Should I share my inheritance?
Firstable, sorry for my english.

There is something in my mind I would like to share with you guys, and ask for your opinions/ideas.

Okay,Yes I know it's an individual and kind of stupid of a question, I dont have alot of REAL friends, and to be honest I can't really trust anyone in this world, and I think that roosh forum actually is the best place to ask it, so...

Overall background review: I'm 23 years old, and I'm really suffering in my life right now, I don't have anyone I can trust, nor friends or family, my dad died years ago and I didn't even met him (when I was 2 years old) I'm living with my mother and her two little children(12 and 13 years old) from a different father, I'm sharing a room with my little brother, and I dont really feel like I have an independent life.
Also, the economic state is not really good, we have only one old and cracky car whice I share with my mom, and we keep arguing about money, although both of us work.

The other family member I'm in contact with is my grand mother (Mother of my mom) she has her own house and she always try to convice me to move there so I can have privacy to get girls and have "my own place" but I'm not sure about it.

I have to add, that I kind of feel that my mom nor my grandmother genuinely love me and care about me. For an example my mom always support my little brother and sister even if THEY did something bad, and I dont feel like keep getting all this shit from them, and I think I should have my OWN life.

In short : there is a pretty big amount of money that I'm going to recieve from my grand father (the father of my dad) death. and I'm really considering to my self not to SHARE it with anyone, I dont think they deserve it, and I think I should use it to buy my OWN place, and invest the rest on real estate/businesses.

What would you do guys? Should I "Betray" my moral? Or I'm just going to do the right thing? Do they really deserve to get a piece of my "Pie"? Thank you guys in advance, I'm really feel like THIS is the ONLY place I can open my heart and share my thoughts, about, MAYBE, the biggest decision of my life.

RE: Should I share my inheritance?
They will use every single trick and verbal manipulation they can to try and get the money from you. They will guilt you, shame you, appear to your morals, appeal to charity, and so on. But once they get the money, you lose and they win. It will be spent on their kids by that other man.

If your father's father had intended it to go to your mother or your grandmother, he would've wrote that in his will. But he didn't. He bequeathed it to you. And now he's dead and only you can enforce his will -- by spending it to better your own life and your own future. It is your moral responsibility to ensure every single dollar of that inheritance is spent on you and you alone.

Don't be a weak little bitch. Not one single dollar will you allow to be manipulated out of your hands. Use every single dollar of that money to gain your independence.

RE: Should I share my inheritance?
1. Go rent an apartment in the city center. Get a hotel if you need to or a hostel, put your stuff in storage. But get out of there, you cannot think like this. Absolutely do not make any decisions until your decision-making process is no longer compromised.
2. Hire an accountant and find a way to keep as much money from the taxman as possible. Do this ASAP.
3. Keep all the money (for now) and decide 6 months from now based on the behavior of your family how much should go to who.

Keep in mind the old man had every reason to give some percentage to the others and chose not to. When you get old you quickly see which people are black holes of money sinks and which will make it grow and make something of themselves. Do not disappoint.

EDIT: I would quit my job and look for a new one in the city. Depending on the money involved, you could retrain as a realtor or other such. But don't spend all your money in one place until you are an expert.

If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is.

RE: Should I share my inheritance?
^ Co-sign all of the posts of the above. The only thing I would amend to storm's reply is to wait 1 year instead of 6 months before deciding about which (if any) family members receive money. Of course, don't tell them that you're waiting a year. Just sit back and watch how they handle it... the truth will come out.

If at the one-year mark you decide to give money to family members, make sure they understand that any money coming from you is a one-time thing and a one-time thing only. Really though, I wouldn't share a cent of it with anyone else.

Here's to your newfound independence/living arrangements being the cure for what currently ails you. It may not solve all of your problems, but your life will improve in a big way.

Last word of caution, be careful about being "about that life" when your on your own. This is a great opportunity. Please don't waste it.

Sincere best wishes.

RE: Should I share my inheritance?
THANK you really guys for you're input, I really appericate it.

