How effective is it? Staying true to the passion and playing for the love of music is the primary objective here, but what about your experiences with it? Which instruments are best to play? I've heard that it works on women under 26, but that's just a rumor. Obviously, major rockstars don't have a limited shelf-life.

Until you have a hired crew, just know that breaking down the bandstand and loading up double-parked cars outside the service exit of the venue tends to happen right when post-gig social plans and connections are being made. Plus who is sticking around to make sure YOU get paid at the end of the night by a surly bar manager who speaks a different math than you?

If you have "hand in the band" (heh) and it's tacitly accepted that you can roll out and do your own thing right off the stage, then sure, leverage it. Make laser eye contact with girls all night before, during, and after the show.

Easy openers abound, ala "Hey did the band sound balanced to you? I was way too loud!" -- this is great because she'll qualify her "music fan cred" trying to answer, like sneaking in that she knows what a snare drum is or "background vocals".

Can you be more specific with your question? As far as "whats the best instrument to play"....which instrument are you best at? Play that.

It's effective, as long as you present yourself. Nobody cares about the kid shredding his guitar in his bedroom.

If you don't care what instrument, choose the most in-demand instrument. You can check this by browsing "musicians wanted" and "bands wanted" classifieds. If the "band wanted" section is full of guitarists, and the "musicians wanted" section is full of vocalists and drummers -- you have your signal.

The reason for this is that, if you want to convert playing music to sex, you have to be in front of audiences, as big as possible, as often as possible. This means getting into a band that will get gigs. There is a strong social aspect to this, and the better you can play, the better chance you'll have of getting into a band that gets audience time. But if your instrument is in demand (maybe because it's more unwieldy and expensive, or just less popular), you don't have to be as good as otherwise -- simple supply and demand.

I play (and write) music for my own enjoyment, first and foremost.

It's one of the purest forms of creative/cathartic release. Sometimes it feels like I'm a conduit, rather than an active participant - this is where the magic happens.

If music had zero emotional sway/influence with women and therefore didn't factor in a "game" sense, I'd still enjoy it equally.

It doesn't matter what instrument you play, it's your authenticity and ability to convey genuine emotion through your playing that makes panties drop.

Having said that, don't let the prospect of pussy be the reason why you take up an instrument.

I totally agree. I started playing drums at 10 years of age but have been wondering about the experience of playing guitar or violin on a more adept, deep level. Both I find to be very soulful if played right and not by green day.

It sounds like you've played on stage before. If you have, if like to speak more in depth of your experiences, since some day I'd like to get on stage, myself.

Also, which genres do you have experience in, if any? I have a few in mind but want to whittle my options to the most effective one(s).

Playing in a band alone isn't going to get you laid unless you are at least one of the following:
a) really really good
b) play a niche genre (psychedelic for hippie chicks, metal for emo's, etc etc)

What it CAN be... is a good way of meeting cool chicks with similar interests. There will be the odd chick who wants to fuck you because you're in a band. These are outliers however (unless again who have a good level of fame) and would most likely fuck you without you being a musician. Most of my friends are musicians and I get handballed the odd slut at gigs without being remotely talented musically.

TL;DR - play music because you enjoy it. Being a musician alone isn't going to get you laid

True. It's also because EDM has practically become a religion (at least here on the west coast). It's sad really. EDM is pure garbage and so is the rave "culture" that comes with it. I've already ranted about this in other threads so I'll spare the details.

I strongly disagree with this, particularly the first point. Being "really really good" is actually more of a hindrance if pussy is your goal. Terrible bands get laid a lot, trust me.

It's not about "being good" or "playing in a niche genre". It's simply about looking the part. This is consistent with the game concept of congruence. If you tell a girl you're in a band and her response is anything other than "Of course you are" then you're doing it wrong, if pussy is the goal. I don't mean you have to go full Nikki Sixx or anything, but you should look like a guy who's in a band.

Agreed, I play because I am driven to do so, not because of it's fringe benefits. Being anything isn't going to get you laid, unless you can parlay it into pussy, so I don't see your point here. Game is always necessary, it's just applied somewhat differently here. For example, the #1 thing a band can do to amplify their pussy intake is good stage presence. That truly is all you need, Skill is much, much further down the list.

