RE: The Baldur's Gate Appreciation Thread
I did not grow up on isometirics. I do not care for Isometrics. But I was able to repeatedly play through Fallout 1 & 2.

Bought this game and... I struggled.

Any pointers?

I also played this game as well as Icewind Dale when I was a nerdy kid.
I have an old copy of those games lying somewhere, looking forward to play it again, should be quite nostalgic.

RE: The Baldur's Gate Appreciation Thread
I have just replayed the whole saga (- Siege of Dragonspear) with kensai/mage. This combo is probably the most devastating in the whole game. Yes, during most of the game you are squishy as fuck (because you can't wear armor, and you don't have any access to protection spells for most of the saga). Irritating, I know.

But...when you get to later levels, you will be an unstopabble killing machine. Improved Haste + Time Stop + Crom Fayr (+ another hammer whose name I forgot) will take care of most bad dudes. Should something survive, Keldorn (with his dispells) and Sarevok (who has a chance of instantly killing - and which is further incresed if you give him the Gythyanki sword) will chop him to pieces with their Greater Whirlwinds and Power Attacks. Ask Melissan (last boss) how much that hurts.

Speaking of mods, I used Unfinished Business, Banter pack (which adds dialoge and fixed some broken quests, such as the one with the Genie), and a few good ones that added content (Return to Brinlaw, Sellswords and Dungeon Crawl).

Ceterum autem censeo Scandinavia delendam esse.

^ GoG is fantastic. I would strongly recommend picking up an isometric RPG called Nox. Game has so many easter eggs and hidden areas. It had one of the hypest multiplayers back in the day too. RIP Westwood.

Another old game that I love is Zeus & Poseidon (ancient greek-centric city building games). RIP Impression Games.

RE: The Baldur's Gate Appreciation Thread
Since I'm living in a pretty boring place right now, I decided to install BG 1+2 Enhanced Editions plus the new SOD expansion and make a trilogy mod install with about 30 or so mods. This should about double the normal playtime at least. Playing as a Kensai/Mage. Took me 2 days basically to get all installed properly, was no joke. The modding community is truly incredible to say the least.

Anyway, see you guys in 2019.
