I don't really get all the hubbub. The 8 year old girl's behavior is standard operating procedure among girls who don't want to bang you: ignore you. As long as a girl is still talking to me, even angrily, I think there's a chance of getting into her pants. Once she goes silent long enough, I bail. It's a tacit understanding that every player comes to terms with. You could have a girl slapping you in the face and still want to bang you.


Plenty of guys are no different. The mere fact that a woman is talking to them, regardless of the content of her speech, is taken as a sign that she might be interested. If she had done as asked, the boy could have easily thought, 'she wouldn't be talking to me now if she really truly didn't like me.'

Upvoted. This is just another example of female narcissism. Grown women using their children to act out on their fear and dislike of men. You see it in the comments too. "A man at my office said I was pretty and left me a note and would have stalked me if I said I wasn't interested!!" Doesn't matter that they are 8 year olds. Doesn't matter that the behavior is normal. It only matters that mommy is paranoid and all male action must be stamped out so she can feel secure. That's why she spends half the article talking about rape and stalking. It is all about mommy and her issues, not the kids.

Of course, you could have just skipped to her bio and determined that nothing she wrote was worth reading.

That said, the article is unclear. Did the little girl ever say to the little boy, "No"?

According to the Mom, the little girl just runs away whenever he approaches. Why can't the Mom teach her daughter to say "No" and then run away? Is she doing that? Unclear.

It isn't clear but it is implied that the daughter never told the boy "no" and wasn't told to do so by the mother. She talks about her daughter "ignoring", "avoiding" and "refusing to engage" and how she has right not to communicate. If she had any way to portray the boy as aggressive (by saying he ignored rejections), I think she would have done so.

It seems it is one of those weird passive aggressive behaviors of many women where it is a matter of principle that they should be able to get their way without actually having to communicate.

If I were the son's dad, it would be a teachable moment: "son, if a girl ignores you and never wants to talk to you, it means she's not interested."

In a professional work environment, the woman should explicitly turn down a man. But even if she didn't a man would be deficient if he continued to pursue a girl who only showed an interest in *getting away* from him. He should know the rules of the game. I've always thought that it's mostly dudes with bad game that get in trouble for work harassment, because there are more subtle ways to determine if a girl is down without her freaking out.

You're right in that it would be a teachable moment. Holding an 8 year boy to understanding concepts such as body language is still a work in progress, however. It would be unfair to expect him to know a girl running away giggling means "leave me alone or i'll tell feminism on you."

No doubt that the boy's game is weak, but that girl is definitely an awkward, obnoxious bitch in the making. The mom is responsible, and she should be called out for it. This is a good proxy war on some of the most powerful talking-points for feminism: "creepy" behavior, male "entitlement," and "consent." This story is laden with these overtones.

From the little street harassment I've seen, ANY response from the woman emboldens the man in question to pursue harder. I've seen the Jezebel types promote cussing back at dudes catcalling and such, and this is TERRIBLE advice for just that reason, it just escalates things.

Street harassment comes from fully sociosexualized adults who understand the connotations of their catcalls. This kid is 8. He's learning sexual behavior by mimicking, which is what the rad-fem movement is afraid of in the first place. Note that he's learning two lessons at once, both of which are perfectly within the confines of normal hetero male sexual behavior: first, that sexual interaction with females is only reached through male impetus; second, that too much impetus scares the cat. Only one of these is demonized. His behavior is fine, and Tuth's comment about alarmism hit the nail on the head.
