Is Wanchai a good location for a 3 night stay? I heard that it's a p4p area except on a Sunday afternoon (could be on a Sunday too). I see some AirBnb apartments for about $100/night or less in that neighborhood.

Wanchai doesn't seem to have the same stigma as say Lower Sukhumvit in Bangkok. A couple of streets with hookers, but also clean places. I feel your pain about accomodation though. There are cheap places in Kowloon but I hate that IRT infected area. I've stayed in IBIS Sheung Wan which is close to LKF, 2 stops from Central, should be able to get it at around $100-120 with a good offer.

Thanks man. There are also a few studio apartments around LKF/SOHO (looks like a few minutes walk from LKF) for around 100/night. I'm considering booking one of them.

Just checked IBIS on the map, it looks like it's 5 min taxi ride from LKF whereas the aprtments are within walking distance. Could be an advantage to stay withing walking distance if i'm going to party in LKF, because the taxi queue is a bitch and can even be a cockblock if the girl is not DTF enough. That's my take on it anyway, maybe I'm wrong.

The maids are mostly underpaid, lonely and not very good looking (obviously, good looking girls will have other avenues of making money either in the Philippines or elsewhere that don't involve scrubbing the shit off some spoilt expat kid's buttocks). You will find them sitting out in areas like Central and having picnics in groups. They are certainly not looking for the D and just want to have a relaxing time among themselves, but there are supposedly a few bars open on Sunday afternoon in Wanchai where you can find girls who are looking, as well as beer-bellied creepers who had the same idea as you.

But do realize that you're taking advantage of women who don't have much money and usually already have a family and children at home. All of them (as it's required by law) also live with their employers and Sunday (their only holiday) is your only chance to pull them.

Can anybody explain to me why the helpers are required to live with their families by law? Somewhat reminiscent of indentured servitude...
Also, wouldn't families be mildly uncomfortable with an outsider living in their homes? I know I would be. I guess HK wives/mothers think differently.

This Sunday night maid thing... at what time are they out partying?

Because LKF seems to go until 5 or 6 am.. Are they out all night or are they relatively tame and stay out until just midnight or so?

At night they are mostly home already. They have to work the next day. They will be out from noon to early evening for the most part.

The maids in Hong Kong are not required by law to live with the families. Many families find it more economical and convenient to have the maid live with them. They are required if they live with the family a maid quarters, food, and adequate privacy (thats the minimum required by law). Plenty of women live with their boyfriends outside the home, It all depends on the family.
Example: The family could say we need you from 7 in the morning to 8 at night, the rest of the time is yours. Plus your off day on Sunday.

No, if they are being brought to HK under a FDH visa, they must live with the family and work for them full time.

Anyway, takeaway is that nobody in this thread should expect the maids to have their own place.

Never said they had their own place. I said they were staying with a cohabitant. ie staying the night with a boyfriend at his place.
They changed the law in 2003.
