There's a few things you should do when deciding what to wear when you go out.

The first should be determine what type of venue it is and match the apparel with the venue.

In other words you shouldn't wear this


To a venue wear everyone else is wearing this


After you figure out what type of outfit fits the venue you should be the best and sharpest dressed there but not over due it.

If people are dressed like this


You should dress like this



Not entirely different but just enough more style to stand out

I'll bite since I'm bored.

This is what I usually wear at clubs. I don't want to be stylish. My goal in the states is to come across as an asshole who is here to fuck. I do well in this outfit. Last night I had a girl come up to me on the dance floor and ask if she could lick my stomach. It wouldn't of happened if I was wearing a blazer. it was a good night.

Different opinions, I tend to dress more formally. I haven't been to a club in ages, i tend to hit lounges or hotel bars where the crowd tends to be older (26+) and a dress code is expected.

OP we all have different styles.
Just be comfortable, know what looks good on you and know the venue.

I usually like to rock a suit since it gives me the feeling of satisfaction knowing that I'm one of the best dressed men in whichever club I go to.
The only downside is that I worry it might give off too much of a 'deliberately hunting for girls' vibe. To quote from another forum user whose name I can't remember, it doesn't hide my player power level.

Fitted V-neck w/ khaki shorts, chino shorts, jeans, or chinos. Sometimes a henley shirt or long-sleeved madras shirt with the sleeves rolled up. I'll even throw on a crew neck if it's a little lower cut in the neckline and showing a bit of skin.

I should probably get some more button-ups. I used to dress up a lot but now my wardrobe is dwindling. Living in Cambodia a couple years is bound to make myou more casual.

LINUX has the right approach, that's the way to do it in the US.

Not dressing nice/stylish, but dressing like an asshole.

Look at Linux's pic, with lats like that you need to show them.

Those of us with more of a 'soccer physique' look better in shirts and blazers. If you haven't got the guns the t-shirts won't do anything for you.

My going out clothes are a casualised version of what I wear to work. I have a seasonal rotation of tweed jackets for the winter and linen jackets for the summer. They're comfy fabrics that deal with temperature well.. Always make sure they fit properly. I would wear those with casual slim (not skinny) fit trousers in moleskin, corduroy or linen depending on season. I have a couple pairs of smart boots that I usually wear.

Different marketing for a different product. I'm not believable as a douchebag.

Remember, there are three main styles for men: rugged, refined, and rakish. You can combine two of them together. LINUX's look appears to mix rugged and rakish. You choose the look that fits your personality, physique (as Surreyman points out), and the situation, then go full bore with it.

So, if you hang out at upscale cocktail bars where a refined look is more appropriate, and that look fits your personality, then make yourself stand out by, as Realologist suggests, taking it a little further. Wear a suit that fits you perfectly, with well-matched patterns to provide more depth (patterned shirt with an unpatterned suit, for example), perhaps some additional layering like a vest or sweater, a colorful pocket square, sleek shoes, patterned socks, and some tasteful accessories like a watch or ring. Or mix in a little ruggedness with it by wearing boots or wide belt, or rakishness by wearing one thing that has a startling contrast, like an odd-colored vest, a double-breasted or lapeled vest, a scarf (or feather boa and goggles, you player), bright-colored shoes, or a large belt buckle.

My grandfather would laugh in your face if you asked about an "outfit", but I guess the times are changing.

I go for the Henley or button up look, but my game is about the cut and material. I appeal to their sense of touch. JC Penney doesn't have the same effect as Mizzen and Main.

Stafford fitted long sleeve shirt. (JC Penny 24.99)

Black or beige Merona dress shorts. (Target 24.99)

Express boxer briefs.

Sperry's topsiders.

I wear variations of this basically every day when not at work. It looks preppy, though kind of basic, but it's comfortable as fuck and is super easy to stack on an additional blazer if needed
