Easy... just don't show or act depressed, be a semi-asshole, a lot of women are attracted to that, work on your game and your good to go.

One thing to start with is not idealizing but normalizing feeling shitty. Depression is the common cold of the mind, about 80% of people become clinically depressed at some time in their lives. It usually remits.

Then start at the macro level and optimize. First, your health. Can't build a platform of happiness on a diseased foundation.

Had a checkup lately? Smoking? Drinking? Eating well? Exercising?
Getting in to see a medical doctor is important. There will be low cost therapy at places that train psychotherapists. Ask for a male therapist, women stick together and will usually not want to see you get somewhere with other women. They won't hassle you about it, but you might have to ask. When I was male in training I had a harder time filling my schedule because all the women clients want women therapists and the guys are open to male or female.

Even small amounts of alcohol can sometimes maintain/exacerbate depression ( 1-2 beers a day for example) .

You need to get the foundations in place, than start thinking strategy about more money, game, status, etc.

A lot of why people are in bad places is self-defeating behavior. Not always, but if you have no money/status and you're smoking and drinking (for example), it's possible you're helping to keep yourself where you are.

i loved the title of this post so had to check it out

i haven't taken a poll or anything but i wouldn't be surprised if the large majority of people who have turned to the internet for advice on getting with chicks are on some level depressed and have social skills issues (i.e. being an asshole).

one of the things i never understood from commercial pua organisations is how they pre-suppose that a lot of guys only need to fix their girl issues and then they're alright. it always seemed to me that being shit with girls is more a symptom of a whole load of other issues: depression, self-loathing, being in a dead-end job or workaholic in high stress job

This is true to some degree-- if you're just ebullient, rich, gorgeous, really bright-- AND socially proofed, you'll tend to be a chick magnet.

But to some degree there's an issue of basic genetic adaptational fit.
I.E., the healthiest, most genetically perfect palm tree in the world cannot even survive in Alaska.

Many Americans are from cultures/ gene pools/parents which produce people who just aren't that fitted to hypermodern American "life."

I know my own shy, trusting, bookish temperament makes me a virtual idiot relative to the cowboy mentality admired here. I mean, what would you infer the social ideal to be in a country that elected W for president?

I'm sort of the polar opposite of a guy like that.
