Quick update after I had yet another long weekend trip over in my favourite Asian party city.

I checked out a couple of new places while I was there:


Lucy in the Sky

Lucy in the Sky is an open air garden/terrace bar located close to X2. I went there with a couple of chicks on the Thursday night and it was fairly busy but a lot younger crowd. I presume it's a pre-gaming place for X2 as the crowd seemed to be pretty similar. There was a surprising number of young white dudes there and were approaching (& social circle gaming) more aggressively than what I have seen in other venues. May have been a one off but seemed to be a little more competitive than other venues, I observed a few groups of young guys who had strong social proof in the venue and knew a lot of girls. I presume LITS is their regular and they have the place fairly well on lockdown. Fair play to them. I get the impression that the place is a regular haunt for uni students and young professionals who mix together outside the nightscene as well as it appeared a lot of folk already knew eachother. But this is judging from my observations from one night so hardly conclusive. I would say definitely worth checking out if you're pre 30s and like the X2 crowd.


Colosseum Club

Colosseum Not sure how I hadn't managed to hit up this place before, went there with a random hottie chick I picked up in Immigrant and a buddy. I would probably categorise this place as your post club dodgy druggy venue alongside Milies and Illegals. However it's a pretty impressive club with a fairly spectacular lighting display and great sound, they also had a couple MCs and some pretty smoking dancers (all white chicks surprisingly). An impressive show all round. The crowd seems to be a mix of your usual dodgy druggy local folk with sunglasses spaced out dancing alone but also your more upper market dodgy fuckers too on tables with whiskey, shisha and about 10 chicks. I didn't see many (or any) white folk.

Certainly on face value a much better club than Milies and Illegals and if you are into your dance music you'll want to check this place out (think it gets a fair number of big DJs playing there as well). However, these sort of places aren't ideal for picking up as most of the chicks will be locked up on a table and/or off their heads on drugs. I would say there is probably more potential to pick up in Colosseum than in Milies/Illegals as there were a couple viable options, but it's still hard to read the crowd and potentially dangerous if you hit on the wrong girl. Stick to the likes of Dragonfly/Immigrant/X2 etc for pulling and use Colosseum more as your end of night plan B 'Hail Mary' option if you haven't scored.

I normally use these dodgy druggy after party places to bring girls that I have already picked up in the 'normal' clubs to get more fucked up and intimate with. However, given the nature of the place being a massive open room there it didn't really seem to be ideal to facilitate this. For example Milies and Illegals are both smaller, darker and have sofas around the sides which are quite hidden away where you can bring your girls. Tho Collosseum had sofas too they were less hidden from view and seemed to be all booked up.

To be honest Colloseum probably has other rooms and seperate parts to it which are more suited for bringing girls which I didn't see, I didn't get a chance to really walk around the place and check it out properly. Too busy working the chick I was with who was high on all kinds of a substances and a bit of a loose cannon. But it was certainly an interesting place (and an interesting night, with a very happy ending )

Note also that it is based right in the very north of the city so can be a bit of a drive from the likes of Dragonfly/Immi/X2 etc.


BATS ('Bar At The Shangrila')

BATS Based downstairs at the Shangrila Hotel, I was in here briefly to kick off the night on Saturday. A notorious hooker bar it certainly lived up to its reputation, as was swarming with low grade hookers and creepy old white dudes. However my buddies had gone on a few other occasions midweek and it is actually a pretty fun place to go to kick off your evening with an entertaining live band playing. You can also pregame with having some banter with the hookers to warm you up before you hit up the main clubs. If you are in Jakarta for the week it is one of the few places guaranteed to get a crowd on say a Monday or Tuesday night, tho would avoid it at the weekend in favour of other venues.

As regarding the minimart alcohol ban, to be honest I noticed little to no effect. We had stocked up on beers in the apartment for a few pre party drinks then after just hit the bars & clubs after that (unaffected by the ban). If you are the type trying to keep to a tight budget and do a lot of your pre-drinking outside a 7/11 then you will be more affected but at the same time you are missing out on a hell of a lot what Jakarta has to offer in that case.

