Pickup lines are openers. There is no single line you can say to a chick and consider her "picked up". Plenty of lines if used correctly on the right girl could demonstrate confidence, make her laugh, surprise her, set you apart from the last 10 guys who walked up and asked if they could buy her a drink, so on. Pretty sure there are (real) Youtube vids of guys doing just this.

Realistically, any chick you stop on the street with "Excuse me, you are gorgeous and I had to stop you and say hi" is going to know in the back of her mind that you've done this before, at least if you're any good at it, and guys get laid with this and other canned lines all the time.

Best option - instead of asking, go out and try a few and then post up your results.

It's actually quite interesting.

I've had most of my more successful interactions after using a pickup line OR approaching more like a youtube prankster as apposed to a 'PUA'.

I kind of wish this wasn't the case, though. I hate having to rely on weird stuff. But when I open like i've been tught to do in books and stuff ('hey, i notice you from over there. thought you looked cute in that dress bla bla bla' sort of thing), the interaction is always way more awkward

I wouldn't emulate this guy and I feel like at least that first one might be fake. Too clowny for actual pickup, needs some serious mixed in there or it's just tryhard in real life, body language is weak-uberweak, eg both hand on hips jutting chest out, laughs at his own jokes before she does. Not to say the line wouldn't work as an opener, doesn't seem great but it'd be worth a try, but otherwise the "game" is pretty poor in my opinion. Might steal "That sounds like the name of my next GF" to follow an indirect opener though. Questionable quality throughout but I'd hit the Japanese girl. Regarding the prank guy in my vid, I personally thought he came across as smooth and with good body language? How would it be improved?

Depends on the player, his delivery, and the context. In some places you can just gorilla pimp a chick, other times you need to speak in code until she gets it.

Back in the day, a guy wouldn't ask this question. He'd go out and try it, then report his findings.

A few examples - He calls attention to his faults (short) followed by a Jim Carrey laugh. Laugh is often release of tension - He's telling her, and she realizes sub/consciously that he's feeling tension/insecurity about height and felt the need to release it. Hands should be relaxed at your sides, not on hips, in pockets, crossed, etc unless you're doing it for a specific purpose or touching her. You might cross your arms if playfully disagreeing/pretending to chide her or something, never in actual disagreement, prebang at least. "Are you attracted to me?" in a needy upward inflection tone - never use this, always assume attraction. More bad laughter, in response to hers, she's leading the interaction, he's seeking approval again. A woman should almost always be laughing more than the man unless you're laughing at her, and don't overdo this.

Second set - she didn't get the joke. OK doesn't matter never repeat yourself, that means that youre placing importance on what you're saying which you shouldn't be, and seeking reaction again, which you shouldn't be. Roll on instead, "Geez your friends got it. Is she always like this (to them)" Or even just "Doesn't matter. I like your sunglasses. What are you guys up to today?"

BS needy upward inflections with the J girl too but she's eating him up so it doesn't really matter here.

Throughout all the vid he's being overly dramatic and completely unsexual, even when he's speaking sexually, acting more like a gay future besty than potential lover.

By magic I mean seduction, tongue in cheek homage to the mainstream views of it. Spend some time reading the old Game threads here, Roosh's Bang books, and it won't take long to crack the code.

I would say the goal of any cold approach is just to make a girl laugh (build trust and comfort). She doesn't know you, she could have a boyfriend, and she doesn't want to talk to a random stranger. The goal is to make her feel safe and at ease with you.

That could be the problem with Direct PUA openers is that the objective is of a direct sexual nature, that the woman may not want or be expecting. She may be too young, inexperienced and uncomfortable being cold approached by a stranger. There are some girls that just don't want to talk to strangers due to fear and inexperience. The girl needs to have time to decide for herself if she likes a guy.

The "beautiful compliment" opener makes girls uncomfortable because she doesn't know what to say, and its not a conversation piece. She can say "Thanks for the compliment, now goodbye."

Instead, by joking and asking her on the tinder date - then the girl has time to decide if she actually likes this guy and considers him attractive. You have to give a girl that time to desire a guy and make up her own mind.

Once a woman has made up her mind about desiring a guy, then she clings to him for life, and its easy to date/sleep with her. Pickup should be about creating "desire from a woman" and making a man irresistible.

It's all about presentation. Ive dubbed my game style "The most interesting clown in the world". Ive been using the same online opener in person (night game) and it's worked out well if delivered as if it's almost a nonchalant afterthought.

"You're cute, how normal are you?"

Then agree and amplify until I'm in tears from laughing so hard. If she gets pissed, I get a laugh. If she's hooked, I get a laugh and whatever else. Win/win.

