One thing I have never figured out; what is the optimal balance of quantity and quality of approaching? I find myself being more choosy in which 'marks' to approach, but it reached the point where I was not approaching very many at all because none qualified as ones I thought would like me or were hot enough to justify the effort.

I seem to vary between just approaching the "DC 5s" out of lack of options but then later otherwise passing on them.

Ah believe me that you're not the first one to ponder on this! The way I see it is that it all depends on how horny you are at the moment! When you're getting fed nicely you're way pickier during a Daygame session and when you're not is seems that you just want to approach anything that is passable. And I'm located in TO, so it's a comparable city that's known as the worst alongside DC. Just go with the flow on this and throw out the requirements for approach for the moment.

As a fellow newbie, I approach any girl that passes the boner test. I will continue to do so until I get my first bang and some regulars. Until then i'm approaching as much as I can.

Rule of thumb- don't bang girls who will keep other girls from trying to bang you. Dip your toe publicly into a pool of 5s and watch every 8 interested in you fall off

From what you write and how you do it I get the impression that you view the act of approaching as big move, almost like an event that has to be calculated well thought out. To me approaching itself is meaningless. It's so unimportant. You can tell a girl "hey you dropped your xyz" is that an approach? Probably yes. But so what?

Don't stress out about quality or quantity. You know what? Cold approach is totally random. It's a lottery. You have no idea what you get yourself into when you break the ice with a stranger girl. You can approach countless girls and come empty handed or chat up only 2 girls and one of them will be into you.

I don't think I either am or seem to be "stressing" out an approach or thinking it is a big move; that is jumping to conclusion a bit; I think I have a legitimate, objective concern about strategy, whether to use a shotgun or sniper rifle.

It may be impossible to know what will happen in the approach, but time and energy is limited in the real world. I've approached mediocre quality only to bail from the set and then see a better target that I missed.
