Okay hold up one second.

"Manhattan" is huge. I could recommend a place downtown, and you could live way up in Harlem, and it would take you an hour to get there. You presumably want something local, to work with your logistics. Since I have no idea where you live, I can't suggest anything that works from this angle.

As a result of Manhattan being huge, there are thousands of lounges and bars. Some of them will be good. Some of them will be bad. Some of them will be good for some people, bad for others. I could recommend you a fly bar where a bunch of Wall Street types hang out, and if you aren't wearing a suit looking to drop bank you're going to hate it.

Need a little more info to recommend one of the thousands of bars in Manhattan.

I have seen these threads for NYC to swoop, but I feel they would/could fit into a different category if you already have a chick. I work on the street and feel that wearing a suit for after hour drinks can make the date too pretentious, or I find it hard to be down to earth and the girls find it equally hard because they want to impress (some girls).

I'm going to be in Upper Midtown. I'm just looking for a place that's chill, I can have good conversation, get close, maybe near somewhere for afterwards, and get drinks. Just throw names out there and i'll do some research.

It is hard to give recommendations because in any 5 block radius in almost any part of nyc especially midtown you are going to find a very large number (30-60) of places to go. Just go to yelp.com or eater.com, filter by nightlife/bars, move the map to cover a 3 block radius of where you're staying. Then filter by price. And decide if you want to go to a wine bar, dive bar, etc based on what you is likely to best improve your situation. For extra credit tell the girl that a friend recommended the place when you tell her where to meet you.