In the few days I was there I had yet another awesome time, smashing two chicks (one a stunner who was showing me videos of her squirting on her phone) and got an excellent BJ from a third while her friend was pretending to be asleep next to me in my bed. I have potentially befriended a new bi/threesome chick now who is both hotter and less drama than the previous one, although I am still keeping her in the picture also. Again is like the alpha female of her group but has hotter friends also. Had a 3way makeout with her and her friend and now she's sending me naked photos (her chassis is slamming). Say's she's down for some three&moresomes and has a couple of hot (and apparently bi) friends too, so will be keeping her warm until am back in the city

I also have 3-4 of really fit potential chicks texting me now who are keen. All friends with bi girl. I'm actually losing count of the potential options now, all (IMO) high 8s and 9s (I'm a high quality low quantity guy). All from cold approach and warm social circle introductions. Didn't even bother with online when I was there.

Can't wait to get back to the city...

Can confirm everything conveyed by Irish. My first visit to this city and first post here. I have recent experience of HK and BKK but the nightlife here (if played well) is awesome. Irish runs the perfect game for this town and has an enviable harem of local chicks who are off the scale hot.
 
Some initial impressions from a newbie as follows;

General impressions – To give you some context I may have set myself some impossibly high standards in terms of notches before I arrived. I pipelined hard and in retrospect it accounted for half of my kills. Not sure I would go so hard again given the time-consuming nature of it and the other options available on the ground while there. The quality is generally high and might be the best in SEA but I wouldn’t go there expecting high notch counts along the lines of the Phils. If quality over quantity is your game then you need time here and a degree of perseverance. I had neither to be fair so my spreadsheet is looking woefully light as I tap this out. However, if you have an extended period of time here then you can do well. A prime example of this is a certain stand-up guy (let’s call him Mr Bats given his liking for that bar) who I met on Night 1 – he had been in Jaks for a couple of weeks already and was steady and meticulous about his recruitment efforts. So much so in fact that he was the only guy I have met who actually takes the time to read Tinder profiles before swiping. Incredible I know..! He left the overall impression that he was not as thirsty as me and the chicks probably picked up better on his vibe that he wasn’t a 20 a week kinda guy and this worked well in his favour.
 
Flakiness was also quite high here but that may be a general SEA chick trait. I also found a couple of slutty ones…and who doesn’t like those types! Good example being one from Immigrant who I had part pulled a previous night (Mr Bats converted). She was dangerously close to being certifiable but I played along for kicks with her increasingly bizarre texts and when I met her in the same venue another night she was literally all over me (crotch-grabbing etc.) while simultaneously snogging her completely unaware bloke. Interesting to say the least and that kind of shit goes down fairly regularly I would think.

Logistics – get yourself based in Thamrin or close to it as traffic can be a challenge. I stayed in Thamrin Residences where there are usually quite a few Airbnb options. From there you can set up pipeline dates or hook up with new Tinder matches at either Plaza Indonesia (high-end mall) or Grand Indonesia mall. There are decent meet-up options such as Social House, Bar 99, Cork and Screw or Paulaner Bar. These places are walkable and in most cases far quicker than grabbing a taxi.

Night game – covered fairly extensively here. Immigrant seems to be the venue of choice currently although tried out Blowfish (Wednesday was quiet) and Illegals. Girls are generally approachable and can’t recall too many shoot downs. A fair number of expats there on Friday and Saturday nights...all seemed a very cool bunch and cock-blocking etc. never seemed to be an issue.  Can really recommend getting a couch and bottle service as this helps pull in the chicks and if your night game is good then you can attract quite a few lookers who are passing by. Minimum spend is around IDR 4m which gets you a couple of bottles and mixers thrown in…not the cheapest perhaps but if in a group it seems to be more cost effective than buying individually plus you can play the international playboy / rock star gig for the night. Locals chicks seem to love it and if already with a harem then it does tend to give you an element of social proof.

Costs – overall reasonable other than drinks which can be quite a bit eye-watering. Loewy’s for example took around 15 USD each for a pint of Erdinger. Another thing to bear in mind is the actual volume of notes you need to carry around with you on a night out…if you are reluctant to pay by card then you will be carrying a whole bunch of shit tickets. Not quite Weimar Germany carry in a wheelbarrow stuff but sizeable quantities all the same. Taxis are cheap though and food can be picked up relatively cheaply too.

Gym – I picked up a 5 day free pass for Celebrity Fitness in Plaza Indo. Top-end gym with great equipment. As there is relatively little to do in Jaks during the day I would recommend this as a good option to put in the daylight hours.

