This is misdirection and a reframe.

If you accept the notion that he was misquoted, you're tacitly accepting the idea that it would have been OK to fire him if he'd actually said the original quotes. This is a very common feminist tactic when they feel they're losing a battle: get someone who appears to be neutral on the issue to show that it was a "misquote" or "didn't happen like we thought", as if it would have been OK otherwise. It's one of the main reasons SJWs are always gaining ground even when they should be losing: people accede to their frame.

All Tim Hunt's supposed statements were true. The very reaction to them proved them true by displaying all the exact qualities he was talking about. You should not be able to fire a scientist (whose work is peer-reviewed and therefore ostensibly separate from their views and beliefs) for having politically incorrect opinions, and you most certainly shouldn't be able to fire them for saying things which are verifiable as true.

So some crazy women misquote you at twitter for whatever reasons and the whole world turn crazy? We are so quick to believe every headline we see in the news without wait and counter check it.
Some crazy journalist write some crab and everyone quote it and don't check it. But do they ever learn? With the internet it get even worse. People try so spread their political agenda or personal interest and not be fair any more. Its sad how easy a life can be destroyed these days. I remember about this girl that made some joke about africa and get aids, or other people that write some harmless stuff that is obviously a joke and after it went viral they see their life crushed.

And then people online love it to see those live destroyed because they call it social justice. At the end its just cruel and hateful behaviour.

I wrote my feelings about this on the other thread. Tim Hunt's amazing work has touched us all in a positive way, he did nothing wrong and was punished unjustly. If you toe the line and are punished anyway, why toe the line at all? That woman has contributed nothing to the world but bitterness, Tim Hunt has extended our lives with his discoveries. You make the call, I know which side I am on...
