Woman writes about how "300" makes men "insecure about their appearance"
http://time.com/19908/300-rise-of-an-emp...-pressure/

TL;DR: A woman tries to bullshit about men too being "unable to conform to unrealistic standards", gets destroyed in comments by men telling her to fuck off with her ridiculous bullshit.

This is the difference between men and women folks. Men see the mountain top and want to climb it, women complain that there is a mountain top and declare wherever they want to be the new mountain top.

Edit: Even the guy from the picture who was in the movie replied and told her she is full of shit haha

Comments are brilliant. Really sums up the difference between how men and women approach their problems. We attack them head on beat them, whereas women run and hide and blame the "big bad world" and how unfair it is.

Why does a women writes about what men feels?

What kind of madness is this? It would be like if I write about what to expect in the third trimester of a pregnancy.

Someone's been listening to some Bill Burr.

Spot on about with mountain top analogy. I watch 300 and I want to hit the iron.

When I watch 300, it makes me depressed because I can't be an 8 foot tall Persian God-king. Hollywood just makes me feel so body-conscious. Thanks a lot, patriarchy.

Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.

My mates and I are going to see that new 300 movie this Saturday.

We've been talking about it since the start of the year and have been training hard all that time to get ripped for the occasion.

For us, it is an inspiration.

This woman is failing badly at projection. I also reckon her social circle is full of soft manboobs.

I would have bet that she was fat.

Looks like she was chunky a couple of years ago.

Current twitter pic looks a lot slimmer.

She seems to be projecting her own body image issues onto men. '"I hate having to be slim, how dare society force me behave in a healthy way!'

Compare that to this guy from the comments:

Exactly. Men recognize the difference between a "standard" and "the ideal," and don't whine about either.

One of the comments is from an actor in the very photo she used for her article:

Quote:I'M THE MAN CENTRE LEFT OF YOUR LEAD PHOTO , and I would like to point out a few things. My sophomore year of high school I was diagnosed with a herniated disc and the specialist gave me two options. End my athletic career or I would be forced to stay in shape my entire life to avoid the disc from slipping further, at an accelerated rate. Secondly, I was only able to bench press 195 lbs my senior year which goes without saying, I was not nearly the size I am today. Lastly, I was bullied for most years of my life and I have not allowed anyone's opinion to slow me down. I have worked diligently and committed myself to eating properly, taking vitamins and being active to some degree almost every day. It's not easy, but if you truly want it enough, you can achieve it. I've never lost focus which has led to the current time in my life. Now that you have more information to one spartan that you have turned into a bad guy, I would like to hear more about why you think this way and if my insight has possibly allowed you to develop a new mindset regarding this matter.

Regards,

Bo Roberts

RE: Woman writes about how "300" makes men "insecure about their appearance"
It would take me hours to reply to the massive amount of completely inaccurate information in that article.

I will say that I too feel insecure about my body once a week or more. However, I feel fucking great about it and my confidence shoots through the roof at least a dozen times a week because of the positive changes I've made due to my fitness regime. Not to me.tion the extremely positive effect working out has on my energy, motivation, mood, mental well being, professional life, love life, etc.

I did develop an eating disorder due to working out however. I eat way too much young pussy now that I've built up a good amount of muscle mass. Shits so sweet it's givin me a toothache. Better see the doc.

I can't believe that Time magazine actually posts this drivel, I thought it was semi respectable magazine.

I will agree on one thing though and that is the american overuse of steroids which does set unrealistic standards for drug free people. This is mostly an american phenomenon though.

I saw the guys in 300 and thought it was CG how ripped they were...

...then I felt insecure about my body when I learned they were all real...

...then I Googled the "300 workout" and did it (amongst other workouts) 3 times-per-week for the next 6 months hoping to look like those guys (300 workout won't do it alone, fellas)

What I didn't do you ask? Write an article bitching about how the movie made me feel insecure about myself. Really is insane how most guys see greatness and aspire to it where most women see greatness and attempt to tear it down. Sickening.

It all comes down to motivation, and why men aspire to greatness.
Cos if we want to get laid by top shelf pussy, it's what we gotta do.

But in woman's world, just getting out of bed in the morning often counts as greatness (something even which most struggle with), which renders what men do to build up their character and bodies completely alien to them.

She's critical of the movie for the same reason women are critical of game/men's right etc.

A man who knows game shifts the power of sex from the female to the male.

A man who is ripped excites a woman and reduces her ability to deny sex while making the man more sexually appealing to other women.

Ripped men will have higher standards and more options and therefore women life the author will have to compete more to get the men they want.

She's projecting her own insecurity about being able to attract and have power over men if many men become ripped.

The dichotomy in male and female counterarguments in these comments never ceases to amaze me. One woman comes in and spouts off a Starbucks and cat dander-induced hissy fit, and proceeds to get dismantled by an army of knowledgeable and logical men. If only every moronic article on the internet were like this, soon women would be too self-conscious to post anything.

That's why they have sites like Gizabel where they are surrounded by group think. The guys commenting on this article hve probably never been to Gizabel as they do not relate to the content, while Time is mainstream so gets all varieties.

Slightly off topic but there is a misconception that the actors used this "300 workout" to get in shape for the movies. It wasn't designed to be done regularly. I agree with your comment though! From Gym Jones:

"The second misconception surrounds the idea of the Spartan workout, aka "300", how frequently it was done or who actually finished it. "300" is a one-time test, an invitation-only challenge undertaken by those deemed ready for it. By the end of our four-month project 17 people had done the workout (Logan and I were two of them). This constitutes about 50% of the cast and stunt crew. We supervised every test, evaluated each rep for quality and only counted those that achieved our standards for form and range of motion. Like many workouts "300" is not hard once you've done it but the apprehension built up ahead of it - something we encouraged - was enough to make some guys fear it to the degree that performance was compromised. This workout was a crucible that some passed through and others still have hanging over them. "

Me too. I'm in better shape than I've ever been, and I find myself looking in the mirror at least once a week and thinking, "Could be better."

You know who else does this? Attractive, thin women.

There's a polarity there. One side is, "I'm fat and beautiful and I demand nothing but the best just for existing."

The other side is, "I've come a long way. I'm a different breed. I'm faster, stronger, and smarter than most and I've worked hard for this. And I've got a hell of a long way to go."

This article is just more blatant trolling from mainstream media. Time magazine of all places. And you know what? Good for them. They're weeding out the pussies. There are men that will read that and think, "Yeah! Fuck that movie for making my bloated fat ass feel bad about myself!" The rest of us can laugh about it and stay the course.
