Does Man Seeking Woman (on FXX) belong in the Manosphere?

The pilot episode is called "Lizard" and it deals with oneitis, night game, and the guys who think The Game was an instruction manual instead of a memoir.

Also Adolf Hitler is alpha as fuck. The first episode was funny and seemed red pill to me, I'm hoping the rest of the season follows suit.

Ha ha ha. Thank you, I needed this. I've just seen John Wick (SPOILER), the guy murders 100 guys in cold blood because they steal his car and kill his dog, but he refuses to hurt the lady contract killer who attempts to kill him. Even the supposedly red pill characters are white knights in today's cinema. Hope this shows makes an exception.

No. Fuck this shit. This is like all those Judd Apatow movies where the main male character is some dorky loser.

I have a feeling all the girls characters are going to be portray as hot and awesome.

RE: Does Man Seeking Woman (on FXX) belong in the Manosphere?
I watched it last night and had high hopes, thought it was okay, it definitely had some funny moments, but I was a little disappointed overall. Usually the pilot isn't the best episode of most shows, so maybe it will pick up steam, I will definitely be watching more episodes.

I think the main character Jay Baruchel was the right guy for the role, he always does a good job of playing the quintessential AFC beta archetype, which is usually the character he plays in most of the Judd Apatow movies he's been in. His beta moments were pretty classic, like shaking his girlfriends' hand after she dumps him and asks if they can still be friends as he's moving out.

I'm sure a lot of guys will not dig his character or the show, but I think characters like his and Steven Merchant in Hello Ladies are easy for a lot of AFC betas to identify and relate with. The reality is that alphas, guys with game, and guys with red pill knowledge are very much in the minority. Also it's a comedy so the end goal isn't necessarily to transform the main character into some red pill alpha playboy.

That said there were shades of red pill and reality of the modern dating era that we live in. Jay Baruchel's roomate/friend Eric Andre (who is pretty funny btw) is a player who surfs tinder all day and picks up chicks with ease, Jay Baruchel's sister sets him up on a date with an actual troll LOL, and then she goes in on him asking "if he works out, if he has a job," and basically tells him his sexual market value is minimal. Then a part I honestly thought was kind of dumb, he goes to a party his ex-GF is throwing and she is dating Adolf Hitler who has been in hiding and is still alive, the red pill in that was how quickly his ex moved on, and was dating a much older man who acts like a cocky asshole.

All in all the show has potential, although the quirkiness had moments that were funny, hopefully there won't be too much silly stupid shit in the future episodes. I think this show may bring more red pill stuff to light and at least show how the dating market is fucked, especially for AFC type guys, apparently the show is set in Toronto if that says anything.

Another show I was almost thinking about posting about is the new HBO show "Togetherness" which I thought has potential as well, while I think it may be a stretch to call it red pill, it definitely touches on red pill issues, and the current sexual market place. The main character is a beta nice guy husband and father, his wife is an aging chick who was probably a solid 7-8 when she was younger, they have two young kids, and the wife has since cut her husband off completely from sex. The wife has an older sister visiting from out of town who is basically a late 30's woman who was a hot slut who rode the carousel, but now has the wall and spinsterhood rapidly closing in on her.

Both these shows should be worth a look, guys on here may rag on them, but bringing the red pill mainstream will probably require a lot of baby steps, both these shows may have the potential to portray the realities of what's going on with a lot of men in this day in age.

John Wick is more or less fine except for the female killer, who has a chance against John Wick in hand-to-hand-combat while countless other much stronger men get owned. Also - not killing that bitch was too much - in reality such a guy would have snuffed her out in a second.

Whether the series is Red Pill remains to be seen - but it shows how tough many men are having it now and how likely clueless they will remain. I would not call it Red Pill - it will probably be lower bottom commiserating at best.

I think the two other shows you mentioned are infinitely better than whatever it is I just watched. While I did laugh, and didn't turn it off, I don't think I'll be watching another episode. Fair warning to all, this show is not based in reality. All I needed was the crazy stuff to be some kind of "flashback" or something, but if the whole show is based in LaLaLand, I have better things to do. Hello Ladies was one of the funniest shows I've ever watched, and I have very high hopes for Togetherness after that great first episode.

I'll take your word for it and watch "Togetherness," which I just found on YouTube.

But keep in mind that Antenna TV is now rerunning the greatest show of all time* "Mr. Belvedere," and this is going to cut into my time watching that, so "Togetherness" better be good.

* I'm torn between "greatest show of all time" and "greatest work of art in all of Western Civilization," so I'll go with the first. For now.

RE: Does Man Seeking Woman (on FXX) belong in the Manosphere?
The second episode was pretty good. The exorcism of girlfriend's past, with the priest telling him to "get balls deep" in a new girl to totally exorcise her, the debate about best way to text game (Funny, straight forward or dick pic), the actual events of the date, Vanessa Bayer's character's response at the check -- this is no primer, but if you have an extra 1/2 hour to watch a DVR'ed show that is silly and goofy (yet Produced by Lorne Michaels, so some money behind it), it is worth a watch -- if nothing but to simply show the competing viewpoints (Getting advice from his sister, his Alpha-ish friend, following his heart)

Then again, I also enjoyedhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixology_%28TV_series%29, and thought it at least touched on RP themes, (though, of course, has BP resolutions).

