Bree Essrig is a charlatan looking to earn money with videos. A lot of people do this. The difference here is that since none of her hundreds of previous videos sparked much interest, she realized that putting the words "sexual assault" would earn her the big-time number of Web hits and comments.

And she was right. And this is a scary thing.

At the end of this post is the personal info from a video Bree did Oct. 13, 2013, where she promotes herself. Note the "send me stuff" part -- something that you usually see porn stars write on Twitter. I did a screen-grab of this as well in case she decides to delete it.

My thoughts on the larger issue:

Sexual assault claims have become a "safe space" women can go when they're looking for attention and money because they know they're above reproach. Rolling Stone writer Sabrina Rubin Erdley got no punishment and will probably get a book deal. Her so-called victim "Jackie" has not been taken to task.

I don't know how the manosphere or the media in general can address this and make a difference in a society that was built on Christian chivalry (i.e. sanctifying women) and then added a healthy dose of Marxist feminism (i.e. hating men).

Are the claims in this video actually sexual assault? Doesn't matter. What matters is that she's managed to gin up further hysteria.

She got Web hits and lots of comments and is setting herself up as a the new Laci Green, which was obviously her goal. But more importantly, the more people see the constant stream of alleged "survivor stories," the more the government or the schools or big business gets to take away our rights and freedoms in the name of "women's safety."

Society is virtually unrecognizable from what it was in the '70s. Back then it would be unthinkable that if you mentioned something sexual in the office you'd get fired or the entire Greek system at a college would be shut down (WTF???!!!) because of an article that was questioned from the get-go.

If this is where society went in thirty years, what will it be like thirty years into the future? Or ten years? Each video like this is like a droplet of water on a broken roof. A few of them don't matter, but the cumulative effect means the building structure gets ruined. Freedom is our country's building structure and it's being eroded by the constant torrent of claims like this which perversely use the very technology built by men to incriminate men.

We're re-entering a frightening phase of humanity Arthur Miller warned about in "The Crucible." If anyone can get a chance to see a stage production of that, I'd recommend it.

It's a form of a security blanket. She is trying to hide her insecurity, which comes across quite clear through her voice, by putting up a defensive posture (keeping her palms closed and hands bunched up, open palms are a sign of submission and respect) but also hidden behind the clothes to make her feel safe.

I couldn't watch the video for more than a few seconds.

Having said that, I don't care how crazy she is I would be all like....

I've said this a couple times now. We need to be more aware of instances where we are being trolled by someone for internet traffic. Not just "we" as in the forum, but as in all people.
