Color and brand of clothing matters
Just posting interesting studies that indicate that red color makes you more attractive and recognizable (like polo ralp lauren, lacoste, hilfiger, etc) higher-end clothing make observers to assume you have higher status.

http://www.economist.com/node/18483423

"In the first experiment, volunteers were shown pictures of a man wearing a polo shirt. The photo was digitally altered to include no logo, a designer logo (Lacoste or Hilfiger) or a logo generally regarded as non-luxury, Slazenger. When the designer logo appeared, the man in the picture was rated as of higher status (3.5 for Lacoste and 3.47 for Hilfiger, on a five-point scale, compared with 2.91 for no logo and 2.84 for Slazenger), and wealthier (3.4 and 3.94 versus 2.78 and 2.8, respectively)."

"The answer, Dr Nelissen and Dr Meijers suspect, is the same as why the peacock with the best tail gets all the girls. People react to designer labels as signals of underlying quality. Only the best can afford them."

"Men who wear red are more desirable — Another experiment featured a man in a color photo, dressed in either a red or a green shirt. A pool of 55 women rated the man in red as significantly more attractive–on average, nearly one point higher on the same nine-point scale. They also thought he was more desirable, according to a second, five-item measure that asked viewers to rate, for example, the likelihood that they’d want to be intimate with him."

Good articles. Thanks for posting. I shall incorporate more red into my wardrobe. Not red pants though. Those are ghey...

Ironically, truly wealthy people wear clothes from designers few have heard of with none of those logos. That's really a middle class thing. Prada (although most have heard of them) polo shirts, for example, don't typically have a logo. In some parts of the world having logos everywhere is considered high status, but I would say in the US it's low status.

I'm sceptical about such surveys. One should listen to woman's opinion with caution. They tell that they want one thing, and then end up having sex with some dude who doesn't correspond at all to their "official" desires

I always wear the same Nike Airs but in different colours. last week I wore a red pair for the first time and had women coming up to me all day commenting on them.

Also I have a pair of G-Star jeans that I wear because I really like the fit - I actually don't like the brand G-star I find it a bit tacky. Girls often comment on the brand and say "oh nice/expensive jeans". I find this interesting because I couldnt give a shit about the price or the brand but they clearly do.

Every single time they do a "study" where the ask the woman their opinion of a man/men, they should never go off of their verbal answers. They should hook them up to a monitor for arousal, I've heard of studies where they do this. That way the "study" would be valid.

Fitted clothes with a nice body trump colors imo.

Dark clothing with red shoes is a menacing contrasting look (my look) which everyone responds to.
