So I was out with my friends the other day just chilling, and one of them took a group photo of all of us and put it up on facebook. All of a sudden I get an email telling me some random girl I never heard of messaged me on facebook saying "hey whats up". I thought maybe I knew her or something...but I didn't. I checked her profile and I'm not friends with her, but she is friends with the guy who uploaded the pic.

I basically responded by asking her "do i know ya?", and she just said "no you just look familiar where are u from". And so I answered, and then she told me where she's from, and that she's a year older than me. I asked her how she found me, and she said from our mutual friend's photo.

...And that's it lol. I look pretty attractive in pics (im just very photogenic, tho I would say I'm pretty average looking), so maybe she's hitting on me? I'm pretty new to the game, and I'm not used to girls hitting on me, especially out of the blue. I know it's hard to judge at this point, but I don't know any reason why she would be messaging some random guy other than she wants to bang him (or sell him something...).

Any thoughts guys? and any ideas on how to move it forward for a possible bang (cuz she's pretty attractive). Unfortunately I still live with my parents and huge ass family, so I have no place to bring her, so if any of yous have tips for that, I'd appreciate it.

Proceed with caution and skepticism.

Most likely it's a bot, overseas scammer, or marketer.

Ask to see pics, then move quickly to the number ("We should text off of here")

If she's fake, you'll know pretty quickly, because she'll never set up an actual meeting.

Also check out her profile carefully. Fake profiles usually are pretty bare bones, with pics that look like they were taken in a studio.

She either wants to sleep with you or harvest one of your kidneys. Game on. Fuck her in your car and hope you don't wake up in a tub of ice.

yeah that was my first thought. apparently her account is pretty thorough, and she has a twitter as well that goes back a few years.

She could be into you, but the moment she asks you to visit a sketchy looking website or asks you to wire money, abandon ship.

Check her photos. If she has less than 10 she's a bot or is trying to catfish you. It's a rare for a girl to have less than 10 photos, especially on Facebook. Check her timeline and if there are barely any posts she's definitely trying to catfish you. Also, ask the mutual friend if he knows who she is.

thanks for the responses guys. my friends told me she's real, so i just went for it. got her number, and set up a meetup.

bringing her to a bar next week, and then hopefully move things on from there.
