I think it's always an either/or situation. One of them always seems to be interested in the other, at least in my experience.

As the study suggests, the woman thinks it's possible to just be friends if she's the one that's not interested, which is more likely the case. but if the guy's not interested in her, the woman is probably the lower-value one and is interested in him. Someone's always out to get something more, it seems.

Why is it usually the guy that's interested in his "friend" though?

1) Women often become so unbearable when they can't have something they want that the man will be forced to stop being her friend or at least start avoiding her. No longer friends.

2) Women can find a different guy pretty quick if he's not interested, leaving her plenty of dick to get distracted by so that she soon forgets about it. No longer interested (and may forget it ever happened).

3) Guys are more willing to fuck just about anything. So for many guys, if she's interested at all, then it's on, whether he is officially interested or not. That leads to multiple scenarios, all of which mean a changed relationship (skewing the results of the study) - "friends with benefits" scenarios are just not sustainable. No longer friends.

You know what… funny thing is I get this question a lot.

The answer is…Its probably you… you don’t make a good friend.

You don’t get to still be treated like “the pretty girl".

Dudes and their “friends" operate on a level that would baffle and astound you. Cruel mean spirited humor, frat house manners, demoralizing insults, ego shattering observations…. and NO CRYING. Think Don Rickles. This ties in with the whole “treat me like an equal" conversation. Trust me, you want men to treat you like a woman, not an equal. We let the door slam DIRECTLY in the face of a man walking behind us into 7-11, in hopes that he was looking down texting and walks RIGHT into it… and he CAME THERE WITH US. That’s an equal. That’s funny… and homie should have kept his head on a swivel...

You know what fellas ...I'm friends with women I've slept with. I'm friends with women I haven't slept with. If you wanna fuck her just step to her and see what happens. You never know. And if you lose her as a friend ...ohh fucking well. It doesn't really matter anyway.

Women are more scared of losing a male friend because they lose some access that your friendship provides. Drinks, food, free shit, car repair etc.

What do men lose if the friendship falls apart? Nothing. Women bring nothing to the table except pussy. And you're already not getting any from her. You lose nothing.

True. Female friends don't serve men much purpose. You would think they'd be useful for advice on relationship matters, but even then you can't listen to them on anything.

Only real need for them is infiltrating her social network if she has hot friends or using them in mixed sets to make it easier to get into nightspots and have social proof. Beyond that, I can't think of a whole lot of reasons to be friends with an attractive girl. If she's that cool to hang out with and she's cute, then you should push it past platonic.
