Nicknames?
I've never made this a regular thing, but from time to time I'll give a girl a nickname to call her by, and if she responds positively I usually know I'm good with her. The first time I did this I texted a girl asking "What's the word, hummingbird?" and she became Hummingbird. Another girl went by her initials. One girl said she couldn't stand Lady Gaga so I'd call her Gaga. Most recently I was with a girl whose name is foreign and hard to pronounce so rather than look like a fool fucking up her name I came up with something based on an inside joke.

I've heard mixed things about nicknames, like they're cheesy or pussy repellent. But with the right girl I think they can work - All these girls were pretty quirky so they could play along with it (I doubt I could get away with this with one of those oh-so-serious chicks). Any thoughts?

RE: Nicknames?
i nickname all my chicks. if they're short i call them smurf or munchkin. the nickname always has the effect of making them seem like a bratty little sister. they're neither cheesy nor pussy repellent, you stand out as the guy who calls her 'smurf' and not her firstname or regular nickname like every other motherfucker out there.

one of the smoothest dudes i know, always when he hears a girls name, makes fun of her.
'claire, like bear, you don't seem that tough claire bear, more like a koala bear'
'jessica, you're a mess jess, messy jessy'

you get it. girls love it, they froth, they beam, they smile, he's the only person in their world when he does this.

RE: Nicknames?
Nicknames get chicks too attached.
I don't even refer to anyone in my harem by their first name.

But then again, I suppose deploying a nickname a certain way can establish distance/aloofness/upper hand.

ymmv

Hah hah, those are all good tips. How far do you go with poking fun at them? I had a situation recently where I was calling a girl a brat and considered calling her something like "Bratmobile" or "Brat Pack", but I held off because some chicks get really sensitive with things that could be considered name-calling. Better to be an asshole than a nice guy, I suppose, but when in doubt I leave it out.
