We've kinda seen this coming, but this is the first report I've read where a woman discusses having sex with a robot.

They're even talking about eventually being able to marry a robot:

That wouldn't be surprising - fifteen years ago gay marriage was laughed out of the room. But I think the researchers may be missing a few things in terms of what women really want though:

If you tried describing what the social effect of the smartphone would be to someone in 1999, they would look at you like you were nuts. I think we're at a similar point now with robots, and in particular sex robots. Though most people will dismiss the idea as something a loser in his basement would use to jerk off, the growing numbers of lonely western cat ladies is a factor pushing this idea into eventual social acceptance, at least as much as dildos are socially accepted.

I think in less than a decade, this will be a very lucrative market, and a lot sooner than most people are willing to admit.

Two decades for the technology to be there and be affordable. It will likely be military use that pushes this stuff forward. Remember the internet was a cold war military innovation first and civilian tool second. Once viable sex robots hit the market in about 15 years they will be a game changer, 5 years after that when they are affordable they will be common everyday essentials like a smartphone.

Nerds and Autistics once again using rigid research in attempts to shine light on the female hamster mind. These nerds don't fuck women very often, so they think a woman can fall in love with a fancy sex toy, but they are wrong.

Women can be attracted to almost anything really, their sexuality isn't binary and hard wired like men. This robot just provides bonding and stimulation in a controlled setting directed by the women and researchers, when the robot can't buy her things and pay the bills she will get bored and go back to the real men. I don't think a sex robot for women will be a very big seller. Women primarily want access to a man's resources and his emotional love and commitment. A robot accomplishes none of these, other than a synthetic fuck. Robot sex will primarily be limited to the male losers of the SMP who wouldn't find women in real life. Kaotic, right on. I think if there are one group of women who might sign up for these sex robots are actually feminist/lesbian women that secretly want a man on the down low, but they have so many hangups about men that they could never actually sustain a relationship with one in real life. I agree, I can only see robots being used as women for slave chores not as lovers. They would use regular robots as slaves, drones to spy on rivals and assassin robots to kill their beta husbands when they are ready to move up the ladder to a new dick/provider.

More like the military pushing robot technology forward for military reasons like invasion and occupation with "humaniod" robots capable of independent decisions in combat zones. Initially they would look robotic and easily distinguishable from real soldiers-as the technology rapidly progressed the robots would become more and more lifelike. Once American lives are no longer a factor in putting"Boots on the Ground" for invasion and occupation military adventures in 3rd world countries will become far more common. Also, expect China and Russia to be exploring robotics for military intervention as well, further driving innovation at a cold war type pace.
Subsequently these innovations will trickle down to the consumer market .

I agree most women will not find these robots capable of filling their sexual needs anymore than a sex toy that protects them. The same way all these women buy dogs and cats for companionship, it helps with the void but does not fill the void.

The true impact will be with men, and especially thirsty men. Attention whores on Instagram will have a lot less attention once the advanced sexually capable robots hit the market for men-many businesses are going to take a hit like Nightclubs, chat rooms,cam whores, VR porn, pay dating websites and all dating venues. Honestly, that sounds like an easy way to defeat ISIS.
Just supply potential recruits with easy ways to get off, while pursuing active members.
You cut off the need for disgruntled youth to even consider the lifestyle, while you cut down the ones who made the choice.
