Dudes keep telling me to take girls to the bar (I got great advice from RDF but I'm open to more input). They recommend ordering the girl a drink and just getting myself a seltzer. I've never had a single day 2 at the bar. I've always taken girls to the park. However, I recently started taking girls to coffee shops/FroYo joints, since I've only had 1 girl agree to go to the park (and actually show up) since I've been in LA.

Is this the way to go?

Or should I stick with coffee shop dates (or park dates when I can find a girl out here in LA that's actually down) and then just serve the girl, say, a cranberry juice and vodka when I pull and serve myself just cranberry juice?

Regardless, it seems not serving girls alcohol on day 2s is responsible for my low lay/pull rate. I have pulled nearly every day 2 I've had dating back to college, but I've only converted those pulls to lays a very low percentage of the time. I can't help but think a sizable chunk of those LMR bouts would've been pork sessions, simply because the girls would've been more loose and uninhibited with some a-a-a-a-a-alcohol to cast the blame on.

Mini golf has always been a very solid go-to for first or second dates. It is inexpensive, and you can playfully cheat by bumping her or playing with her ball, then claim she is "unlucky" with a big smirk, but lucky enough that she found you. Make it fun and competitive. See if you have a course in your area.

I think you need to step up your verbal game to elicit emotional reactions and compliance from her. The problem is not the alcohol. If a broad's feeling you based off how you making her feel in the moment, she'll be open to your wishes sans the alcohol(alcohol could lead to a false rape allegation to the cops)

TLDR- step up your verbal game.

I'm in the same boat since I quit drinking and recently began dating again.
Drinking allowed me to bang chicks I really wasn't all that in to.
Now, I'm really only interested in banging chicks who I wouldn't mind hanging out with the next day. I've found the chics I'm genuinely interested in, alcohol isn't even a factor. We've went for walks, hiking, festivals and other various activities. If you're finding it difficult to lay a chick without social lubricants (on her part or yours), I'd say work on your attraction more.

I don't use "my place". "My place" is a code word and destroys plausible deniability.

No girl has ever rejected a man that she wants to be with because he tried to get in her pants, so there's nothing to worry about. If she doesn't want to come over, offer your other ideas.

I've had periods when I don't drink. I've had successful dates when the girl drinks and I don't, it's not like it's impossible. Coffee dates suck though. Go get ice cream or something.

Sometimes I end up going out with girls who don't drink (I do though) or aren't 21 yet. You are in LA, there are almost unlimited options that don't require alcohol. There's like a street festival or event every week you can go to. Even without that you can go to Little Tokyo, Chinatown, the Downtown core, etc. Just depending on what's close and logistically good for you.

Mini-golf- Find the neon minigolf places. I popped in once, I didn't realize you had to make a reservation so we just went back to my place and put on a movie (this was before Netflix & Chill but it got the same results).

Bowling- Bowlero is a new chain popping up which is trying to be all hip/upscale.

Hang out at Venice Beach. This is one of my go to closing dates (well, since I live close). Its interesting, you can walk around and even walk on the beach, sit on the sand in your own space looking at the ocean. You can do this at any of the beach towns, but Venice is probably the easiest to not get bored at and is actually edgy and interesting.

Go to an cool place to have coffee. Abbott Kinney. Melrose. Larchmont Village. Village at Topanga. Some Farmers Market. Whatever, there are tons of places to go other than a chain store where you can actually do some serious work in.

I've done the Frozen Yogurt thing too a bunch of times, more just to fill space. Not really good to build any connection though.

When you say "park", what are you talking about. It just seems weird that you want to meet someone at a park. I mean Griffith Park, it would be cool. Echo Park lake it would be cool, but is this just some random park? I don't know any girl that would really be down to meet at a park.

Hike a trail (we have the Green Belt in Austin and McKinney Falls), she has to lean on you on the more perilous parts, plenty of opportunity to build rapport, and you can go for a "spontaneous" swim, fully clothed. Or not clothed, if it's nighttime and you're both feeling it.

