I've been out here in Bucharest for the last 6 weeks while I wait on a certain financial pay-out to come to fruition. My plan after this was to do a bit of European travel and before heading to the UK later in the year for work.

I've been seeing this one particular girl for about 3 weeks now and thoroughly enjoy her company. After I leave Bucharest I fully intend to keep in contact with her.

Yesterday she invited me to see her friends master's thesis presentation (which I obviously said I couldn't make), and then later invited me out to watch the world cup semi with them (which I agreed to).

I then checked my bank account and my pay-out finally came through (much earlier than expected).

So after a couple of hours weighing up my options, I decided I should hit the road. My rental period runs out on Friday and I would have had to extend regardless.

I meet up with her and her friends to watch the game and have a pretty rad time. But I am a total fuckwit when it comes to goodbyes and I couldn't sum up the strength to tell her that I'm leaving in two days.

After the game her and her best friend go to get a cab (she's been on the rag for the last couple of days, so we're not having sex).

We then have the following awkwardly timed conversation:

Her: "So maybe on the weekend we can meet up for a beer or something (her code-phrase for sex)."

Me: Maybe.

Her: Just maybe hey?

Me: I'm going away for a while.

Her: Haha to jail or leaving Bucharest?

Me: I'm leaving to do a bit of travel around. Indefinitely.

Her: Oh okay... well I'm here until the end of August till I leave for *****.

Me: Alright. I'll probably be back.

Her: So... just disappearing forever, to never see me again hey?

Me: I'll see you when I see you.


I'd actually like to sit down and have a chat with her about it tonight (and try and weasel my way into some day three period sex). But considering the oddness of the last conversation I'm a bit hesitant to hit her up again for a couple of months.

I suppose the advice that I'm after is if I contact her again before I leave will that impede seeing her in the future?

EDIT: Just writing the situation out has made the answer to my question pretty clear. Responses still welcome.

I don't see why you can't leave on friendly terms, especially if you're a foreigner there and were there for work.

You can always try to leave things on good terms, but if they were really good, she's going to be sad.

But fear not, if she's attractive, she's undoubtedly entertained other guys before, she's probably got some interest around her now, and some guy will be sniffing at her in the future.

Rarely do you bang a cute girl and she stays w/o company involuntarily.

The man is the one that's in a constant state of dating peril.

You could have a ton of options right now, and then find yourself in a drought.
