There is a LOT of shitty music I really hate, and the thought occurred to me to start a cathartic thread. Think of this as a music graveyard, a place where you'd like to wish death upon certain songs and lay them to rest, only to take a long steaming piss on the tombstone.

Many of these are songs I hear every day in Vegas. Lots of cheesy bullshit techno from Calvin Harris and Avicii. Some are shitty angst rock from Southern California in the 90s and early 2000s. But all of them are songs that inspire anger in me every time I hear them:

This is absolutely #1. I can't explain what it is about this song that drives me absolutely insane with rage. The ridiculous, smarmy lyrics, the timbre, autotune, the drum machine....the shitty folky sound...seriously, fuck this song:





This guy's voice sucks. This is what low testosterone sounds like:

I have a gut-wrenching reaction to angst rock from the 2000s. Something about this signaled the end of masculine music to me and ushered in a new age of emo, whiny, effeminate crap:









Who can listen to this?:















I can't imagine anything shittier than going through high school and having this music shape and define your teenage years. Thank god I dodged that bullet by about 10 years.

What's funny is looking at the youtube comments, all the twerps chiming in with, "Man I loved this is high school, this is when music was good before Bieber"

Basically, post-2000 hip-hop is shit. Why?

- Production became a bigger deal than the emcee. The bass mattered more than lyricism and vocal skill. The same "hip-hop heads" who drop $300 on Dr. Dre headphones don't know who Rakim is. Modern day rappers need to whip out their iPhones to freestyle.

- Commercialization. a.k.a. Taking $ from young, white girls. Even LP-era Eminem was "too hard" for them to buy. So you get bubbly Bazooka levels of faggotry, like this:





- Loss of lyrical meaning. Although dudes like Biggie, Raekwon and Kane also did it, Jay Z brought Mafioso rap worldwide. So instead of true social justice, Afrocentric or other abstract themes that were common in the Golden Age, Jay's Mafioso rap made everything about cars, clothes and hoes.

Golden Age rappers like Kane were so good they could rap forever ... about their rap:




- Every modern rapper has a crew. Golden Age emcees put out high-quality, solo albums once every 3 years or so. Now, every rapper and his boys throw out an album annually, and each track features 3 or 4 of his boys who'll spit one bar each. Like a clique of drunk bitches recording a Snapchat.

I'm generally a pretty level-headed person but for some reason whenever I hear this song I get irrationally pissed off to the point of rage. I *HATE* this fucking song. There was a two-year period where it was constantly on the radio and I couldn't escape it at the gym, at random restaurants, shit....I even remember hearing it in the waiting room at the dentist that first year. It's basically four minutes of a pathetic loser being a whiny bitch over and over and over again. Enjoyed the posts in the thread so far and just had to add this one for my $0.02.

Reg. Blurred Lines (Robin Thicke) - at least over here in Europe they started calling it the 'song of the summer' last year. I fucking hated this song the very first time I heard it.

Gyms are my particular pet peeve - I think I need to post a separate thread about how feminized and shitty pop music has become. Seems to me that in particular gyms only play the type of crap WOMEN want to hear - you will never hear metal, good rap, or hardcore trance. None of the bros seem to enjoy the music and most are wearing headphones. It's just noise to me so I use ear insulating headphones so I don't have to destroy my eardrums trying to overpower the crap they are funneling into my cerebral cortex.

Yeah, don't get me started on this shit - I'm very receptive to music and this shit they are playing everywhere pisses me off to no end.