Just to add, this is the grand father of my dad, his only son (he had ZERO connect to my mom and grand mother family so ofcourse he put all the money on my name)

And yeah, I really think those motha fck'ers hoes just want to USE my emotions and play on this, so I will waste my money on them, trips, new house,car... WTF? I should really ran away from them, and use this money ONLY but ONLY for myself, mother fckers traitors. they really dissapoined me for my whole life, BTW before my mother made those kids and only dated their father, me and him didnt really got along, and there were alot of fights between me and him, and she didnt support me and keep being with him, so that's in my book - a treason.
and the grand mother always keep telling me how much she loves me and bla bla, but she barely invest any money on me( whice she has and she keep spending on her other daughters)

RE: Should I share my inheritance?
This reminds me of the post where a forum member had savings bonds given to him by his grandmother. The only problem was that his dad had them and that he owed his dad a considerable amount of money. The member rationalized that his dad was bad and he should steal the money and not pay him back. Luckily, some member saw through the false framing of his argument. The guy ended up paying his dad back and last I saw his story was showing a positive outcome.

I'm suspicious when people paint horrific images of their family or friends without any introspection to how they treat or act towards their family. I usually get the feeling they are trying to get approval to justify what they want to really do. In this case the OP wants to ghost his family.

I suppose it is possible his family really does suck and this is his golden ticket out. In that case he should be careful with how they treat him once he has the money.

RE: Should I share my inheritance?
consider what you want to do, have reasons for what you do and I'd suggest living as you do now without any big lifestyle changes.

figure out how to invest, if you desire to do so, and after you make returns then consider treating your family if you wish to do so.

we don't know the amount so that's about as good as I can suggest.

RE: Should I share my inheritance?
Okay, I will be more specific, the exact amount is about 1.2M USD, that's not going to make me a rich guy, but atleast give me a good boost to start my own life.

I live in israel, and right now I'm trying to work my way into a vice president of a hotel (right now my earnings are about 3.3k USD a month as a reception manager if I translate israeli money (shekels to dollars) , and once I will get my promotion in the next months I belive it would jump into 4.5k USD a month, so I'm not sure if I should retrain as a realtor and 1.2M usd is not that much money to INVEST, becuase I need to buy my own apartmant, and a car also. Although I heard that you can make enormous amount of money by buying properties from receivership - anyway I believe I will have some money left to invest into a property or two...

Just to inform you guys, the life in Israel are REAL expensive, food, cars, clothes - just about everything... and I'm not sure if i should stay in this country when i get my money, I'm thinking about moving to canada or so. Really need to have your piece of advice guys on this matter too. before I will be too old and it's would be too late.

RE: Should I share my inheritance?
It really depends on how much it is in my opinion, if it's 10k,50k,100k or whatever just spend it yourself, if it's 500k or more maybe spend a little bit on your mother. If it's a large amount of money, maybe buy a condo keep it in your name and your name only but let her stay there for a discounted rent.

RE: Should I share my inheritance?
My experience has been that things like inheritances, wills, and large amounts of money bring out the worst in people. If you're going to be giving people money, you will be setting yourself up for disappointment if you expect any gratitude in return. You won't get any gratitude.

You'll get more and more resentment. You'll get more escalating demands for money.

And what's worse, your "friends" and "family" will begin to act cruelly towards you. So not only will you get zero gratitude, but you will actually come under escalating attacks.

If you think I'm being overly cynical, go talk to a few people who have been executors of estates. Or go talk to a few attorneys that handle estate planning, probate matters, or wills and trusts. Listen to what they tell you.

My personal feeling is that if you are lucky enough to come into some money, your first priority is to protect it from the vultures and scavengers on the landscape. If it's a lot of money, go to an attorney and have it put in trust, or some other form of asset protection. You need to protect your assets, even from yourself. Especially from yourself.

The time to be generous and exercise your largesse is after you are in a secure position. And even then, such financial benefits should be doled out slowly, moderately, and in increments, so that they may be better appreciated. Birthdays, holidays, graduations, are good opportunities to be magnanimous.

I know of a german-isrealiy company that does real estate investments in both countries. $1.2M USD is a huge sum of money to invest and make a lot of money each year. Also your income is fairly decent. I'm very surprised you can't afford to move out right now. Story doesn't seem to add up.

