The Beatles - Revolver
The Beatles - The Beatles (often-known as 'The White Album')
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
The Beatles - Rubber Soul
The Beatles - 1967–1970 (often-known as 'The Blue Album')
The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour

I wouldn't mind listening to any of these albums for the rest of my life.

Oh yes, I'm so privileged you literally can't even.

Acid Bath's "Pagan Terrorism Tactics"

It was sweet vindication finally meeting Dax after being a huge fan after 10 years. I'd say this is the first band I ever truly was "into" in that way.

Alice in Chains' "Dirt"

Tell me you don't hear "Rain when I die" and feel your gut clench as Layne wails of Jerry's playing? Still a bit sad that Layne is gone now that I think about it.

I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

A lot of new stuff here I haven't heard before. I'll have to give a lot of these a listen.

I'd have to choose a really long album, with some really long songs. Maybe a double album, if that's allowed.

The Who - Who's Next
Men at Work - Business as Usual
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Led Zeppelin - Song Remains the Same (Live album)

Its tough to pick but if I must it would be Who's Next.

I just never get tired of most of the songs on this album. It opened my eyes to a whole new genre of music.

A close second that I would really have to think on before passing up would be The Eagles greatest hits. Clearly their music is timeless as its about 40 years old and still sounds just as good today as it ever did.

I would find the best 'Essential'/'Greatest Hits'/'Best Of' of either Sly & the Family Stone, James Brown, or Curtis Mayfield, most likely Sly. These guys have music that fits all of my moods and that I never get bored of.

If I had to choose an album and not a compilation, it would be between Sly & the Family Stone - There's a Riot Goin' On, Baby Huey - The Living Legend, and Gang Starr - Hard to Earn

I'd take the silence and give up music all together. That one album would start to get horribly boring and remind me of the days i could listen to other stuff, it would be too frustrating.

For me hands down it has to be Damageplan's New Found Power. That album got me through some of my darkest days. It's main theme is strength, aggression, and rebuilding yourself. Song titles like the albums name, Breathing New Life, Pride, Fuck You, Explode, Reborn, Save Me, and Cold Blooded.

Dark Side is the finest rock and roll ALBUM of all time. I don't think its even in much dispute.

It would be my choice. Everything else after is just taste!

DSOTM has gotten about ten plays in the last month for me, after not listening to it for probably ten years or more.

It holds up. And it speaks to the biggest issues possible -existence, life after death, why are we here - etc...

Great stuff to ponder stranded on a desert island

Some good choices here.

For me it would have to be Led Zeppelin IV

Followed closely by Rush - A Farewell to Kings.

RE: If you could only listen to one other album for the rest of your life.
I have no idea what I would pick. Whatever album I picked would have to meet some criteria:

1) Has to be timeless. Can't be something that's trendy, ot in the moment, or even the decade. It has to still hold up after 30 years or repeated listens.
2) Has to be musically complex enough for me to find something new in it with each listen, so that I don't get bored of hearing it over and over.
3) Has to evoke a range of moods, themes and emotions while being intellectually stimulating.
4) If there are vocals, maybe best that they are kept to a minimum, or use scat lyrics so that the content isn't dated.

Dark Side of the Moon may be the only rock album that comes close to this criteria. But I'm not sure I'd choose a rock album. I think I'd choose 19th or 20th century classical, or jazz from 1970s forward. Which album I'm not sure. Pat Metheny's The Way Up would be on my shortlist because of it's wide range or mood.