Alternatively, a couple of years ago I owned a business in downtown Austin, so I'd bring girls over to my outdoor shop, and it was great fun. We'd chat, the guys would all be looking up to me, since I'm the boss, so she'd see me in my element, then I'd turn on my car's music, climb on to the roof of the car, and have her join me so we could dance on the roof while enjoying the view of the downtown Austin skyline.

I remember the first girl I did that with, as I pulled her up to the roof of the car, she said "Wow, Spaniard, I thought you were so cool at work, but you're even cooler in real life..."

I did the same date several times, it got to be where it felt like I was watching the same movie over and over again, with a different actress in the lead role each time.

For second dates, I also enjoy hiking at McKinney Falls with a hidden bottle of wine (apologies for putting this in a non-drink thread, but it's a good second date idea). When we get to this spot that's sealed off, I have us sneak past the barrier into the off-limits part. There, we hike to this rock formation with an overhang that creates a roof over you. The spacious, covered area provides a great view of the forest and the river below and it's a very airy, open space, but with a rock overhang giving a cozy feeling. By that point, we've broken at least two laws, sneaking wine into the park, and going past the barrier, so the evening's mood is already set to "risk-taking," however benign.

The thing these dates have in common is the girl's heartbeat goes up, due to, for example, dancing on the roof of a car while viewing the Austin skyline in the background, almost slipping on the trail and being caught by me, or by doing something we know we aren't supposed to, like going into an off-limits area or skinny dipping (or swimming in boxers, whatever) in the dark.

Girls see me as a handsome, very nice, friendly guy that's successful and a leader of men, but does his own thing, and that combination makes them feel really comfortable around me, so they look up to me. Then when on top of my other qualities, I take them on these kinds of dates, it triggers all kinds of emotions in them, and they fall hard.

Then I make love and I alternate between being sweet and rough in the same session, and they're even more completely off balance than they already were by the whole experience of getting to know me, and they love it.

I get "I didn't see that coming," and "I didn't expect that" pretty frequently.

Nonetheless.

Going abroad is better, the effort required is much lower for a greater reward.

Unless you count the effort required to become location independent into the equation.

Then the equation changes.

But even then, factoring everything in, it's still much better abroad.

But I digress.

I usually get to the bar first and get water and ice cubes in a whisky glass. If the girl asks, I'm drinking vodka and water so she doesn't feel bad about ordering alcohol.

Alcohol facilitates bangs.

It does, it really does, but if your value is high enough relative to hers (or she perceives it to be), it's not necessary.

Plus, in today's climate (in America), combining alcohol with girls you don't know can have unpredictable outcomes.

That can make things exciting and fun, but it can also complicate your life.

I prefer no alcohol and foreign women, especially now that I have assets, but I see where you're coming from, I've been there, it's a social lubricant, for sure.

I'm talking about a run-of-the-mill park down the road. I really like Griffith and Runyon but they're several miles from my apartment. Women in NYC and Chicago were totally down to meet at those kind of parks, but I guess due to the lack of foot traffic in LA, they find those flat parks to be weird.

Most girls will go "hiking" with you if you phrase it that way, then go to a juice bar or a nice whole foods or Erewhon. In that case I think you'll get better results versus phrasing it as "meeting at the park". Maybe something like the La Brea Tarpits would work. Random parks? Maybe toss a frisbee? I've flown kites at the beach for a date and it went well.

Day 2 is always at my apartment. If she balks at that idea then she's next.

In Southern China, a lot of girls will not drink with you for the first few dates. They're too smart for that.

I like to go for walks in the park, hiking, take them to a cool restaurant (no candle lit bullshit), go rock climbing or even a gym date (not even kidding). I draw a lot of this from my interests. Remember the OLD old old old old game adage: pull her into your world.

Damn great out of the box thinking, I will definitely be incorporating some of this in the future. It seems like you have it down to a science at this point lol. It goes together very well with one of the points RSD Luke makes, which is creating first strong impressions / very memorable, unusual experiences.

Not to get too offtopic, but the last part of your post kinda also stuck out to me, mind expanding a bit on where you were getting at with it. I would imagine you were hinting at more than simply the quality of US girls, which is where I see you're from.

Anyway solid topic. As a fellow non-drinker I tend to disregard girls who smoke or drink these days more and more.
