Not sure whether to put this in travel or money. The NY Times has a recent story about young American expats moving to and making a living in Panama. Some examples, a group of 20 something Americans running a network of hostels:

Another is a guy who has opened up New York Bagel Cafe and then there is one who has a chocolate and pastry shop.

Yeah I hear a lot about Panama in some of the newsletters I get. It seems like they are trying to position themselves as the Singapore of Latin America.

They sort of did that in a negative context during the height of the Colombian cocaine cartel fiasco but have since been much more legitimate as a banking destination (so I hear).

I want to check out Mexico, Panama, and Colombia.
