What's the deal with this ring?
Hopefully I'm putting this in the right forum since my question isn't really about game, just specifically about a ring. Anyways....

This past week there was this girl I saw at church. A thin, pretty good-looking blonde. I had thought about saying hi but I had to leave early so I didn't get a chance. What's weird is that she looked maybe 18-19, and didn't have a guy with her or anything, but she had a ring - on her ring finger. Dodgy

So what's the deal with this? Is this seriously a wedding/engagement ring? Or is it a purity ring or something? I've seen girls before (sometimes in a church setting, sometimes not) that had a ring, but didn't otherwise give off the impression of being married. Anyways, let me know what y'all think.

Somewhere on my apartment floor is one of those damn things from a girl that would take it in every which way except straight vaginal sex, so that she could be "pure" for marriage.

Well it does sound like a good conversation starter. I'm sure there's a good angle to go off it.

I'm guessing that it's one of those "heart" rings I've seen girls wear. I asked a girl in my church group about that awhile back and she explained that how it's worn signifies her relationship status. If the heart is facing outwards that means her heart is still open (i.e. she's single or not committed), when it's closed that means her heart is taken by someone and depending on the situation it may either be moved to the other finger or removed once an engagement ring comes into the picture.

So just glance at it. If the heart on the ring is facing outward it means she's single and looking...consider it an invitation to approach.

I thought those were supposed to be worn on the right hand vs. left/wedding finger.

I've heard of Christian pledge rings worn on that finger and being removed or transferred upon engagement, but I don't know if it's something actual or just personal decoration.

RE: What's the deal with this ring?
The ring with the heart and 2 hands is a Celtic claddagh ring. Primarily Irish in tradition. Named for the town. They are worn properly on the right hand and are traditionally a wedding ring. Heart points out, single, points in, taken. These days they are used as an advertisement. They were more popular in the late 90's and early 00's. If she is 18 or 19, its probably just a ring to look pretty.
You: hey, cool ring, whats your name.
Her: its a claddagh ring, it means i have a boyfriend.
You: cool, he can make us breakfast in the morning.
Sploosh!

The answer to most newb questions is usually

YOU'VE BEEN PLAYING IT TO SAFE

You're depending on your eyes to show you something that will give you internal permission to run some game.

Run up on that broad and give her the good news. Being with you on earth is almost as good as being in heaven with the Lord.
