The sad state of the ESL industry today is that more SJW types are becoming co-workers.

The Frumpy Young Women tend to be Middle-Aged Women now, but they are fucking EVERYWHERE in TEFL now. They are much more confident, much more professional and qualified, even more blazingly indignant about social justice and GMO foods, but they're still pretty frumpy.

I have coworkers that I am no longer on speaking terms with because they kept bringing up politics in any type of conversation. The worst coworker is a Canadian. I have triggered her in the past including one time when I used the word "retarded" when describing mentally retarded people.

Anyway, I am an American and a Trump supporter. However, I have never said I was a Trump supporter to my students. If my students ask me about Trump I just change the topic and refuse to discuss politics with them because its way too complicated to explain all of the details of American culture, media and politics. Most basically just assume Trump is racist or stupid because they read a facebook post saying he said something bad.

Personally, if I were you I would not discuss your political preferences to the class going forward. You can open discussions which lead to critical thinking about a political event but by stating you like Trump it could put you in the defensive for having to continually justify any decision he makes which isn't a good way to lead the class.

Sorry to rag but who doesn't want to start their own online business. Less work / more prestigious, and you don't have to deal with annoying students all the time. Not surprised teaching relegated to pits of SJW's you can't find any other job abroad.

I'm in a foreign country right now and have been defending and explaining Trump to Americans Brits and Latinos, who all compare him to Hitler. I have taken heat constantly and am often outnumbered 5 to 1 or more.

I'm Canadian, but I the train has no brakes and I'm trying to help drain the swamp.

With all due respect 262, and even though this would work almost everywhere in the world, still: this would be a terrible strategy to implement (at the moment) in Ukraine (people would fail to see the humor). One strategy that, who knows?, might even have him removed from the country... (Also, any attempt at humor will be met by: "soxhee, X-thousand people been keeled in Donbass, so I no laughing!")

Much better to refuse talking politics in Ukraine, to dodge the subject and any question. Believe me, each time I spoke about politics in Ukraine, I lived to regret it: people are not open to logical reasoning about the Ukraine-USA-Russia relations. Talking about politics in Ukraine is like sticking your hand in a bee nest, a little honey to gather but much stinging and wounding.

Yes, 100% agreed. Speak your mind in private and with people you already have some trust/bond. In public just say "Slava Ukraina, Geroaim Slava", or nothing about politics at all.
