I thought I would share a little anecdote from a few weeks ago. Nothing special nothing groundbreaking… Just a string of events with a few lessons learnt.

The story starts with Rush, the lone survivor of an inner city concert commuting home on the late train. It’s 12:00am; I’m texting anyone and everyone. The night is over but I’m ready to game. The train is a battlefield. A sea of drunken 20 somethings and a man who is fast approaching 30.

12:01 strikes. 30 seconds until a fresh crop of Tinder swipes. I’m a little drunk and short on patience. I swipe right… 12 matches. Only Christmas Hams. I sink back into my seat and accept that the night is over.Last stop. My stop. I walk to the doors as the train pulls into the station. As the doors open I spot two girls to my left. A gift from God. A six and a solid eight.

My game isn’t tight. In fact it’s probably poor but I'm persistent. He who hesitates masturbates. Thanks Dad. I’m following the Roosh V no FAP so porn is off the table. I smile. They whisper. What’s your name? What’s your story? They’re 25. Both Canadian. Working Visas. Haven’t partied in months and want to dance. I look to the sky and say thank you.

The doors open and they ask me where is good. It’s Sydney. No where’s good. I say I’ll be their guide for the night. We go to a Kings Cross nightclub. It’s the usual suspects. I’m not drunk enough to miss the cellulite… The guys are still impressive. Idle chitchat. I’m too old for this shit. Luckily lighting strikes twice. The promoter just so happens to be an old school friend. We skip the line and get in free. The music is terrible. A melodic drone of one-syllable words.

The hot girl goes to the bar to buy our drinks. I’m left with the six. She goes straight for the hook-up. I pull back. I don’t want to blow the eight.
More conversation and an endless stream of men approaching the hot one. Hi babe do you come here often? Each time swatted away with a wink.

Thirty minutes deep and I reposition. I’m with the eight now. Things start to escalate when disaster strikes. The Greek God of Olympus appears... Taller, more tan, more muscular, better style. Rush 2.0. Rush 6.0…

It’s been a long night. My energy is low. My attitude sinks. It shouldn’t but it does. I pray for the 15th variation of 'can I buy you a drink' but instead he says… Can I borrow a light. They hand one over. He takes a seat. I feel like I’m the oldest one here he says. No way they say. Finally I can have a mature conversation. The girls swoon. Well done my friend…

Suddenly the plot twist…

He kisses the six. I double take. It’s happening. He who hesitates masturbates. I take the eight. We start to kiss. The club is closing… The Greek God of Olympus attempts to take the six home. Unacceptable says the eight. The mother hen has spoken. I think she really wants to go I say… Trust me, she doesn’t says the 8.

The God is racked jacked. Denied. He walks home with his tail between his legs. Once he leaves the eight stops kissing. She wanted him all along. The tale of the underachiever. He could have had the best pussy in the club but he lost by under cutting his value.

I could have had some pussy but I lost by shooting higher. I can deal with that, but it’s a fickle game. I grabbed the first cab I could find. A tinder match had spoken... A five… That's generous. Crooked teeth. Decent body. The driver asked me where I’m going. I said I’ll let you know.

Good story. I've been in that exact situation many a night. Do you go for the 6 thats the sure thing for sex, or chance it with the harder-work no guarantee 8? When I was younger I always went for the sure thing, as I get older though I've learnt some patience and usually go for the 8. I can't say if thats down to having more self-respect, having decided I've had sex with enough 6s in my lifetime, or just generally being less drunk on nights out on average. Either way its probably a good thing.

I think you did the right think. Always aim for the best girl unless you were really desperate for sex then you go for the sure thing.

Don't see other men as better men than you. I am 5ft6 but every time I am out, I always believe I am the best guy in the night, even if I am being somewhat delusional, I tell you what, it works.

To be perfectly honest, I don't plan sets. I more or less run off instinct. Almost ten years ago now I ran down the rabbit hole of game, but things change and life gets busy.

I still have a few tricks up my sleeve but it's hit and miss. If I was to say instinctually where I typically go with a two set, it's to focus and converse with the less attractive girl and keep eye contact with the other. Then just isolate and escalate.

