Something tells me that the top dogs do hold investments for more than 6 years... in fact, they probably have mechanisms to ensure that they are never forced to sell in a panic.

100% that there are loopholes that the top dogs will get around. In fact, should she be able to push for that, it will be drafted in a way to minimize any real damage to the people it was meant to hit (Walstreet big shots) and maximize damage to anyone else (ie small business owners, middle-upper middle class people who work hard). The goal would be for maximal perception and minimal real effect. Would not be surprised if formal Goldman people would help her draft it.

This screws investment firms clients particularly funds who are buying and selling assets regularly i.e. hedge funds and day traders. Real rich people buy and hold forever generally speaking.

Seriously though 39% on cap gains held for more than 6 years is diabolical. That will fuck people in the ass that turn over real estate, timber, oil and gas rights, mineral rights. Capital gains is one of the few ways to make jumps up the 'wealth' ladder, bullshit like this doesn't tax those who have plenty of assets already, it just taxes those that are gaining/turning them over...think of it as a barrier to entry to keep any more people from joining the already wealthy.

On further reading it is some whacky sliding scale that 'promises to protect low income individuals'...so its going to let me charge people even more to prepare their taxes?

PS, you know what else falls into capital gains? Dividends. I guarantee they will fall into this bullshit sliding scale too.

Edit: On the plus side, I can't wait to see Trump rage on this one...and see if any of the cuckservatives mention it at all.

Next, they investigate the impact on entrepreneurship.

"Capital gains taxes reduce the return that entrepreneurs and investors receive from the sale of a business. This diminishes the reward for entrepreneurial risk-taking and reduces the number of entrepreneurs and the investors that support them. The result is lower levels of economic growth and job creation. …Analysing the stock of venture capital and tax rates on capital gains from 1972 to 1994, Gompers and Lerner found that a one percentage point increase in the rate of the capital gains tax was associated with a 3.8 percent reduction in venture capital funding."

...

And don’t forget that the United States compounds the damage with the world’s highest corporate tax rate, pervasive double taxation of dividends, and a punitive death tax.

So while some countries are doing the right thing and abolishing their capital gains taxes, the United States is languishing in the international contest for more investment.

The only “good news” is that a few other nations also impose foolish policies as well.

I think the superficiality of Americans when it comes to how they receive politicians may actually turn out to be a good thing this election. It doesn't matter what youth-restoring process she goes through, or what magic rabbit the plastic surgeons pull out of their hat. The technology doesn't exist.

She is absolutely hideous. She looks more disgusting than Jeb Bush's wife. Looking at her makes my skin crawl. I see something that only barely physical resembles a human being, and feel the sensation of insects crawling over my skin. I cringe away from her as I would from the rotting carcass of a deer decomposing in the sun. You can't overcome the sheer primal repulsion she inspires. Maybe a decade or so ago, if she'd won the first nomination. But no way now.

In a surprising twist - or completely expected for people with a brain - a lot of workers aren't getting off of welfare after all. Instead they're asking employers to cut their hours so they can make the same amount and keep their freebies. And we're told welfare isn't addictive!

Admittedly I don't know much about economics, but punishing taxes against selling investments sounds like a good way to force people to stay in the market during a recession and avoid problems like Greece had with everyone hiding their money under the bed once the government looked like it was going to start stealing from the people's bank accounts.

Like my buddy says, "poor people aren't dumb, they are just lazy"...this guy is also a pseudo slumlord and his single mother tennants will go and work at burger king for only a couple of weeks in a year to push them to the 'benefits sweet spot' where they max out EITC, foodstamps etc. Its right around $10k...and remember, child support does not get figured into those calculations. Let me provide you with an example:

Single Mother with 1 child earns the following income $500/month in Child Support aka $6k/year and works to earn $10k/year...both of those are tax free due to her income bracket. So she's starting off at $16/k no tax...to earn that $10k she only has to work for 6 months of the year at $8/hr.

She goes to file her taxes now, and she hits the sweet spot on EITC and gets $3305 in cash from the government for that tax credit. The Child tax credit nets her another $1000 for $4305. Our single mom is now up to $20305 in income all tax free and she only had to work for $10k.

How can one adult and a child survive on $20305? Easy, because there are more benefits. They are eligible for about $200/month in food stamps, again tax free...so now they are up to $22705. They can get subsidized housing...I heard of one chick that was paying $50/month rent for a townhome with 3 kids. $50 dollars per month... and subsidized daycare of about the same price. Medical expenses? FREE under medicare. A FREE phone via Obamaphones.

So on $22705 They'll have Annual Rent of (lets use $300 to be generous) $3600, groceries of $2400, Utilities of say $2400, and maybe a car payment of $2400, and lets say clothing budget of $1200. So...$12000 in expenses...and $10705 in cash left to blow on smokes, babysitters, booze, toys etc.

Lets throw down the $15 onto equation and now to hit that 'very livable' slacker sweetspot, this single mother now only needs to work....oh 3 months out of the year. 3 months!

Holy crap, I didn't even put in unemployment benefits of $2500.

So you can see why people wouldn't want to earn more at $15/hr just work less...you start to lose benefits when you get out of the "zone"

No wonder these chicks just keep fucking and popping out more kids. Work 3 months, get laid off, send your kids to school and just sit around watching daytime TV while trolling tinder for new dicks. The DREAM is real I tell you...and this is also why you never give up custody of your kids in a divorce.
