I read about this app called STD Triage in Wired magazine a few months ago, and finally decided to give it a try: http://www.wired.com/business/2013/03/std-triage/

Basically, if you have visible symptoms of an STD (or what you think might be one) then you can use this app to get a legitimate diagnosis of your condition, anonymously, over your smartphone. You take a photo of the affected area, write up a short description, and send it off into the ether. Within 24 hours, you get a written response from a doctor. They seem to be all based in Scandinavia.

The cost is $40, deducted directly from your itunes account if you're on the iPhone. Wired lists the cost at $10, but it seems demand has driven it up.

Now, I'm not here to pimp out some random app without giving it a thorough test. I used the app for something I thought might have been an STD last week. Within about 10 hours, I had a written reply from a doctor, explaining that what I had was benign and not an STD. The relief I felt was tremendous.

But then I started second guessing it, thinking how could an iPhone app actually diagnose me? So I went to the local clinic, and had a nurse look at me. She told me exactly the same thing as the doctor on the app had told me.

So, I don't want to start a debate about STD testing, as that has been covered before here in the forum. However, I did want to let you all know to check this app out if you're concerned about something. Like 99% of you, I hate going to the doctor for this kind of shit, so this is a great alternative. It can give you peace of mind, or it can give you the push you need to go get yourself properly treated.

Naturally, if you're banging a lot, you should consider urine and blood tests for a thorough STD test, as this app only covers visible symptoms. But I'm not here to tell you what to do, just that this app is something you can choose to use.

Genius idea. 40 bucks for a "doctor" to look a pic, and then copy and paste a diagnosis. I'd say less than a minute per picture. Thats $2400 an hour on the low side, completely independent.

They need some competition. Make and market an app that does basically the same thing. Charge 10 bucks. 10 bucks per pic is still $600 an hour location independent.

Its true but Im laughing at the thought of backpacking through Bali, pulling out my laptop at some internet cafe and carefully scrolling through a couple of hundres pics of dicks.

You would want to pick a very good corner to sit.