Their dynamic was flirtatious. I'm sure many a man has been beaten by the two pair, and theres a few text book messages in the anecdote for people who don't want to make the same mistakes.

Your de facto wingman took care of that issue, but you lost both when your game wasn't more captivating than his looks.

In that situation, the manual suggests that you lower his value in her/target's eyes, or raise your own relative to his..without alienating the dude.

Basically she has to choose your personality over his looks. That's the essence of game, but most of the time you don't deal with it in the same set.

The other angle would be to point out that the obstacle and the other guy are hooking up and that you and target should give them some privacy. You need a plausible reason to give them space, but to get some isolation with the target.

Once she's not so close to pretty bit, it's jujitsu time. You have to spark something that takes her out of "he's so dreamy mode", basically an emotional state change.

She's into him
Get her out of that head space
Then get her into you

Otherwise this was a great 99% pull. I think going in without a plan to handle the two of them left open this opportunity for the other guy.

To prevent this situation you'd need to get both of them to leave with you. You already saw that the hot one was relentlessly approached. So it's not like you weren't on notice.

The other issue was sending the target to get the drinks. Maybe she was actually leaving the two of you alone because the less cute friend needed some dick. But you wanted the target. Target was cool with it, until pretty boy showed his face and ruined the whole thing for her. The fact that you were in *his* spot is what made the whole thing fall apart.

Had you been like " this place is lame" ,or "let's go for a smoke" maybe you could have gotten closer to the real goal.

A. From experience the overwhelming take away is that girls more often than not, will become needlessly selfish. I think you answer the question yourself. If my game was more captivating that his looks the girls would have sorted it out and we both would have left with pussy. It wasn't and everyone lost.

How do I usually handle the 'other guy'? My style is generally the opposite of the 'devaluation'. I usually build them up to a level that seems a little too good to fulfil. It's a little more hit than miss, but not without it's flaws.

I think you should've tried to bounce the girls away from a Kings Cross nightclub where there are tons of competition. In fact I wouldn't have brought them there in the first place. Keep a list of hipster venues handy in your head, those are fun for girls to go to, and there will not likely be a "Greek God" around to ruin your fun.

But I agree with always going for the hotter girl. Had you gone for the less attractive one:

1. You didn't get laid: you'll feel worse about yourself, for getting rejected by an average chick
2. You got laid: you'd be wondering if you could've got the hotter one too with more balls. That kind of regret sucks.

The night I met my girlfriend who's an 8, I was actually on a date with a six sure-thing, who's really into me. I was also on a bit of a dry spell, but once I noticed a little bit of interest from the eight, the phrase "younger hotter tighter" popped in my head and I dropped the six to take my chance.

I've done the same thing in the past, and usually I'd lose both, but sometimes I'd win big. Every time it makes me more confident about myself, and I need all of that for 5'7" me to go up against the so-called Greek Gods of Olympus in this country.

Agreed. I think this just might be my first thread in two years in the game section. Mine isn't tight, but hopefully there is a few takeaways for some of the newer members out there.

Oh, and for anyone heading to Sydney… Listen to this man. Do not go to Kings Cross lol. It's personified. With lockout laws your options are limited but Newtown is probably your best bet. The crowd are A-Sexual and the competition is non-existent.

I don't know about you guys, but when I go for what I wanted and I get rejected....I feel awesome.

I go home, crack a beer and celebrate.

Sure, I'm going to learn from the experience so that next time I can get what I wanted.

But in the meantime, I feel awesome, because I truly gave it my best shot and that's the biggest challenge of all.

I get rejected and disrespected by average girls way more often than I do by models and top quality girls (see my many Mexico posts). Why should anyone feel worse about himself for getting rejected by average girls?

I get that logic, especially when you're fresh into game. I remember years ago getting rejected over and over again by absolute rubbish and my logic was: "If I'm being rejected by a 5, why even bother with a nine?"

I think for most men it's a fairly linear, fairly rational thought process. It's wrong, but I guess every guy has to learn that for himself.
