This forum has definitely whetted my desire to go/move to Russia, but then I stumble upon articles like this:

The article itself is hilarious. But if it exemplifies the difficulties of living in Russia, I might need to rethink my future plans.

What a joke. I bet over half of that $51 billion spent sponsored a lot of devushkas and went into the Dubai and Monaco property markets. Clearly it didn't all make into Sochi.

Yeah, the oligarchs stole a lot of it again. The original Sochi construction budget was something like half of what they actually spent. Everything got delayed and they are still finalizing things this week. Apparently it took something like 6-7x more to construct a lot of the projects. It's a big joke really.

Nobody thinks Sochi is 'the real Russia" anyway. It's incredibly expensive and the place where all the very wealthy go from time to time. It's more expensive to go skiing there than in say Austria or France, so everyone would rather go abroad anyway.

dude, I have no words to say about this......It's just embarrassing for the International Olympic Committee and for Russia that the Winter Olympics are having these sorts of problems..... I am expecting the same stuff from FIFA in a way this year and for Qatar 2022.