I've been playing in bands for 11 years and I been thinking about this recently.

One thing I've noticed is that most musicians are complete betas and are terrible with women. This is probably why you get all the "It's not that easy" responses.

Although, yes when the gigs finished, everyone is having a good time for about half an hour before they all go if you're lucky. And in that time you're normally taking your gear down.

I think the best way to do it, would be to have band members that are also good looking, and possibly have game. Women in the band would also look good. Already that is quite a challenge, most musicians are so timid, even if they put on a big rockstar persona.

Then you need to mingle with the crowd as much as possible, on breaks especially. It's easy to go up to a group of girls if you are in the band, you could just open with "hey..". I would also immediately ditch packing down your instruments after the gig, to grab a beer and chat to people. This is the best time, when you're in everybody's mind. If you have some sort of backstage area, cool van, or party afterwards that's even better. You can talk to people for 15 minutes after you've finished and if they're cool, invite them back, if they resist, offer them drugs. I can't see how this wouldn't work.

You might piss off the venue or your band, taking so long to pack your instruments down, but normally the venue takes a lot longer to close anyway, and your band members just like to complain for no reason anyway. Fuck em, banging girls is more important anyway.

Ideally you should stand with a huge masculine presence, centre stage and be the frontman. You should also all look good on stage. I think the singing and music should also be dripping with sexuality and passion. Singing about politics or joke songs isn't going to have the same effect. Add in confidence and game and you will stand out so much more than your average musician, and could have your pick of the girls in the venue that night

Being one of the musicians on the side is ok, but you will have to make up for that by being talkative and outgoing around the venue. If you're the frontman people will notice you and defer to you as you are a leader. If you're the drummer, people might not even be able to see you properly on stage and recognise you.

Also, you should be playing cool, sexy modern music. Metal is full of dudes, rock will just get you average hipster girls, and classical and jazz will just get you old people.

Nah, unless you're a bass playing front man, you're just one of the side musicians. You can get women as a bass player but you'll have to stand out in the band with game or some other way.

I agree that you should have passion for music if you are going to be playing it, but damn if it isn't an easy way to get pussy. Some of the most memorable pickups I had early in college were from music. There is nothing quite like scanning crowds and seeing girls eyes laser focused on you. One of the most divine things I have experienced.

That's just one aspect of it. There were other times where I would roll solo to open mic nights and small gigs and pickup girls from who were playing. Back then I could play the part pretty well.

Different story now. I'd be lying though if I said it wasn't easier to write songs when I was worse with women. This might just be a personal problem but ever since I got really good with women my ability to write songs went down the drain. Maybe it's because I'm not the brazen idealist I once was.

Most songs are full of blue pill, idealistic romantic lyrics, it's terrible. When I listen to the radio, I try and imagine the whiny male voice singing a love song is a girl so it makes more sense to me. I think there's so much to write about now that I'm not as idealistic, and it's more original and interesting as well. I'm not a lyricist but I've been thinking about it a lot recently. Why don't you try that?

It's true. There's plenty of garbage EDM. There's plenty of garbage of every dodgy musical genre there is. 90% of everything is garbage (except maybe classical prior to 1900.)

I much prefer electronic music these days over the more rock-oriented genres I listened to when I was younger. I've been a guitarist for the better part of 20 years, and it's undeniable to me that guitar-oriented rock music has badly stagnated in the past decade. There's tons of "EDM" coming out all the time that I enjoy, but I find much of modern rock music unlistenable.

Ever hear of a progressive nerd-rock band called Rush that's been around for about 40 years? They basically made a career out of it. And everyone (particularly the music press) hated them for not singing songs about how they lurveee girls and they could snort lines to. Also for not having a sexy lead singer. Unforgivable.

You can sometimes get away with "deep" lyrics in rap, but even Kanye West gets blasted for doing this.

As I said I meant the "culture" of raves is what I don't like. PLUR, K, E, and all that horseshit. Drum and Bass is alright. I'm not 100 percent opposed to all electronic music, for example I like Boards of Canada, Aphex twin, infected mushroom, I know those all kinda old, I haven't exactly kept up with the genre minus the raves I've been to (which I can count on one hand).