Dress – if going to high-end places like Loewy’s, Immigrant or Blowfish then make an effort. We tended to roll with shirts, blazers and smart trousers. Thankfully it’s not BKK hot or Singapore humid so you can get by fairly comfortably wearing that. The girls really do make an effort here and generally they look gorgeous with just the right mix of sluttiness thrown in. A few fatties by SEA standards but more the exception than the rule.

Overall – Jakarta is great party city. Nightlife is plentiful and the chicks are great fun. As mentioned, it is not Manila in terms of notch counts but if you have some patience and game you will leave with fantastic memories. My count was weak but it was more than compensated by the awesome guys I met there. Recommended.

Although the Celebrity Fitness in Plaza Indo doesnt have a squat rack, there is also Golds Gym in Thamrin City or Fitness First in Grand Indo, the benefit of the Fitness First being a nice outdoor pool which gets good sun.

Cheers man, was great to meet you too and I appreciate the positive feedback. I have always preferred the approach of repeat visits to certain places to build up a bit of a social circle and hareem and get some venues on lock and really try to break into the hotter level of girls. Having a crowd of hot girls at your table does wonders to elevate you above all the other chumps in the venue, making it easy to pick up new ones and it all just snowballs from there. I just have to get out of the habit of constantly bouncing between multiple chicks all night long and instead know when to focus on locking one (or two) down to take home at the end of the night.

I think that was my 6th or 7th visit to Jakarta now but I'm surprised how many chicks I have in my social group there now. There actually were a couple more hotties that you guys didn't get to meet (incl the two from the whatapp group photo and the bikini model on my LINE). The thing about Jakarta is that it seems almost all the hottest girls seem to somehow know eachother (be it either friends or enemies). By befriending the 'alpha females' of the respective groups, she will bring along her friends and you have an easy warm intro into them all.

The perfect example of this being how fast that tall bombshell chick (the one who's BF would later square up to me with his 7 pals) took a shine to me after I got a proper introduction by the ringleader. Contrast this with the previous trip over when I tried cold approaching her in Immigrant only to get completely blanked like I wasn't even there.

Agreed. As we discussed at the time Jakarta aint really a 'spreadsheet' city High notch counts are definitely the Philippines territory. Jakarta you won't rack up the numbers quite as quickly and online isn't quite as good in comparison but in my experience there is much superior quality attainable, which is more what I am looking for.

The concept of having a spreadsheet or a notch-target I feel puts unnecessary pressure on yourself and will fuck up your outcome independence. I know on a couple of nights you went out at the beginning of the night saying you really needed to get a score on the door that night and the 'pressure was on' which would have translated itself into coming across more thirsty than you really actually were in your interactions I suspect. But the remaining couple of nights you could see you were more relaxed and focusing on having a good time.

I am a bit lazy with the online game and tinder but Mr BATS certainly has me convinced to give it more of a go. Certainly a couple of my hareem chicks I actually did initially meet on tinder (such as the hottie who hilariously arrived paralytic on our table Friday and one of the alpha females way back when I first moved to Singapore). Much as I find it a bit of a drag trawling through matches and setting up dates there is fruit to be had for sure. You get out what you put in

Note that you were there while Dragonfly was shut. It would be good if you could come back and check the place out when it reopens. Personally I find the talent there superior to Immigrant and even easier to pick up. From chatting to the girls Wednesday nights used to be a big night but recently seemed to die down. Blowfish was a bit of a gamble as the chat was they were running some of the nights DF normally did while it was closed. So I was hoping it was also getting the DF crowd. But was it was stone dead that Wednesday.

Sure is and I find the girls way more fun and liberal than the other types you find around SE Asia, not to mention the top drawer ones seem to be comparably much more attainable I find. If racking up the notches is your game then for sure hit up Philippines, but if you want to lay hot party girls who know how to have a good time and are down for anything, Jakarta is your place.

Does anyone know how easy it is to find a short term apartment in a decent location for a month? I am undecided about whether I should stay in Jakarta or Bangkok for a month. I also assume that the rent in Jakarta is a lot higher than in Bangkok?

Plenty of Airbnb options in Thamrin Residences. Not sure on monthly rates but I was paying around 35 USD per night based on 9 nights. Think if you were there for a month then you could probably get the rate down to around 25 USD. PM if you want details of where I stayed.

