My goal is to get a job, save about 50-100k as fast as I can, and quit working. I have about 2k saved up and no college degree. What possible jobs and opportunities are there for me to achieve my goal ? I have read on the forums that the Bakkan Oil Field and even the Canadian Oil Field is a great place to go since there is a lot of demand and good pay. I live in Texas by the way in case you guys have any recommendations.

I'm young, single, and don't have much to lose. So I plan on training jiu-jitsu full time and make a competitive run at it.

If all you care about is that number and you're willing to bust your ass, then look into all the freight railroads (the big players are: Norfolk Southern, CSX, BNSF, CP, CN, UP). It's an absolute grind. And I mean that in every sense of the word.

Lots of 12 hour days and MANDATORY overtime. Say you're on a 4-10's schedule, but your foreman wants to look good for his supervisor. He sure as shit isn't going to turn down any project passed his way -1), he has an ego, 2) he has his monthly F-350, lake house, and boat payments coming up. Guess what? Your 4-10's just turned into 7-10's. Welcome to the big league.

If you have electrical experience I would highly suggest looking into becoming a Signalman. A man with tight game would be slaying pussy with this career. You'll start out in a traveling "gang" -railroad slang for construction crew, and the company will send you wherever they need you in the state you work in, or possibly the entire country -I knew guys hired out of Chicago working in NY. The company puts you up in a hotel, and they give you a monthly per diem (tax-free). Basically, you would spend your days busting ass outside and go get drunk at the hotel bar when you're done -if you're into that. Some guys can't stay in certain hotels due to drama of them banging the front desk girls.

If you don't have electrical experience then look into being a Conductor. Both are VERY close to being 6 figure jobs after your first year if you want to sell your soul to the company. After a couple years, 6 figures is the norm.

(Having a CDL is a huge leg up, being a Veteran is a shoe-in, make sure you spruce up your resume and cover letter to express that you don't mind being on call 24/7, can work outside in every weather condition, and don't care about weekends, holidays, etc, etc.)

Thanks for the response Monty, I don't know much about the railroad industry yet but I will look into it more.

Could probably be done in India. Wouldn't be much of a life though.
You'd probably be able to live in Thailand in excess of 10 years on that too.
