Respect for staying true to yourself, bro. I can tell that you're a neat dude to hang out with. I'm sure people will warm up you as your quirks grow on them.

People usually lurk for a relatively long time to get a feel of the forum, a rough hang of the community before actively participating. Newbies are also usually a bit reversed, for reasons we all know too well. You're an exception, partly because of your personality, and partly because you come to this forum through interaction with Roosh. You're already on familiar term with highest forum authority, and because of this you have little reservation and just banged into the forum. This is all fine and dandy, though it can rub some people not in the know in the wrong way, or at best strike them as odd.

It'll be fine. Dudes will chill out, as they should.

p/s: I'm just a forum-goer, a community resident, and all-around weirdo, not a follower. My interest is self-improvement, philosophy, and understanding stuff in general. My passion is the dispassionate search for truth. As you can tell I'm not a normal human being either. I've a feeling we will get along well.

Not picking on OP here, but his vivacious and verbose verbiage (SMcM respect) reminds of when you meet people who have a manner of speech and demeanor that seems super contrived and fake - almost like they are acting and its transparent as fuck. They even put on a sort of fake accent to really chum up the pseudo-intellectual faux-cool attitude.

I get that some people like to come across a certain way, but it's just cringe worthy how some folks just put on a painfully obvious dramatic act. Like you're not David Blaine or William Shatner; just be real.

Makes me curious how people on the forum are in real life versus in person.

I feel pretty confident that I convey myself accurately on here. In real life I'm an honest and brash dude who swears a lot and tends to over-share, which I s'pose can be a virtue and a curse or whatever. I'm not a quiet or shy, and I'm comfortable with my own humility.

Anyway, welcome to the forum comrade. A friend of Roosh is a friend of us. There's a bucket of ice in the corner for you to dip your balls in after they're done getting busted.

^I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt, though. Since he's an unabashed geek, it's possible that he has been around some (online) geek communities. Geeks develop their own culture and have peculiar ways of communicating with one another, with their own dynamics and chemistry. It's possible that such a way of talking can come off as natural on one community and contrived to other. I'm not a geek, so I don't know. I didn't hate it though, and having been in different communities myself, I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt.

Not making the best first impression is only expected since he banged into the forum without having lurked, being unfamiliar with the community's favored manner and culture. But I'm positive that if he's truly interested he'll over time find a way to fit in while retaining his idiosyncrasy.

But then the convergence of the root "Nam" where it means both Naming and Honoring would appear to go back a long way. It also suggests that a Name is something much more important then how we think of it. Such an idea would be lost on us, as most of us have names that are unrelated to our lives and in languages we dont understand.

Another interesting connection I know of is between the English "Daughter" and Sanskrit "Duhitar". Both mean the same thing except the Sanskrit Duhitar actually literally translates "Milk-Maid". The English one does'nt break down. The idea being that some earlier peoples referred to their daughters as Milk-Maids (sort of pet name) and this stuck.

The correlation between Name and Namaste is much more interesting and possibly gives us a glimpse into the daily culture of some people living in prehistoric times.

Anyway, I guess this answers the question of what I am interested in.

In Persian, "Dokhtar" is connected to "Daughter". "Dokhtar" colloquially means "girl", not sure if that was the case in the past.

Well since we're connecting the dots here, Dokhtar is also similar to Daughter (English), Tochter (German), Dochter (Dutch).

Well, shoot, I was going to try to put this thread out of its misery, but I don't see an option to do that.

Story time.

I went to go see a movie with a college chum. We were having difficulty finding seats. We thought we found some, but they turned out to be taken.

I thought I saw one in the next row up, so I politely walked around. But my friend was feeling rambunctous and wanted to show me how it's done, so he hopped over the seat.

He wasn't paying attention, and landed squarely into the lap of the German girl who was already occupying the seat.

She was slightly winded and annoyed but remarkably good-natured about it. Didn't scream at him or call the usher, just scowled a little. And then he turned on the old Persian charm. Got out of her lap and chatted her up.

Later at his home I reported the incident to his parents. They didn't speak English and were both fairly deaf.

I said "Behrad Dokhtar-e almani DOOST!" (Behrad likes German girls)

Well, I don't think he was allowed to have a girlfriend without permission, and maybe even he was supposed to wait until a marriage was arranged (he eventually ended up with a hot-looking wife from Shiraz). His mom couldn't make out what I had just said, so Behrad shouted at her

He said "Behrad Doktar-e almani doost." (Behrad likes German doctors) His mother might have been slightly puzzled by this claim.

But his dad had a sly grin on his face. He heard me right the first time.