Also in front of Thamrin Residence on the back roads between Tanah Abang are a number that are walking distance to Plaza Indo etc. Could be worthwhile booking 1/2 nights either near Ambassador or Plaza Indo and spending a day looking at which one you like best. My friends gf is moving to a kost in same area as the one in the link above and its less than $200.

Also with kosts ask first if you can have guests there, a number can be only one sex or not permit members of opposite sex to visit so best to check in advance what their rules are. Often there are shared kitchens and communal areas, I have only seen a couple with pools.

I stayed in W Residence in Kemang, big room with ensuite, balcony, shared kitchen and a pool which was around $400 for exec room, but logistics werent as good as central. Kemang is quite popular though and there is a Beer Garden Bar 50m away.

They are not really strict about that but yeah the rules are there. So just be careful and it's better if you have all of the documents you need to stay in Jakarta.

This shouldn't really be a problem for most people, the guys they picked up in Jaksa were all overstaying their visas for a long time. In my last apartment they had posted up signs saying all residents need to supply management office with their KITAS. Anyone just on holiday will be fine, but I have been advised to carry a photocopy of my passport and visa page as they do appear to be having a crack down on foreigners presently.

What's up guys new to the forum here but not new to the game. Just did a 5 day trip to Jakarta last week so I thought I would contribute my experience to the forum.

Arrival:
A friend of mine told me the last time he was in the Jakarta airport it was old with no Air-Con. But that was a few years ago and luckily for me when I arrived there they had remodeled the place and it was quite nice with Air-Con.
They are also in the process of building a big brand new terminal so I think this airport is going to look pretty good once construction is finished. I get to the taxi stand and I'm asking them the cheapest option into the city. As they were giving me my options this American Ex-pat guy overheard my conversation and offered to give me a free ride into the city with his taxi. Luckily his hotel was right next to my accomadation. He told me he remembered when be was backpacking SE Asia when he was my age (I'm 25 years old) so he knew what it was like traveling on a budget.

Accommodation:
I found a nice studio apartment in Thramin City which is in central Jakarta, right next to the grand Indonesian mall and Plaza Indonesian Mall. I found this studio apartment via Air BNB and I paid $275 for 5 nights which may seem high. But I booked this Jakarta trip literally last minute and it was the best deal I found for a nice accommodation in the city center.

Logistics:
I used Uber allot and I loved it. It was cheaper then taxis and the drivers english abilities tend to be better than your traditional taxi driver. Traffic is a bitch in Jakarta especially in central but late at night it tends to get better.

Daygame:
I didn't do any day game at all since getting around this city is a nightmare because of traffic. Also I would party all night so normally I would sleep the day away.

Tinder:
This is all I used for online game and it worked well for me. 2 of my 4 lays in Jakarta came from tinder.

Night Game:
I will provide a list of clubs that I visited and give you my observations. Note that I was in Jakarta from Monday to Friday so allot of my clubbing experience came on weekdays. Which is quite dead really. Next time I come to Jakarta I'll be sure to arrive on a weekend. But for those of you coming to Jakarta on a weekday maybe this info will help you.

Club 36 (shares the same building as hotel Jayakarta) - This was a straight up hooker bar like 100% of the girls there are pro's. All the guys there are business men getting drunk after their meetings are done. The layout of the club is strange where it's just all tables. No dance floor at all. There is a main stage where 4-5 girls will "dance" more like stand around and boringly move their bodies. The inside is nicely decorated but I didn't stay long

Colosseum Entertainment Complex - This building has many different venues inside. It has a KTV, A spa/sauna (basically a brothel), a club and a few restaurants. I went there on a Monday and the club was closed. The staff told me the club opens on Wednesday - Saturday. My friends who live in Jakarta told me the club here is pretty Good on weekends. So well worth checking out I guess.

Illigals hotel and club - This hotel has a club inside of it but again I went there on a Monday and it was dead. I texted my Jakarta friends and they told me they heard of a new club called 'Crown' and said I should check that out, so I went

