Lucky I've managed to avoid the balding gene but it does run in my family. My brother who is 30 now had aggressive balding from his early 20's. He actually went and got a hair transplant.

When he first mentioned it, I thought of all those images of 'plugs' from the 80s but the procedure has come a long way. He got a variation called FUE, which is virtually scarless. Long story short, he got his entire hairline replaced. Cost him about 8k. He wears his hair at a short buzz now & you would have no idea he had anything done even if you had a microscope.

As long as the hairline is in tact balding doesn't seem to be too much of a handicap.

As a general rule, if your beard has too much hair relative to your head the imbalance won't be pleasing to the eye. People often describe this as the "axe murderer" look. As a guy who started balding at 17 and who was bald by the age of 23, I will tell by experience with the "balding men" scene, hats are a very bad idea.

No matter how strong your frame is, how handsome she thinks you are with the hat, it's going to have to come off at a point. And most women will feel as if you tricked them. It's almost like wearing a wig to them.

It's stupid I know, but we all know women aren't logical. The best strategy for a young bald guy (the one I've adopted) is to shave it close be and be fully exposed.

Even though let's face, you will lose points on the attractiveness scale, at least some women (the minority unfortunately) will admire you for having the balls to go out in public with a bald head and you will gain some point in the confidence scale, so it all balances out.

Anyway, my point is, don't hide, be proud of yourself even though you're bald(ing), even if there will be a lot of douchebags with a full head of hair who will make you understand that you shouldn't be.





Even though we shouldn't compare ourselves to celebrities, Patrick Steward's story is interesting here, and he supports what I've said: "No more hiding".

Long hair in women was/is strongly sexually selected for because it's a great fertility signal. Why do you think men are naturally repulsed by short hair on women? As a result of sexual selection, longer hair is associated with less testosterone, this is why female steroid users may suffer from hair loss on the head, while simultaneously growing more facial and body hair, not to mention the fact that naturally bald men have higher testosterone on average like I mentioned before.

No one ever said every guy with long hair is feminine, that would be absurd. I shouldn't need to say "on average" at the end of every sentence for that to be assumed in this kind of context.

To get back on topic, my point was there are some upsides for bald guys. Being perceived as more masculine and also as being taller are your bright sides. I've noticed with some balding guys the efforts they go to to cover it up just make it look worse, sometimes you'd be better off just going bald.

I concur with this. I started losing my hair at 23, 26 now and have had it buzzed tight for the last 3 years.

I never wear hats. Nor did I when I had a full head of hair.

Also, I would never Mac-3 my head. A number 1 blade is a good look.
