Business Coaches
I was wondering if anyone in this community had experience or tips about working with business coaches. I've found that being tutored by people better than you in a specific subject really helps increase your skills in anything from game to lifting.

I'm a solo business owner and would like to regularly meet with a bus. coach who could help me get to specific revenue goals.

Here's the deal. I DO NOT want to be with a life coach or someone that has not done what I intend to do. I.e. I'd like to work with someone who is already a millionaire.

I have a friend I can talk to about business questions, but it's not as frequent as I like because he's a busy dude.

Any suggestions on business coaches to look into? I'd prefer to meet in person, but Skype / phone calls could work as well.

Check out Vistage international. I've been a member for over 8 years now. You meet with a group of 6-12 CEO's monthly. The group will help you process business issues. Once a month, the chair of the group will have a one on one session with you. I found the experience extremely helpful and I highly recommend it. I would be happy to chat with you if you want to talk further. I am on international travel until May 23 but we can start conversation via email.

I second the above poster, go with a 'mastermind group' or something along those lines. I have clients that use single business coaches and clients that use mastermind groups. I find that the single business coaches cost more and give less. Also, with a mastermind group you can pool together and buy some time from a real deal expert on a specific subject. It may take a while to find a mastermind group that has enough competent members in it but thats where I would suggest you go.

Thanks for the tips!

I'm curious about the mastermind approach, how do you find a group?

I don't have good advice on that one, you can start with social meetup sites etc.

The ones I know of are ones that my clients use. So I know them through a network.

MJ DeMarco's Fastlane forum is a place where millionaires and young entrepreneurs of both the wannabe and gonnabe variety congregate. I'm not sure about business coaching, but you can find a millionaire mentor there. Understand that it's not going to be a $$$-based transactional relationship, you have to become part of the community and provide value, or at least ask the right questions and prove you're making an effort. People are more likely to invest their time and wisdom into you if they see you're actually trying to walk the walk(not meaning to sound condescending).

There's even a yearly meetup called Beer & Pancakes, which is an amazing opportunity to directly pick the brains of successful guys in a variety of sectors and even get help from them.

I'm not going to say what my screename is there - see the Seinfeld "worlds colliding" theory Icon_biggrin - but I cannot emphasize enough how great a resource that forum is. I highly recommend it to every
(wannabe) entrepreneur.

If you're in the States, the Small Business Administration (A Federal Government Agency) has lots of local chapters that will provide all sorts of help free of charge.

Much better than chancing it with some fly-by-night business "coach".