Crown - This was the best club I was able to find on that Monday night. Probably for weekdays in general, it's either this club or BATS which has live music but has many hookers inside of it. But crown also has hookers as well. I would estimate about 75% of these girls were hookers when I went there. The interior is really upscale and modern. The club it self is massive. It has a big main club area which plays hardcore trance/EDM, not my thing. Then it also has a secondary club room which plays more top 40 and some hip hop which is more my thing. Anyways I walk into this lounge area that is right next to the secondary club room and see 2 girls sitting on a sofa. I open them and target the better looking girl of the two. The better looking one barely spoke English and I had to use google translate to communicate with her, her less attractive friend didn't speak English at all. We bounce to the club to drinks and dance etc...I noticed that even though this place looks high end and the facility itself is impressive from its size and interior quality. The people who go here on weekdays are not of the upper-class tier. Many of the girls i talked to here either barely spoke English or didn't speak it at all. The staffs english was poor and when I went to the main club room (hardcore trance/EDM) some people were tweaking off drugs, no surprise really). Anyways the girl I was with was cute and she was receptive to my game. She couldn't go back to my place because she didn't want to leave her friend behind and it was her friends birthday apparently. So I got her number and went home. The next day she texted me and came over and we banged all day.

Alexis Hotel:
This hotel also has a club inside it, I forgot the name but they asked for a cover charge and i didn't feel like paying cover for a club on a weekday because from the looks of it it didn't look to popping anyways. But maybe check it out and see for yourself.

**NOTE**
All of these places I mentioned above are in the Kota district of Jakarta. Which is like the seedier/red light district-ish part of town. But since I was confined to clubbing on weekdays my Jakarta friends told me this area would be
My best bet as far as clubs with people in it.

By the way the girl I pulled from crown told me
she worked as part of the staff of the KTV that was attached to crown. Her english was so bad so I wasn't able to figure out what position she did but I really didn't care. She could have been a semi-pro but in the end she never asked me for money. But like I said I estimate crown to be 75% hookers on Weekdays. I don't know about weekends. But don't even bother going to Kota on weekends other than Colleseum (I don't know if I'm even spelling that correctly they spell it In a strange way if memory serves me.

Now I heard club Dragonfly had ladies night on Wednesdays so I went to check it out and I find out it is closed for remodeling. They should be back open sometime in July/August. So I check out Blowfish which is nearby and it was dead, barely anyone inside.

Overall night game on weekdays - For me either crown or bats is your best bet. Until dragon fly re-opens for their ladies night on Wednesdays. But if any of you find a better night game spot on weekdays please share.

Immigrant (inside the plaza Indonesia mall) - Came here Wednesday night after dragonfly and blowfish was a bust. The inside is really nicely designed but it was not that crowded. The crowd seemed to be older, like in the 30's. It's not the biggest club but it was playing decent tunes. Again nightlife in Jakarta is dull, your options are limited and your venues are even more limited. I went to mcdonalds across the street as it was the only thing open at that time. Sat next to a girl who was a 7. Gamed her and she was down to go back to my place haha. First time I ever pulled from a McDonalds.

Empirica - FINALLY it was the weekend and sadly my last day in Jakarta. My local friends were off work and took me to empirica which was really nice. Big venue with all good girls. I had one of my tinder matches meet me there that night. So I was with her the whole time but I saw plenty of hot/cute girls there.

Well there you have it. I know the organization of this post is sporadic but I'm writing this via my smartphone and its a pain the ass to scroll up and down in this text box. I'm sure I have some grammar errors, but this is one of my first data sheets. So give me some slack.

Conclusion:
During the day there's not much tourist attractions to see. Jakarta is just a concrete jungle of buildings with no cool tourist sights. Night game on Weekdays in Jakarta is weak (from my experience that is). I would just do tinder meet ups through out the weekday, then night game on weekends as your venues and options of girls are much better. Also check out this website below as it has good info on the Jakarta nightlife. Sadly this website wasn't the most usefull for me since I was partying on the weekdays and the website seemed to pertain more on the weekend. Just to wrap things up again. If you wanna go out on the weekday give crown and bats a try. You'll probably have to shore, maybe you'll find a good girl. Anyways, hopefully this info will be usefull to some of you. Enjoy

Good for you you got a free ride from the airport
Did you tell him you were backpacking or he thought because of your age that you were backpacking?
At 55$ a night it s very far from backpacking though and in the Kota area where you spent most of your time you could have found much cheaper than that coz South jakarta is always more expensive than North for accomodation.That would have avoided you a lot of taxi rides too.
Never understood the point to be close to Grand Indonesia.This is just another mall like many around Asia....and if a girl really wants to go to your place she will come wherever you stay anyway.
FYI the real backpackers take the DAMRI bus from the airport sleep on Jalan jaksa and use Transjakarta to go around which is quicker than a taxi anyway
