Wednesday was pretty much dead everywhere when I went out one night, and I tried several venues. Seems like Fridays and Saturdays are the only days worth going out in Jakarta. Don't know if Thursdays are better than Wednesdays though, some clubs are closed on Wednesdays, fable for example. Another nice bar for a date with a girl who actually is worth it is FJ ON 7 in Kemang area. There is also some clubs around there, like "triple nine" where I went. Basically no bule at all. Had a great time there but went with a girl.

As for daygame, the malls are pretty much empty in the weekdays, could go hours without seeing any approachable girls. Weekends are better.

Is that budget accurate 100k rup per day - almost $7 usd ?

What budget would allow you to game , eat at decent restaurants and rent a decent 1 bed apt with air con ?

I am planning a Far East tour and want to add Jakarta to the rotation trying to get updated details.

I'd say 100k per day extends to food only, as he would be living in absolute poverty if all of his expenses fell under this budget.

In fact, 100k doesn't go very far at all. 100k at a 711 would get three mediocre TV dinners, a bottle of coke and maybe a chocolate bar.

Street food or Warung food isn't that cheap either. Anything that falls below <10K Rupiah is probably risky for consumption, especially in Jakarta.

Frankly, I don't know how he does it, unless he is cooking most of his own food. If that's the case, 100k can go pretty far.

I'll try to answer based on my recent trip, but i'm also curious how Barbar manages to keep his expenses so low, particularly where he is renting, what kind of place and for how much.

A studio or 1br with an AC near Grand Indo (5-10 min walk) starts at around $30 per day for a small studio on airbnb if you're lucky, most likely $40+ for a 1br. Obviously there are discounts for longer term stays, but still not cheap. Nice apartment building with swimming pool, gym, sauna, etc, though not very high end.

A meal at a typical restaurant in Grand Indo is 100K+ rupiah (no alcohol). Less than that at the Grand Indo food court (maybe around 50K). Much more at higher end places.

A weak vodka soda at a popular night club (X2/Dragonfly) or a high end bar (Skye) is 100K+, can be 120K or more even. A bottle of local beer is around 50-60K.

You can buy cheaper food at supermarkets, but it's nothing like Thailand where you can get a nice breakfast for a buck or two at a supermarket food court or a cheap cafe.

Risky to consumption in that the quality is rubbish definitely, in regards to getting sick there are plenty of <10k options that taste good and won't make you ill. If there is a big queue of Indonesians that's a good sign.

RE: Jakarta Datasheet (by Irish)
Hey Guys,

thank you for all the responses.

Anyhow I am here and I do not want to end up complaining that Jakarta is not what it was expecting and I cannot enjoy it because I am young and on the budget. I am aware that I won't bring home new hot chick every week, I am simply looking for one or two solid ones that will allow me to focus on business and career. I think this should be still much easier than in Europe. I believe I am still guy who had/has interesting life with future potential and also has something to offer for a decent girl.

When I am walking the street or driving motorcycle I do still get a lot of looks from random girls (usually hijab though), other girls give me eye contact and return smile while we are passing in the mall. Sometimes I hear comments behind my back “hello mister, you are cute”, etc. But 95% of them are still regular girls, nothing worth approaching. However I know there is still a lot of attraction in the air => if I cannot get a girl here, then there must be something really wrong with me Big Grin

My living costs:
it is 100k just for food and fun only, so accommodation is not included in these money. I usually eat street food or cook by myself. It is hard to find street food that has some nutrition value, but there are few. One meal costs around 20k - 30k. So true there is not much space for the “fun spending”.

Actually if my financial situation is not going to improve in upcoming two months, I will probably leave this place.

Game:
I agree with Satoshi, malls are during weekdays empty and if there is any cute girl, she is there with her family. Weekends are better and it is possible to spot 8's or 9's. However there in sets of 3-5 girls only, have not seen a cute single set for a long time.

My Day Approach in Europe consisted from direct (reason why I came to her) and continued with conversation that took 5-10 mins. Then I asked for number or proposed instant date. I did approaches of single or double sets.

There is something I understand might be a problem and was already mentioned by Irish. There are actually not so many girls to game … already happened to me that I knew in person someone from girl's social circle or she was attending same events as me … and I really do not know that many people. Also, when I walked in Grand Indo I might seen 10 approachable girls, but actually they were in three groups => just three options to approach in Jakarta`s most famous mall. I can imagine I would meet those same girls or their friends next day or next weekend as well.

For this reason I do not actually see that much operational space for calibration by mass approaching. Game rules are way different from what I was doing in Europe (only 3-5 sets, cannot go direct, girls might be insecure and shy, might think I just want to bang her as a bule, might think I want to buy her things as a bule, …). If I come to the girl and simply ask for Line, I am back to text game which I hate and cannot perform that well.

Is there anyone who actually tried Day Game in Jakarta or knows someone who does/did? Are you aware of any local PUA community here?

Would be really awesome if there is anyone who could discuss with me a bit how text game should look like here … I do not want to post my conversations publicly online. I believe as for Day Game there are simply few sticking points that might move my game to different level.

