Broner is such an underwhelming fighter. Don't understand why people call him the future of boxing.

I hate Broner, I actually dislike the 'persona' so much it makes me not want to watch. A lot of fighters (Chris Eubank for example) cultivate a persona that you may want to see lose, however Broner has gone so far with it I wouldn't ever pay to watch him fight.

Talking of Eubank, I've just finished a great book called 'The Hate Game' about his rivalry with Nigel Benn. I've linked to Amazon UK as it looks like it isn't out in the States unfortunately.

I've reviewed it on amazon, so might as well just share what I said about it:

Here are two excerpts from it:

Link 1 & Link 2

Some choice quotes:

Quote:... Meanwhile, down the corridor, Mendy was wrestling with Nigel Benn’s demonic fury. “Right before a fight, I’d always get everybody out of the dressing room and we’d usually have a hug and say some really personal things,” says Mendy. “About his well-being, about what would happen if he was hurt. And he’d morph from someone who was uncertain into a frightening, frightening character."

"It was incredible to witness, this brooding intensity. But this time the intensity is so great that Nigel is not listening to anything I’m saying. He’s already in the fight. There are no words, just a glare. I looked into his eyes and I could almost see inside him. When he looked at you, it was almost as if he paralysed you – you couldn’t move."

Shame I didn't finish it and recommend it earlier, as it is too late for you guys over the pond to get it before xmas. If you like boxing though, definitely worth getting afterwards.

the persona is pretty cool and i'm a fan of it even though he's blatantly ripping of mayweather. difference is that mayweather is a genius and broner isn't.

everyone at my gym is always telling me how broner is the future of boxing; but i saw what i needed to see against his fight with malignaggi.

with that said he'll probably win against maidana on saturday.

Am going to pick up this book in January. Thanks for the recommendation. I would have missed it otherwise!

For the record, I've read both Benn and Eubank's bios. I think they're both awesome men, for different reasons.

Adrien Broner vs. Marcos Maidana tonight, should be a good one, I reckon Broner will win by knockout.

I had it as a shutout for Maidana, plus the two knockdowns, minus one point for the headbutt.

I never understood for a second why people called thst guy the future of boxing. Just watch his fight with Daniel Ponce De Leon and could have seen how flawed he is. I think Mayweather should fight Maidana next. That Amir Khan fight makes absolutely no sense.

Broner thinks he's the next Floyd Mayweather, I guess Maidana just put him in his place lol I just couldn't stand Broner's cockiness, I hope that stops now.

As for Mayweather's next opponent, it has to be Tim Bradley.

Yeah. Khan is beyond washed up by now. No reason Mayweather should do him a favor by giving him a big payday when everyone knows his chin is weak.

I know Broner is only 23-24, but geez, what a classless clown. The guy is a wannabe Mayweather. Wants to create an image when he hasn't earned it yet. Floyd started out as Pretty Boy - not Money May - and earned his dues before he became the shit talking villain of boxing. Broner hasn't fought NOBODY - until now. He learned a good lesson tonight. Props to Maidana. What a power puncher!

It can't be. Mayweather is promoted by Golden Boy and Bradley is promoted by Top Rank. Golden Boy fighters aren't fighting Top Rank guys right now. It's a shame, because Mayweather/Bradley is a fight that I'd like to see.

In that case, I reckon Manny Pacquiao should fight Márquez again (yes for the 5th time) to dispel his demons, and if he wins that, he'll be ready to fight Mayweather.

Rarely, do I have an emotional tie to a certain boxer to lose, but dammit I friggin' jumped for joy when that ring announcer said..."AND NEW WBA WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPION...".

I could care less if Maidana's career takes a nose-dive after tonight, but as of RIGHT NOW.....Maidana is my favorite fighter...hell, favorite athlete, LOL!!

Pacquiao's next opponent will most likely either be Bradley or Marquez. Maybe after that fight, the two promoters will have sorted everything out and Pacquiao will be able to fight Mayweather. What's funny is that if Pacquiao fights Bradley, Pacquiao will be the underdog. Bradley is now one of the top pound for pound guys and Pacquiao is pretty far down the list. I've never been extremely impressed by Pacquiao, but there is some serious money to be made if he fights Bradley.

Mayweather doesn't drink, do drugs, or make sex tapes w/ strippers. Broner is not even the next Naseem Hamed.
