For most of what you said.
All I can say is " Welcome to the South" Even though Charleston constantly make top city list. I've always said that Charleston is the closest place you can get living in the "Good ole days"
The couple big families like the Ravenels run the city and the low country.
Just google that family and you can see how they have stepped on the backs of people to make it to the to and stay there.


Some of the things you say, like girls wanting to settle down early.
Isn't really a bad thing. Less time for them to slut it up in Charleston.
I have plenty of friends that swiped up rich girlfriends and are soon to get married.
Good for them.


The soft guys don't bother me.
All the people I know in the city are pulling mad numbers for taking advantage of the lame guys and slutty liberal type girls, playing the southern belle game.


I actually think.. you didn't do as well, because you're from Boston.
That isn't a hit on people from the north at all.
It's simply because this is the south and girls want a Southern boy.
Southern attitudes don't really mesh as well with Northerners.

I've actually ever had the cops give me a hard time in the multiple years I was in an out of the city.
And I'm black.
Ps. I didn't say that I don't go out at night. I was in the middle of packing up and leaving the country again, so I was bouncing back between South Carolina and Georgia every other week.

Lots of great info, I see a couple new places.
Charleston is always opening new bars, they just often have a high turn around rate with the city being so expensive.
Mynt use to be a place I went all the time, and then I remember coming back and Mynt would be dead.


All in All...I think you did pretty well in the city.

I totally agree with you in the sense that I probably had a harder time here because i'm from the north. Just the way I was raised and the mentality is totally different. I always have to think twice before I speak because my humor and what I said offends people even though I don't mean to do so. its also hard because they don't tell you what you did to offend them so you gotta pick it up through their body language. In the north, people will tell you whats on their mind, so it was a slow learning curve.

I did alright here only because I would bar hop like crazy and approach a ton. I would open around 30-40 or more sets a night. It actually worked against me at times because I would sometimes run into a girl a couple weeks later and they would mention we already met. also, i forgot majority of their names. I would come home with 5-7 numbers a night yet if i got 1 response i was doing well. Back home i would have around 4 out of the 7 reply to me. But I've been tweaking my game and toning down what I say and trying to hide the northern in me.

It was bitter sweet experiencing girls that want to settle down early. There are some really good girls here as well. They go to church and have only slept with a handful of guys. Sometimes girls go home with guys just to cuddle and no matter how drunk they are and persistent you are they won't do shit. You can find some real good wife material here. On the other hand there are some girls that are down for just hookups. It seems like everyone in this town is single, just living the dream and drinking 5 nights a week.

The good thing about living here is that it's improved my game drastically. i never noticed how blunt and forward I am and has taught me a lot about manners and shit that every girl loves. A lot of stuff like opening the car door for a girl on a date and saying ma'am and sir is second nature to them, yet up north it doesn't happen. I actually wrote a thread on a one night stand i had with a girl that was pretty hot, but i couldn't bag it again. I came back home to visit and ran into her and was able to bang her again. Finally after literally gaming her on and off for over a year time spand. I did really well with other girls as well at the bar for my short stay home.

I would need another year or two to fully embrace the southern mentality and be able to learn what makes them tick. The majority of the girls i've had here are above the mason dixon line and the others were liberal southerners.

Its funny though because every girl complains about the dating scene and how guys just wanna hookup. I took one girl out to ice cream and she mentioned to me she told all her friends because she hadn't been on a date since shes been here. I feel like I could kill it in this town if i was in the right social circles, but its been a hell of challenge. these girls, although seem like don't have many options, are still pretty tough for the most part. They're hot and they know it. But there are some hot ones here that will get drunk and fuck. This whole city has been like a giant riddle to me. As soon as I think i understand it, it throws a curve ball at me. So many people from all over the place live here. But its been one hell of an experience.

I just loooked up Charleston online, probably the most European like American city I have seen. From what I have heard it's basically a whiter version of New Orleans. I will definitely check this city out the next time I go to the United States.