So far, this show, if you enjoy some physical fantasy comedy, is worth a watch.

RE: Does Man Seeking Woman (on FXX) belong in the Manosphere?
This show was scripted and created by Simon Rich, the son of New York Times columnist Frank Rich.

If we're going to complain that Lena Dunham and company got where they are because they're offspring of the one percent, that should go for Rich too. We are now in a period of history where a big chunk of our entertainment (sans rap) is being done by the offspring of the mega-rich: Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, Lana Del Ray, and now this.

These people have led different lives that most everyone we know and produce art that's different. While that doesn't necessarily make it bad art per se, there is usually the unpleasant stench of contempt for average people in evidence in the songs and programs these people produce.

Most of the great works of art in the 20th century resonated with people because they were created by people like you and me: the big movies, the Beatles music, and books by writers like Stephen King. Spielberg, McCartney, and King might be ultra-rich now, but they grew up like everyone else -- and even perhaps a bit worse. (These are three examples of many.)

What does it say about our society that we now have the offspring of the uber-rich going directly to the head of the class in entertainment? It tells me that whatever art we're getting will likely have a large dose of propaganda (intentional or not) and should be viewed with some skepticism.

And by the way, that line from the priest is exactly the kind of contempt I'm talking about. Catholicism is for the little people, after all.

Rich Jewish people in Hollywood shitting on Christianity? I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you.

Have there been any popular shows or movies that have people going after Jews like always happens with Christianity

By the way, I knew nothing of this new show or the people involved. WHen DoBA mentioned that there had been an anti-Catholic priest line, my Jewdar pinged and a google search told me the rest.

This is called pattern recognition.

I don't hate Jews. I don't think there's a conspiracy. But they control Hollywood and many other levers of power, and many of them hate Christianity and Christians.

I actually wasn't thinking in terms of him being Jewish. But I know Hollywood always gets Catholicism wrong unless a Catholic is doing the writing. They make it a joke -- something that would be considered bigotry if it's done with Muslims or Jews.

A perfect example is "Don Jon," written by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The obsession with confession and the priest's dialogue was from outer space. On the other hand, I just saw the movie "Doubt," written and directed by Irish Catholic John Patrick Shanley and it was uncanny how perfectly he captured the nuances of priests and nuns.

Being Catholic, I've developed a radar for this stuff. But things could be worse. Hollywood really has it in for Mormons. And having spent some time with them in Utah, I think their mockery/fear/whatever is totally unfounded.

I have to say, I've done a complete 180 on this show. I think you have to fight through any dislike you have of the first episode and just try to get with it. The second episode is absolutely hilarious, probably more from a blue pill perspective (SPOILER?: when he's trying to figure out what to text a girl, I can see a lot of betas finding it funny because they can relate to needing a team of their friends to figure out what to text a girl), but it still appeases me quite a bit. I don't know how long this will last, but everyone should watch this show while it's on.

In the last episode there is something funny as he goes to a bar and finds out that his friend the Natural can do SPIRALIZE:

I find it funny as many men don't have a fucking clue why some men succeed - true they see that it is partly looks and height, but sometimes they encounter men with Game and it's black magic to them - it's either manipulation, hypnosis, coercion or something like SPIRALIZE - eyes turning into spinning hypnotic spirals - in order to get laid.

That episode aptly showed what's it like to be an average man as we are mostly born clueless on how to approach women expertly - the way they are created to be talked to.

Or this one:

Needed to bump this thread. This show is becoming a must watch for manosphere people. There is a 24.7% chance that the creator of the show has The Rational Male or Heartiste bookmarked. Last episode started with main dude making it official with his girlfriend, at which point the girl is frozen and unbelievably hot sex aliens come to fuck him because they find men in relationships attractive. Show is insane and hilarious.

This week's episode where they had "Woman Seeking Man" was pretty great. The little girl explaining the math of reproduction to the 29-year-old single girl, the girl's extreme pickiness, the creation of the "perfect" man, the beta orbiter trying to get with her -- and her telling him it would never happen. All excellent, red pill teachings.

That scene was one big Laugh4 ... as a guy.

You're right, each one of those scenes were pretty on point.

The last episode was gross. I usually appreciate well-thought gay jokes but this was just too graphic.

Just about every WWII movie or series.

RE: Does Man Seeking Woman (on FXX) belong in the Manosphere?
I enjoy the show. I like how it takes the mundane out of dating and makes it ridiculous. Well thought out show and I keep watching it weekly.

I thought he didn't kill her because it was against the "rules of conduct" in the hotel. They have no problem (from a white knight standpoint) of dealing with her outside of the "hotel".

That said, I am pretty tired of the "super woman" fighter crap. A woman that size, no matter what her training, wouldn't have a prayer against even a modestly trained man.