All kidding aside, that amount of money is pretty significant.

Not much to add to the above except an example from my own life:

I had an aunt (by blood) that recently passed away. She had a significant amount of money, close to what you're potentially looking at.

She also had two daughters, who when they were growing up, never wanted or struggled for anything. My aunt (and uncle) bought both of them brand new cars on their 16th birthdays, made the down payments on their first houses (and ended up making payments the better part of the time), weddings, furniture, appliances, the list goes on. These girls never knew what a hard earned dollar was.

I was her godson, which doesn't mean anything other than I sort of (for complete lack of a better word) expected (?) something when she passed. I know that reads like shit, but it's not an entitlement mentality, it's based a lot on things we spoke of when I would visit her. And the last time I saw her (she was in Florida, I live in NY), she pointed out a few things that she wanted each of my kids to have as well someday.

Fast forward to her passing.. the girls basically had/have her entire estate to deal with.

"Well, that's my money" became a repeated phrase from each of the girls.

"Can't find it" or "Haven't seen it" whenever they were asked about anything regarding what their/our grandmother gave my aunt (things with considerable value).

There's such hate for a couple of other family members that the girls won't divulge where my aunt is buried (my uncle found the place eventually, but no one has told the girls that he/we know).

Angry, bitter, vicious, the list goes on..

That kind of money you're talking about ?

Their true colors will come out of the woodwork real quick.

I'm not a selfish person, but I wouldn't spent any penny on people who didn't support me in my hard times, and betrayed me, so there is a little bit of a DIFFERENCE between the two examples - but I understand your point.

RE: Should I share my inheritance?
If i were a young man who inherit big good money I would take the money and use it to make a stable living - depending on the sum of money I would do all or some of the following: buy a house, get good education, start a business, leave enough emergency reserve to survive a year or more doing nothing, buy another property in other district/city/country as escape route or for renting and passive income.

After these things are done - you are somewhat wealthy and have stability - you can take care about your poorer relatives - but this will not be from your inherited money - this will be from money you have earned from your stable and good income - money you can easily replace and can afford to lose.

People often underestimate the level of stability they need to help another person asking, most likely someone asking is someone well known and therefore of the same social level. It's easy to get in a situation when financially helping an ungrateful or foolish person drags you down to their misery. Even if you like to help others your first priority is to help yourself otherwise you will be unable to help anyone.

I just googled and it looks like is real doesn't have an inheritance tax. (((They))) just let you keep everything.

Is there a reason that at 23 years old you don't live your own life already?

1)DO NOT GIVE ANYONE ANYTHING PERIOD.

2)GET A LAWYER ASAP a REALLY good one. you will have to do research on this but yeah this is important to keep your inheritence to yourself

3)PREPARE TO MOVE FAR AWAY AND GHOST EVERYONE FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS(or longer)

do this asap. Youre young so you dont realize what happens when one person in a family comes across a lot of money. It changes that family for the worse, and that person loses all of their money..

After you do this, then you need to figure out how to grow your money, either though investment/real estate/ starting your own business/learning useful skills that you can do work remotely at etc etc. . .youre gonan need to do a lot of research on this.

GIVE NO ONE ANYTHING. PERIOD.

If you fail on anyone of these, you will lose EVERYTHING. Guaranteed!

What do you mean by ghost? Leave the city and hide away? Lol. I live in a tiny city it would be a pain in the ass to meet them from time to time after that...

You don't even like them, why would you see them from time to time?
You are free. Free to choose.
Then, once you'll have taken a decision, respect it.

RE: Should I share my inheritance?
Nobody else see the holes in the story?

1)OP gets 1.2M, thinks it's not that much money. Yeah yeah estate tax blah blah.
2)Gets 1.2M, still decides to be aiming at VP of a hotel. 1.2M USD is location independence or single individual passive income financial independence instantly.
3)Makes 3.3KUSD monthly, and has a bad economic situation? High cost of living in a small town in Israel?
4)Dislikes his mom but still pays for the house out of pocket? Where's the stepfather's payment in all this?

I know @Ethan Hunt spotted the holes too.
