The scam behind the "Fearless Girl" statue in NY
From the article -
Quote:And that brings us to March 7th of this year, the day before International Women’s Day. Fearless Girl appeared, standing in front of Charging Bull. On the surface, it appears to be another work of guerrilla art — but it’s not. Unlike Di Modica’s work, Fearless Girl was commissioned. Commissioned not by an individual, but by an investment fund called State Street Global Advisors, which has assets in excess of US$2.4 trillion. That’s serious money. It was commissioned as part of an advertising campaign developed by McCann, a global advertising corporation. And it was commissioned to be presented on the first anniversary of State Street Global’s “Gender Diversity Index” fund, which has the following NASDAQ ticker symbol: SHE. And finally, along with Fearless Girl is a bronze plaque that reads:
Know the power of women in leadership. SHE makes a difference.
Note it’s not She makes a difference, it’s SHE makes a difference. It’s not referring to the girl; it’s referring to the NASDAQ symbol. It’s not a work of guerrilla art; it’s an extremely clever advertising scheme. This is what makes it clever: Fearless Girl derives its power almost entirely from Di Modica’s statue.

I remember when a dude was simulating a sex act on that girl statue, that shit was hilarious. That fearless girl statue symbolizes feminism well-a child with no real understanding of the world about to be crushed by a bull.
"I love white people, they are awesome! Especially hot,tight,18 year old, white women who love interracial sex with tall black men from Atlanta"

He is, and he created his art with the best of intentions, to symbolize the strength in prosperity. The reappropriation of this artwork for commercial uses should be dealt with by the city with the fullest extent, but it wont be, not under this clown DiBlasio. Can you imagine United Airlines draping a banner over the Lincoln Memorial?

RE: The scam behind the "Fearless Girl" statue in NY
Quote:“The Charging Bull no longer carries a positive, optimistic message. Rather, it has been transformed into a negative force and a threat,” said Di Modica’s attorney, Norman Siegel. “Clearly, a deliberate choice was made to exploit and to appropriate the ‘Charging Bull’ through the placement of the ‘Fearless Girl’.”
They are trying to use a copyright law to protect the work. I can't imagine how angry he is. Artist hate having their work altered without permission.
Quote:Siegel pointed to a 1990 copyright statute that grants visual artists the right “to prevent any intentional distortion, mutilation or other modification of that work which would be prejudicial to [the artist’s] reputation”.
In addition to the removal of the statue, Di Modica was seeking unspecified damages from the city of New York. Siegel said, however, that his client had not filed a lawsuit yet and is hoping the city – specifically its mayor, Bill de Blasio – will come to the table with the artist in good faith. De Blasio recently extended “Fearless Girl’s” permit through March 2018 and has called it a symbol of “standing up to fear, standing up to power” and doing what’s right. Seigel said the “inescapable implication” was that Di Modica’s bull became “a force against doing what’s right”.

I think the bull is better sculpted too. I do like the girls pose, but her clothes look sloppy.

I think the fearless girls statue is perfect for what it represents. If the bull represents economic prosperity then the girl represents feminism which stands in the way of prosperity

Shades of Edward Bernays' "Torches of Freedom" femino-sploitation campaign to get women to smoke by selling the weaker sex the notion that smoking is empowering...
Gay cakes and trans bathrooms: the most important human rights issues of our times, surely.

Urinating dog joins Wall Street statue row
Quote:On the eve of International Women's Day, Wall Street's iconic Charging Bull statue was joined by a defiant little girl.
She faces down the much larger bull, hands on hips, and was commissioned to highlight gender inequality.
But now a New York artist has taken a stand against the new arrival by adding a third statue - a urinating pug.
Alex Gardega's creation - now removed - took aim at the little girl's left leg.
He told the New York Post the Fearless Girl statue was "corporate nonsense" devised to promote the fund managers who commissioned it.
"It has nothing to do with feminism, and it is disrespect to the artist that made the bull," he said. "That bull had integrity."
He said he had consciously done a sloppy job on his dog statue, dubbed Pissing Pug, to reinforce his point.
"I decided to build this dog and make it crappy to downgrade the statue, exactly how the girl is a downgrade on the bull," Gardega said.
The sculptor removed his piece about three hours after installing it, saying he did not want it to be stolen - and did not have permission to leave it there.
Some, however, simply lampooned the entire exchange between artistic types.
Arturo Di Modica, the Italian-born artist who created the bull, was dismayed by the appearance of the girl statue. He has argued that its presence changes the artistic meaning of his work.
Di Modica is now suing State Street Global Advisors, who installed the rival artwork, for trademark and copyright infringement.
The imposing bull sculpture appeared as guerrilla art in 1989, without any city permits.

I LOVE THIS! Makes it point in so many ways, not the least of which is it's a CRAP statue...like the girl...like most things women do when copying men. Why they can't just be women is beyond me.
