I came across a similar looking pair at an FCUK for $70. I got lucky as hell. If each compliment is worth $10, they've paid for themselves at least two times over.

Those boots are sexy as hell, but most men are probably only going to own one pair of wingtips at any given time, so they're better off getting a pair of wingtip shoes rather than boots so they can better pair it with formal outfits.

I REALLY want some Wolverine 1000 Mile Boots now that my Clarks are getting beat up but they are $500 here in Thailand. Double the price back home.

^ Rio, have you checked out the Pronto Denim shop on the ground flour in Terminal 21? I bought a pair of these Red Wings for 8000baht there.
Happy as hell with them.
They have a bunch of other kinds of leather boots there also.

Have you ever looked into getting boots custom made?

I've looked into getting a custom pair made in Korea, but apparently the quality is bad for the price. The sites I read specifically mentioned Thailand and Hong Kong as Asian countries where you can get better quality custom shoes on the cheap.

Personally I've wanted a pair like this for a while.



I actually forget where I first saw them, but I thought it was a cool look and saved a picture. I know they were expensive though, like $400-$500, too much for a broke student.

I haven't been to Pronto for a while but I think that's a pretty good price on those Redwings. I'll have to go check and see if they have Wolverines. Thanks.

I haven't looked into custom here but the craftsmanship I've seen of all Thai shoes and boots is really bad. I wouldn't trust a Thai person to make me a wooden stick, let alone a pair of custom boots.

Yeah that's what I figured. I'll be in Thailand for a while in 2015 so I'll do some research at some point. I'll be keeping my expectations low 'till then.

I have the Clark Desert Boots (2 pairs - 1 in suede), the Allen Edmonds Daltons in Walnut, and the Chippewa boots. I recommend them all. Great boots.

I checked out a bunch of these custom shoe shops in Bangkok.
Some shoes looks cool as fuck but I would never ever buy them.

The quality is shit and the price is high. I googled them up to find some reviews and as expected they were not good.
Money better spent on quality brands.

Went also to Siam Paragon to check out some Loake's.
But they didn't have any sizes big enough for me + they are way more expensive than in Europe or online.

Lots of nice boots in this thread but I can't order any of them offline or find in shops here in Peru. I found some timberlands I like (pictured above) What color would be best. I asked a girl I was with at the time and she liked the lighter color. There is a another pair of boots I dont have a pic of but the heel was like almost half a inch thicker meaning I would be even taller with them on but they were more expensive and had cracks all in the leather.... It didn't look good, I will try to take a pic next time I am there.

If this is the Wolverine desert boots, I have a pair of these. They take awhile to break in, but once they're broken in, they are very comfortable and look great. The stiff leather soles make a nice clunking noise to announce your presence when strutting around. Good boots.

Yeah I have those in this color. They were pretty stiff at first and hurt the instep part of my foot, but i put some insoles in them and then they loosened up eventually. Now they are just perfect.

Recently bought a pair of Frye Tyler lace-ups. The leather is softer than an 18-year old Latina's ass and they're super comfortable. No break-in period, I put them on and it felt like I was wearing them for years already. Highly Recommended. Thanks to guys like Fisto and others who mentioned them before. I had not heard of Frye up until then.

I've had a few pairs of Steve Madden boots, often you can get them for $100-200.

This guy is $99 now, not one I've worn but it looks nice.

I purchased a pair similar to these when I got back to the states. Paid 70$ on sale. I get people coming up to me on the registration to compliment me on them and ask where I got them.

Aldo, has some pretty nice sales and I've had zero complaints as far as wearing them.

Im rocking these right now, Frye Arkansas boots in Redwood Brown.



They retail at $375, but if youre smart you can pick up a new pair off ebay for as low as ~160.

Staggeringly good quality, you can tell their serious boots at the first glance. The smell of leather is overwhelming and awesome. Its so strong that at night, when I take em off, my feet smell like leather ahaha. I believe Frye and Redwings are the same maker.

Mass compliments and eyefucks. Wingtips are cool too, but these are more on the rugged side without being too "blue collar". They did take a good 3 months to break in though.

I have three pairs of boots I rotate through.

My favorite is a pair of Allen Edmonds suede chukkas. These retailed at $295, but I picked them up at Burlington for $45. My pair is the reddish-brown color on the bottom.


Second is a pair of Johnston & Murphy gore boots (similar to a Chelsea boot, but a little more rugged looking). Retail was something like $150, but I found these at a Dillards outlet for $39.


Least worn (but super comfortable) is a pair of JCP Stafford Deacon Wingtips. I think they're normally around $80 or so, but I caught these on sale for $50 through a link on Dappered.com.


With the hot weather arriving in Phoenix, I'll probably stop wearing boots as much, but I do like all these.

Mike Those stafford wingtips are an incredible value!

Im tempted but I wish they came in black. The cognac is too similar to all my other pairs of boots. I may just get em anyway for the value alone. Fyi theres a pretty good ebates offer on them somewhere on reddit that reduces the price to like 50, to anyone else thats think of getting a pair.
