Apple and Adobe sparked some unintended controversy yesterday after unveiling and demonstrating the new iPad Pro. Adobe mobile design director, Eric Snowden, took to the stage and showed off a new app called Adobe Fix, which offers powerful face detection features for mobile photo retouching. This is the mobile Photoshop app that was previously referred to as Project Rigel.

As an example of the app’s powers, Snowden showed how the app can easily turn a woman’s neutral expression into a smile. The demo drew some chuckles from the audience, but journalists and commentators immediately turned to social media to condemn the demo as sexist.

“I’m not quite happy with the model’s smile,” Snowden said, after opening up the portrait in a page mockup. “I wish she had just a little bit more of a smile. I think it’d warm up the design quite a bit.”

Snowden then loads the photo into Photoshop Fix, selects the lips, and drags a slider to instantly give the woman a smile. You can see the demo at about 38.5 minutes in the Apple event replay. Here’s a short clip of the exact moment:

“The move is being called ‘tone-deaf’ and unfortunate, given the tech industry has been in the firing line lately for its lack of diversity,” writes the New York Times. Mashable adds: “Apple, let’s not force women to smile at your Keynote event.”

Next, before the journalists even had a chance to send out the angry tweets they were preparing, use the software to turn a black woman white.

"My my, doesn't that just make the room warmer? Here, let's make her white."

Finally they should turn a picture of Obama into one of Donald Trump. Probably half the audience would die of brain hemorrhages on the spot, but the software would sell like hot cakes - its capability would be undeniable.

If I was CEO of apple, I'd run a campaign called "Sad Sluts" where every day for the next 6 months smiles would be added to photographs of media feminists until they shut the fuck up.

Not the best idea for business, you say? Bullshit. Apple is a company they wouldn't dream of boycotting, even if it turned out Syrian refugees were being ground into the paste they use to keep the CPUs from overheating. They are literally incapable of not buying Apple products. It is a biological need for them at this point. They might talk about never buying an iPhone again unless they get an apology, but I guarantee the second the iPhone 7 comes out they'd be rushing to the shops and all would be forgotten. Apple can do whatever the fuck it wants.

The funny thing about feminists vitriol about smiling is that smiling actually elevates your mood no matter what mood you're in. Even if you feel like shit, faking a smile improves your mood.

At least pretending to smile is exactly what these eternally pissed off uptight harpies need, might help them actually be cheerful and nice and maybe get attention from the men they secretly desire.
