Asian Proverbs
Hey guys,

I'm reading "Journey to the West", considered one of the four great novels of chinese classical literature. It's 1,400+ pages of chinese fiction so although I find it enjoyable I wouldn't recommend it unless you already have an interest in chinese culture and about 50 hours to spare. I'll do a book review when I'm finished. While reading I decided to some research on chinese proverbs. These are the ones I found interesting, thought provoking and amusing. Enjoy!

3. A house without a child is like a tomb.
6. A woman talks to one man, looks at another, and thinks about a third.

34. I bought the nettle, sowed the nettle, and then the nettle stung me.

61. Our shadow will follow us

68. Sorrow for the death of a father lasts six months; sorrow for a mother, a year;

72. The beggar who asks for crumbs gets more than the one who asks for bread.

RE: Asian Proverbs
Not exactly proverbs, but a couple of memorable quotes from the Good Earth (story of the rise of a Chinese peasant to a rich landowner)

"I shall never sell the land! Bit by bit, I will dig up the fields and feed the earth itself to the children and when they die I will bury them in the land, and I and my wife and my old father, even he, we will die on the land that has given us birth." Chapter 9, pg. 61

"When the rich are too rich there are ways, and when the poor are too poor there are ways...and that way will come soon." Chapter 13, pg. 84

"Now evil, idle son-sell the land! It is the end of a family-when they begin to sell the land. Out of the land we came and into it we must go-if you will hold your land you can live-no one can rob you of land-if you sell the land, it is the end." Chapter 34, pg. 260

On a lighter note:

This is excellent and should always be cited to female "child free by choice" freaks. I think it would hit some of them hard because they would feel it to be true.

When i read on my phone, I zoom in to make the text bigger, so I can't see who posts, unless I slide the screen over to look.
Still, I knew this was LOZ within a couple of words.