I am going to talk about this because I feel like I can relate to some of what has been said so far. Less than a year ago when I just started game, I'd relied exclusively on pick up lines I had read on the internet and in the book the Game. I wrote them down, memorized them and went out to try them out. It worked and I felt like a champ because I got reactions from girls... But later on, I developed a fear, I was scared that a movie about Pick up or an adaptation of the game would be made and where all of my lines and routines would be exposed.

At the same time, I remember watching the blueprint decoded and saying to my friend how useless it was because it wasn't a how to dvd. He didn't give pick up advice but he explained deeper things that I would understand later.

At that moment, I thought pick up lines, routines were the shit but as I improved as a person I started telling my own stories. My own stories, things I actually did. Everybody has a story, a funny moment something he can make a girl laugh with, make her interested. The thing is to develop yourself and learn how to tell a story.

I personally think that pick up lines are useful only in the beginning stage when are too scared to say something, you can rely on those but as you improve your game

As a final note, I think openers are used by every player out there no matter his level and are not an option even when you use pick up lines on girls you have to open them first. Therefore, openers are more useful than pick up lines.

I suppose for very-attractive men then the direct openers work well because a woman wants to actually talk to a hot guy. But if an ugly dude tells her she is "cute or beautiful" then she just thinks he's a rapist creep and wants to run away as fast as possible, its like a homeless guy catcalling women on the street.

For an ugly guy, he can it may be better to use a indirect/funny opener to get a girl to relax and have fun. You don't want a girl to be tense and have her shields up. She needs to relax and have time to process and develop feelings of attraction towards the guy.

I suppose that is the difference between high-pressure sales and mid-pressure sales. Be flirtatious/funny but not aggressively demanding in the opener.

Younger girls are afraid of strangers but older women (after college) don't have as many options and are more desparate for attention and more experienced with sex and casual hookups so the idea of ONS isn't scary.

Also, you have to callibrate for the situation and for the mood.

Some girls may be in a rush and just not be in the mood for a "direct compliment opener"

But the reason a Funny opener is effective is because it creates an emotional feeling with a girl, and its a lot easier to get a girl to fall in love with you if she has a warm emotional response to your conversation. She'll also think, this guy is funny and makes me laugh so I will enjoy being around him for a 2nd date.

I would say a compliment opener works well in a Bar or club where there is a lot of competition and a lot of noise, so high-energy direct conversations can make a guy stand out. Also, girls in bars and at parties are in very social situations and are in a friendly mood. If a girl is in a friendly mood, then she will be more talkative and responsive to any direct opener. If she's going to work or class, then she doesn't want to be hit on and will have less patience for horny men.

Getting laid is the goal of cold approach. Not getting a laugh, not even getting a number. Maybe getting a girlfriend, maybe getting a ONS, but always getting laid.

You shouldn't be slathering the girls with compliments after a direct opener. As I said above I wouldn't even use the line about "sounds like the name of my next GF" after going direct. Direct has already stated your intent, that you're not looking to be her gay besty like AngryPicnic - from there you need to build comfort and attraction. Indirect you still need to build comfort and attraction, as well as find a way to state your intent without being awkward. If you go direct though, you will need to establish some initial value through style and being in shape. If you're wearing JC Penney and have no muscle tone you will probably get rejected frequently and indirect or funny might work better, at least until you start hitting the gym and TJ Maxx.

If you go direct you need to follow up with something immediately, as with anything you shouldn't be looking for a reaction or approval from her. My go to if nothing pops out is a simple "What are you/you guys up to today?" although a statement of value before the question is better.

If you disregard the terrible body language and tonality there are a few decent lines above. As I mentioned, the fake Tinder date got me a solid number the other day and I promise you that it will get me a bang someday. Agree they're not much help with game in themselves

Getting laid is the goal. But its also important to remember that attraction is a two way street. Just because you open a girl with a compliment doesn't mean the compliment is reciprocated. At least with a joke, she laughs, and she has determined that at least you are a funny dude to be around. Then you gotta continue to build comfort and attraction.

I suppose there can be some openers where you reverse-compliment - and get the girl to answer "Do you think I'm hot compared to other guys?" or something to get her mind spinning where she has to consider the guy as boyfriend-material.

The compliment opener is just one-direction and it doesn't create any interaction on her part. She can feel like a piece of art and not a actual person. Enjoying and generating a 10 minute conversation helps build up comfort and attraction.

So in the first video it seemed like his sexual comments were a little out of place, is that just me? I also thought that maintaining eye contact was crucial which I noticed he didn't do much of, I do my best to keep eye contact during an entire conversation is that wrong or not?
