If I get a jacket tailored then gain 15-20lbs muscle it won't fit my chest, shoulders or upper arms anymore but the length is still good. Can you get it retailored or do you need a new jacket?

Tailoring and alterations are much easier when sizing downward, rather than upward. It usually depends on how much material is in the seams. Having worked in tailoring, I can make a garment several sizes smaller, but if there's little extra material in the seams, it's possible only to let it out a little bit.

It sounds like you're looking for a reason not to gain weight, do it and just get a couple of cheaper suits like vk said on nexxtlevelup when he was bulking.

don't make the purchase till ya reach a size you're happy with. I paid a bunch for a bespoke suit, one offseason put on about 8-10 pounds of muscle, it became useless...I recomped as well so overall net gain was more than 10 pounds but most of the upper body gains went shoulders and chest and traps, there is no way to add on to accommodate for that change.