Feel free to send me PM if you want to meet up or just simply share something.

Thanks

You are going to struggle if your food and recreational budget is only 100k/day. That leaves no money to even take a girl on a date.

I think hitting the malls in general isn't gonna lead very far. Say hypothetically, you approach and a girl and its going well, you can't really suggest grabbing a drink at one of bars/cafes in the malls or you're not eating for the next three days.

Also, the prospect of you having no money to do anything is unlikely to make them want to stick around.
I'm not trying to be harsh, I just think think you need to be a bit more realistic at this stage. The kind of a girl you are looking for will be extremely difficult to attain in your current circumstances.

I know you are finding Tinder/Badoo a bit tedious etc, but without a social circle and efficiency in the language, I can't really see another road you can take. Out of interest, how many girls have you banged since you have been in Jakarta/ Were they all through online?

There's nothing wrong with banging 5's and 6's in the meantime whilst you try and get yourself a better setup.

Barbar, which part of the city do you stay in, what kind of apartment and how much is the rent? What is your logistics like? Sorry if this is question is too personal and feel free to tell as little as you want or nothing at all. I believe guys who are considering Jakarta would benefit from this information.

Also, if you have good logistics, it should be possible to invite girls either straight to your place or at least get some coffee nearby on the cheap and then bounce to your place (you're probably already doing this).

Is Grand Indo the place to be in Jakarta?

I'm also curious about your situation Barbar, I'm planning on going to Indonesia for 2 months (Jakarta most likely, but Surabuya might do).

Well, while I'm here I might as well get some opinions for some of you guys.

If I wanted to stay in Jakarta for 2 months, get a 1 bed room apartment with decent logistics, could I do this on say, 2500-3000 USD excluding airfare? Trying to gauge just how cheap Indonesia is.

My life style would mainly be

- Eat about three times a day, ideally. Would consider cooking, but I'm not sure on the grocery situation in Indonesia.

- Mainly there to self study, relax and fuck.

- I'm not a huge party guy, but I do like the option of going out and hitting up the bars especially in a foreign land. I don't really pop bottles.

- Playing off the last point, I tend to pregame at my own place.

- Ideally, I'd like the option of a gym.

Hey guys,

Preparing for my first trip to Indonesia, which will be Jakarta. Following the advice of some members here, I am renting a place at the Thamrin Residence.

Any idea of how much a Taxi from the airport would cost / how long it would take ? I'd like to avoid getting screwed the minute I step in this country...

Cheers.

Be sure to take a Blue Bird taxi from the airport. 200-250k rupiah (15-18 USD) should be reasonable. Get ready to see some unreal traffic... and if you arrive during rush hour, it'll take your taxi about 45 minutes just to get out of the airport.

That's why I recommend arriving like 1am, drop your bag at the hotel and head straight to clubs. Too much traffic especially on a Friday night between 5pm and 10pm.

RE: Jakarta Datasheet (by Irish)
First night out in Jakarta, I'll just do a quick summary, I'll try to drop a more elaborate field report after I leave.

Took cab from airport to thamrin residence, paid fixed rate of 250k. Clean Slate was on point.

Went to the 7/11 to buy a SIM Card with Data, I took the XL plan with 1gig. My phone had some trouble activating everything, but my friend had no trouble and his data is working fine, so I guess my phone is the problem.

Left to the club around 2am (late, setting up the SIM took that much time), and headed to X2. Saw a bunch of white guys and girls close to the elevator, but the club was otherwise full of local girls. It was late so it wasn't that packed, but I noticed that many of the prettier girls come in groups and have a table. I roamed around and got the number of a fresh 18yo Indo girl. I didn't push for the close when she left as she was with friends and the night was still young. Paid 150k for entrance (with one drink). Drinks inside were the same price.

After that, we had the tremendous idea of checking upstairs, which is Equinox, another club. Entered for free, and found a much more crowded dance floor, with a ton of talent. The amount of eye rape I received was unreal, and I've been to the Philippines multiple times. Chatted/danced with a few girls and brought one of them home. I picked the short straw as she was on her period, but she was really sweet and took care of me anyway.

Jakarta, good first impression !

Heading to Jakarta in mid July and really excited for it after reading this thread! Just did a bit of a look through Tinder as well and the talent looks amazing.
Unfortunately I'll only be there for a few days, arriving on Friday 8th July and heading off again on the 12th July. If anyone will be there then send me a PM.

Will do.

The thing I'm torn between right now is, as I'm there over a weekend, do I pipeline girls online and just go for dates with them or do I go clubbing and try night game?
As I'm usually only in countries for a few days my usual MO is to pipeline via Tinder and then just go on as many dates as possible. However night light in Jakarta has got me intrigued!

Idk to be honest. You seem to like the Indonesian look so it might be easier for you. I was doing something like 90 or 95% left swipes in tinder and still I managed to met up with a few girls I didn't like when I saw them.

