Farousha declined to name those killed. But officials in Dubai, who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity identified those killed as Canadian boxer Cody Nixon, 24, and his cousin, James Portuondo, 27. Boston bombing survivor Victoria McGrath and her Northeastern University roommate Priscilla Perez Torres were also identified as victims of the crash.

The crash early Sunday morning near Dubai’s Jumeirah Lake Towers neighbourhood saw the yellow, two-seat Ferrari 458 Spider jump a curb and slam into a pole, splitting the sports car in half. Only 10 minutes earlier, surveillance footage at a nearby hotel caught those involved in the crash hopping into the Ferrari, with the two American women sitting in the passenger seat, the Canadian boxer sitting in the middle and the other man driving, Bu Farousha said.

“From my initial investigation, they had lost control of the car,” the prosecutor told the AP. “The road is curved. They were driving at a high speed in a 40-km/h zone. The speed did not match at all the speed limit.”

Bu Farousha declined to say how fast he believed the car was travelling, though he said investigators were examining a monitor installed in the car to make a final determination.

The prosecutor said all those involved had been drinking. While alcohol is freely served in hotels throughout Dubai, a tourist attraction home to the world’s tallest building and luxury malls, driving after consuming any alcohol is illegal.

The Motor City Boxing Club in Oshawa, Ont., posted a tribute to Nixon on its Facebook page on Monday, saying he had died “while vacationing overseas.”
A photo posted on the Instagram account travelwithcody showed a man posing with a yellow Ferrari and the caption reads: “Just landed into Dubai picked up the Ferrari! Don’t worry I won’t speed .”

The lesson seems to be don't go overseas, get drunk with random guys (it's unclear, but there doesn't seem to be a prior connection between the girls and the two guys they were with), and then cram four people into a Ferrari built for two and go for a drive.

Really, just avoid that last part and things will probably be okay.

Sounds like the boxer and his wingman gamed the women at the hotel and decided to venue change or head to their place to bang.

Only lesson I see here is weambulance's, don't drink and drive, and don't make stupid decisions like that.

Granted I've made some dumbass decisions driving drunk when I turned 21, fortunately no DUI's, accidents, or anyone harmed.

I had a look at the guys IG. Seems like a cool character who would be right at home here - skydiving, partying in Mexico, hitting the beach.

Just a couple of kids who rented a Ferrari and were running some game on two girls.

Threads like this really piss me off. Guy was cool, girl was fit and friendly. This could have been any of us. I don't see any lesson here other than don't drink and drive.

I think the attempt is to make a subtle link to the Dubai girls, and to be honest, I can see that. To be honest, she was probably there on a sponsored trip.

I'm not sure how you squeeze 4 adults into a 2-seat Ferrari. I bet they probably turned off the traction control to do some burnouts to impress the girls. On most of these mid-engine exotics this is a recipe for trouble.

Oh I get that, but I'm just getting this impression a lot of girls are going there these days like it's the new "hot spot" for crazy/fun/exciting international travel. Keeping in mind I've never been to Dubai...I would guess that there's a sizable amount of people that travel to Dubai because of the buzz, glitz, and glamour. Girls see the towers and lights and promise of sunshine and shopping and to them, that's enough. It's the next shiny new place to cross off their bucket list.

It's like Vegas. Yes, there are plenty of party sluts that come here, and that fits the stereotype. But there's plenty of people that are here for conventions, for work, for bachelorette parties. Not every female that comes here is a raging party slut.

And so I would assume about Dubai. Not every white female in Dubai is a port-a-pottie, I'm sure.

Threads like these suck, just a reaffirmation that there are indeed a lot of angry ass, bitter ass dudes out there that rejoice at any amount of pain inflicted on women. We don't need that shit around here.

Was she a Hoe... maybe... but virtually all cute & rich girls are Hoes in our culture... so where's the saltiness coming from you guys! She didn't deserve to die of course, but saying she's not at fault is just crazy.

Getting into any car with a drunk driver is idiotic enough. It's worse that it was a 570 HP ass-heavy RWD sports car with handling characteristics most Westerners aren't used to (not that she probably understood the difference). It's not like it was a semi-sleeper luxury sedan that happened to have 500 RWHP, either; a Ferrari 458 is very obviously a high performance sports car. And cramming four people into a two seater means they were ignoring all the clear signs that it was a terrible idea. That doesn't change whether the guys were her best friends since childhood or she met them five minutes earlier.

It sucks that this happened to these kids, but it's another facet of natural selection. If your internal risk meter is poorly calibrated, you're more likely to die without reproducing because you did something stupid. This was just the modern version of caveman Ogg poking a hibernating bear with a stick.

This girl could have been in Dubai for a million reasons. Getting pooped on by oil sheiks was most likely not the reason.

I've been to Dubai, nobody pooped on me. No one stuck any salmon in my ass.

There are some mega rich people there that will pay celebrities or other persons of interest to just show up and hang out. They'll cover insanely expensive travel as well. A very close friend of mine is a top-of-the-food-chain surfer. Some rich guy flew him to Dubai just to hang out in a bar and pose for some Instagram pictures with his son.

When you've got that much money, why not?

Always jumping to the worst conclusion simply because a female is involved is uncalled for, especially in this case.

Doubt she went to Dubai to get shit on by rich Arabs. She was there like most other westerners are, partying, sex and letting loose in a country which makes it illegal to even show a bit of life.

Her only mistake was getting in a supercar with some drunk idiot. A normal car with a drunkard at the wheel is a wrecking bomb waiting to happen so god knows what a super car is like.

I hope she had happiness after the incident, women partying with well off, good looking guys in Dubai isn't a rarity.
