I've always wondered if something like this would happen in the distant future, that cities will be like self-contained colonies that have everything they need inside some glass dome and nobody ever has to actually leave for anything. I guess Dubai will be bringing us there.

Exactly. After all they made an entire luxury community out of a bunch of artificial islands shaped like the map of the world. If there was any place I'd expect a project like this to take off it would be Dubai.

Yeah, but hasn't that island thing failed so far?

I think Dubai will end up being some kind of apocalyptic nightmare, with Bedouin squatters living in towers with the windows broken for ventilation.

It's Dubai men, doesn't matter how irrational or absurd a project is. Emiratis behave like a mix of a child and a new rich, they fancy something and they got the money so they need to make it happen. Just hope it won't end in a gigantic fiasco like Pyongyang tower.

Yes. 'The World' islands are sinking due to neglect and all but one island is uninhabited. Nakheel, Dubai's developer that does everything, isn't in a great financial situation, to say the least.
