I want to créate my own website.And I think its a good idea to learn the skills you need to créate it instea of delegate the work to someone else.

which resources do I need to get started?

How complex does it need to be? You may well find that it fits your business model better to delegate it as it's so incredibly cheap to do so these days. Free your time up to work on your USP.

There's plenty of free template based builders out there that give reasonable results for basic sites if you wish to do it yourself. I'm not clued up on 'proper' web design however.

I do all my sites with wordpress you can do alot with it, theres plugins for pretty much everything and its easy to set up.

Use and learn Wordpress. Its about the easiest platform to get started with, and anyone can learn it if you put the time in.

Yes, this. Becoming a developer might not be the best use of your time. If you are starting totally from scratch with no capital you might have no choice though.

You could go the easy way and use Wordpress. But it wouldn't hurt to learn basic HTML and CSS to make the website completely by yourself.

Microsoft Expression Web 4 is great software for all-purpose web design. If I'm not mistaken, Microsoft has made it available for free.

the website will be a consultancy,with a couple of sections about who we are,our prices...etc,and also put a botton to pay with paypal and so on

I used to make websites for a living. If you want high quality, hire an expensive professional contractor or, better yet, a design firm (they also like to call themselves branding/marketing agencies so they can charge ~$20k per project). If you don't have the money, stick with blog/CMS templates (csszengarden.com).

Do NOT do it yourself. It is harder than you think, especially when you discover that Internet Explorer does not give a fuck about industry standards and that half of your audience refuses to upgrade from Windows XP. Add mobile web and search engine optimization (SEO) in there and you are over your head. Like I said, hire a professional.

Unless you spend 6+ months practicing, your stuff will look like shit and some guy will hate you for it when you eventually hire him to fix it.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. Being cheap is going to cost you more.

Download and install Wordpress. Buy a theme from themeforest.net. Hire some graphics designer to change your theme a little bit (logo + anything related). Install the theme.

Unless you enjoy building sites or really want to keep costs down it's probably better to leave it to a professional.

However, if you are interested I would start with HTML or XHMTL, CSS, and PHP.

Codecademy has some good beginners stuff.