From my limited experience there, I'd say that both clubbing and tinder game are definitely possible, even for a short stay.

To maximise your tinder potential, I'd pipeline a few days in advance to set up a few dates. The girls schedule can be busy, but they are usually free on WE.

As for the clubs, everyone says that it's dead outside of thursday/friday/saturday, so don't bother if you're not coming for a WE.

Pipeline and find out which ones go to clubs and which clubs they go to. Tally up how many and who is at each one so that you have backups when you go there. Tell them you might go to that club the nights you are there. When you go there and maybe aren't hitting it off with anyone new, shoot them a message. This might backfire as they could ruin your game when you're in there. On the flipside, they'll raise your SMV immensely.

The ones that are keen but don't do clubs, take on dates in the day. Sleep can wait for the plane.

I'm not a huge beer guy and finding spirits that aren't 100,000IDR/glass is difficult. Buy a bottle at the airport when you arrive if you pregame. Keep us updated

RE: Jakarta Datasheet (by Irish)
So I went to Jakarta for 4 days in May/June, and thought I would do a quick trip report about gaming and general things to know. Some of it may be a repeat of things previously said, but at least you'll know they are still up to date.

Arriving/Logistics:
The airport is pretty far from Central Jakarta where you will probably be staying, so expect to spend some time in the taxi. I arrived rather late, so the traffic wasn't that bad. It took me around 40 minutes to reach Thamrin Residence. I paid 250k for 2 people and luggages, but in retrospect that was rather high. Consider negotiating or renting an Uber.

Even if you're only staying a few days, I recommend getting a local SIM (just data will suffice). You can get it in many stores, including 7/11.

Location wise, it's a good idea to stay near two of the high end malls which are Grand Indonesia and Plaza Indonesia. Of the two I would say Plaza Indo is more high end, and therefore emptier, and there are more restaurants in GI if you go way up the floors. Seating is semi-open too, which is nice. As such, any condo near or in Thamrin City is a pretty neat place to be.

Girls :
I was honestly surprised by the quality here. So far in SE Asia, I have mostly gone to the Philippines where I like the average look of a cute Filipina, but where I think it's harder to find one that stands out. In Jakarta, I saw many cute girls, in the clubs / enjoying the high end malls of course, but also in the streets. Even the girls occupying the low paying jobs in malls, cafés etc were sometimes cute. I would say that girls are curvier here tan in the rest of Asia, but I didn't see too many fatties (less than in Manila for example). Skin color wise, I've seen everything from Chinese like fair skin to tropical brownish.

Clubs:
Since I arrived on Saturday, I only had one real night out, and I liked what I saw. I went to X2 (and Equinox, which is just above) which is mostly filled with locals, though there are a few foreigners/expats here and there, sitting at tables most of the time. The crowd was friendly and it was easy to talk to people to get some numbers. As Irish said, it's probably possible to get enough numbers to keep you busy during the week. I got 2 numbers (including one from a crazy girl, quickly deleted) before I found a chick that was down to go home with me. Drinks are expensive, but I now run my game with little to no alcohol, so I didn't mind that. I would like to explore other clubs next time, as I heard mostly good things. Immigrant for example seems to be the place where most foreigners go nowadays.

Online game:
If you have time, change your tinder location to Jakarta and start matching a few days before you arrive. I saw a lot of quality and quantity, so decided to be selective. It worked rather well, as I had a date (or more) for everyday that I was there. Between my friend and I, we experienced some flaking and some extreme delay from girls, but they generally let you know.

I didn't spend too much time chatting on Tinder and quickly asked for their whatsapp (they all had it). There I would ask them for their schedule and try to push for a date quickly. We are not the only one playing this game, so I believe it's best to act fast.

My typical date would be :
- Meet at the mall
- Do some stuff there, like eat, get an ice cream or just walk around. I even did some Batik shopping with one of the girls.
- Mention your swimming pool or something cool to do at your place, and start going there without making too much of a fuss.
- Once in your room, quickly forget about the swimming pool and build comfort to go for the kiss early. One move that always helped me close is to show her the view from my room while holding her close by the waist.

Some girls showed a bit of LMR, some not at all. If they are being too reluctant or saying stuff like "I can't", a good strategy is too simply start ignoring them and do something else : go on your computer, watch TV etc... they will quickly come close to you and demand your attention again.

Results :

- Notch count +4 (could have been 5 if the last one didn't have her period)
- Unlocked golden touchdown
- Unlocked Indonesian flag

Quick comparison to Manila :
I would say that I liked the quality better in Jakarta than Manila, where the girls are perhaps a bit more westernized and can sometimes give you the bitch attitude. Both act very sweet once they like you anyway, and I would say that both would be a good choice for LTRs.
The malls are more high end in Jakarta, but Greenbelt is nicer to hang around. Makati in general is much nicer to walk around than central Jakarta : the roads are nice, there is vegetation, and generally more things to do. In Jakarta, even getting from my place to the mall was cumbersome.

That's about it, I'll add some more stuff if it comes back to me.
