RE: how often do you party? Does it sidetrack you?
It's shit. Unless you're in a city where the nightclubs get good ratios (which is rare), it's not worth it.
Cons:
- Fucks up your sleep
- Fucks up your throat and lungs (assuming the club or law allows smoking)
- Fucks up your ears
- Exhausts you for the following day
- If ratios are shit the odds are against you, primarily because the girls start to shut off and all end up leaving with their female friends. I've seen girls literally arm-locked to protect against getting separated by the hordes of hungry guys.
- Wastes your money
- Wastes your time
- Too loud to communicate
- Boring. In Australia for example, it's lots of people yelling inane shit, being cliquey, talking about nothing, then getting wasted and doing 'dancing' which mostly involves jumping up and down. If I want non-girl-related fun, I want it to have a throttle, or to involve new experiences, or to involve a beach and water or other pleasant out-door stuff.
- I enjoy drinks but don't like getting drunk (fucks up my game)
- Don't enjoy 'dancing' unless it's an actual dance like salsa
- Chicks are mediocre (caked in makeup)
- More conducive to ONS, which I don't enjoy since it's insufficient sex (I prefer a girl I'm happy to bang for at least 3 days straight, over a fast bang with a girl I don't want to see again)
- Everywhere else is better. Literally everywhere. Probably even a bakery or a small car park could get you better "burden per lay". In normal settings, the girls are more conservative and girlfriend-worthy, better looking in their natural state, not being hounded by other guys, are relaxed, have a higher regard for you by default, and you can actually talk to them without yelling.
Pros:
- If you're impatient, and get lucky, the sex can happen very fast
As per my "do clubs pay hot girls to go?" thread, I'm convinced that in a lot of cities, clubs are simply a load of bullshit that benefit their owners only, at the expense of their naive young male chump clientele. Unless the clubs are drawing at least 30% normal women, you shouldn't spend a dime there.

RE: how often do you party? Does it sidetrack you?
I spent some of the best nights of my life in clubs. I felt alive and absolutely manic with energy and at the time I remember saying that these nights were literally changing my life. This was over a period of about 10 months when I was young and free (though I still am), and without many responsibilities, with a fair enough disposable income, and lots of time to simply exist in a young, stylish metropolis. I was drawn by the pulsing house music and hot, stylish people whom I saw. (It was difficult to actually say anything of substance over the music.)
After those first few nights, I kept coming back to the clubs, going to different places, instilling myself deeper into clubland. I talked with everyone and got to know some of the local characters - the people who you always see out, doing something club-related or another that would look strange back in the light. (Things like some weird dance, or having some weird conversation about subjects very local to the scene or to the city that 99% of people in the world would find quite strange.)
After a while, I found it difficult to replicate those nights of energy and joy that I felt at first. I`d go clubbing and something would just be off. There would be some douchebag who was ruining your vibe on the walk to the next place, or the music would be shit, or you might just not have been feeling well because you had a bad lunch or something. I spent a lot of energy chasing the dragon of what clubbing can be when I could have been at the gym or making money.
Generally these days I`d rather meet up with forum members or friends or people who otherwise will advance my ideas or life in some small way, and have some drinks, and be in bed fairly early so that I can get in some exercise the next morning. Clubbing gave me some of the best nights of my life but it was also a lot of wasted time, and I`m pretty sure that I can get basically the same utility by doing other stuff now. If the goal is to meet girls, as Phoenix said, there are infinitely better ways to do it during the day.

Going to parties (i.e clubs) is generally a waste of time.
Throwing parties, on the other hand can be quite profitable.
(Dinner parties, birthday parties, pool parties, BBQs etc)
The quality is better, you have very high social proof(since you're the host)
and you're guaranteed to meet women who are a much better match for you.
Too bad most guys will never throw a party since it requires effort
and dedicated social gaming...

RE: how often do you party? Does it sidetrack you?
How often do I party? Well it depends on my goals.
2 years ago my goal was to smash as much pussy as humanly possible.
What does that take in NYC?
Approaching multiple girls everyday, and going out 3-4 days a week. When I would go out I'd hit an area packed with young New Yorkers (East Village). While I was out, I'd approach every cute girl I see, and push every interaction as far as possible. If they don't want to come home, then I take a # and try to set up a date during the week.
What does that take in college?
Not as much as living in a city. Going out on Friday and Saturdays as well as hitting on a few girls everyday on campus was sufficient - would get me a new girl every week. In order to bring my bangs up from 10 per semester into the ~20 per semester range, I needed to not just go out on the weekends, but also enjoy 'Twisted Tuesdays' and 'Thirsty Thursdays' out on the town.
The cost.
I don't get insanely fucked up like most college kids and I don't drink (although I've done my fair share of dumb things). This helps a lot in the health department, but still, the #1 problem is fucking up your sleep schedule. When you're constantly going to bed at different hours and then sleeping in some days/waking up for early classes other days, you start fucking with your body's natural rhythm and this fucks your immune system. I got sick a lot, but when I maintain a normal sleep routine I'm generally much healthier.
The Solution
Go out as much as you need to for as long as you need to satiate your 'hunger for new notches.' I can guarantee you that after awhile you will stop caring so much about chasing tail and racking up bangs.
I'm only 22 and that phase of my life is for the most part over. I pretty much refuse to go out more than 2x a week because A) night venues usually aren't that much fun B) most venues I have access to lack good ratios and pulling takes a shitload of energy/persistence C) girls (even nice ones) love to act like total cunts in a club/nighttime setting.
I'd rather just daygame a few times a week. I'm good at daygame and I enjoy doing it.
Whenever I'm in a new city, putting in 1 to 2 weeks of solid (daily) daygame effort is enough to land me a at least 1 cute girls, and sometimes more.

Your list of cons mostly applies to how the average person parties.
There are ways to mitigate most of those things, though in the long run even good things should be done in moderation.
