Thoughts from you casanovas out there.

What do you do when an attractive chick Facebook friend requests you who you don't recognize, but runs in similar social circles and with whom you share 16 mutual friends?

Option 1, ignore for later:
Ignore, then when you see her out and about (because you run in similar circles), mention it to her. Gives you hand when you see her face to face, but you may miss your chance.

Option 2, wit and sarcasm:
Accept and message her "finally you friend requested me...been waiting forever". Displays your wit...but sarcasm can be tough to get electronically.

Option 3, hi how are you:
Accept and message her "Hey girl how's your Thursday going". Boring, but can lead to more conversation and hookup.

Option 4, fuzzy memory:
Accept and message her "Hey...yeah...weren't you at [mutual friend's] birthday party last year" making up a fake drunken fuzzy memory of her. Interesting without requiring sarcasm. But you have to re-frame the conversation and move on from there.

The friend acceptance and messages would be after waiting a few hours / day so she doesn't think you're on FB all day.

The 'options' can apply not only to the initial message but also to the framing of the initial few exchanges.

5) Come off borderline offended. "Do I know you?"...

"I don't accept friend requests from people I don't know."


This will make her introduce herself and reveal her intentions behind the add.

No need to complicate things.

She has been checking you out. It can be casual on her side, but I would fire a warning shot to the crotch right away.

Confirm friend request.

Then instantly PM:

"OK - fine. I agree."

"Agree to what?"

"I'll agree to go out with you, because obviously you are about to ask me out."

I message them and tell them to explain how they know me. I do not accept their friend request.

If they seem decent and are attractive I tell them to meet me for a drink. Bring the conversation out of the frame right away and leave it as a little nagging unfinished thread in their minds.

Something like this. Start with something neutral like "Hi, I see we know a lot of the same people. Good to connect with you."

Figure out her intention for adding you. It might be something purely practical like getting info from you or asking for a connection.

Once you know her intention, decide whether it makes sense to hit on her immediately, and how to do it.

Also, I would just insta-accept. The most social guys I know run a lot of people on their Facebook as friends. They accept new people quickly and easily, and unfriend later if needed.

Note that I am used to Latin American conditions. Which requires a different kind of game, and you don't really need to be edgy.

Some of those other options come across as try-hard. But I appreciate that we're dealing with different cultural norms.

I say Options 1 or 4.

I actually got a bang this way in February. Girl saw me tagged in some friends pics and sent me a friend request. I went with Option 4 and we were fucking a few days later.

Options 2 and 3 just come off a little creepy and boring.

Option 1 definitely keeps her in your frame. Especially if you know you will be seeing her later that week. This gives you an opener to spark a conversation and build on that. Not to mention that if you can spin that into a SNL, you won't even need to accept her Friend Request. Win/win.

If she requests you, then she's probably interested. I would just start up a conversation and proceed to ask her out after a bit of convo development. I just run game as normal as if it's tinder and we matched.

I've just accepted and never messaged, never liked their photos, nothing. A lot of girls who add guys usually add a ton of them and won't add any value to your life if you go out of your way to give them attention
