1. Basketball- I see this as being the #1 American sport by 2050. It's literally the last one left that has survived the exclusiveness of organized leagues and has minimal long-term health risk with a lot of fast-paced action. It is a perfect modern sport because it is still played in every neighborhood, is relative, has clear stars people can look up to, and people don't end up mentally screwed up once their careers end. Not to mention it's already a major sport so doesn't need much growing.
The limiting factor of basketball in my eyes is that basketball at a high level is geared exclusively to physical traits that 99% of the population doesn't even have. It's virtually impossible to make a even low level college teams like division 3 unless you are tall enough.
I definitely see soccer growing as it is the ultimate world wide sport and the latino population in the US is expected to double by 2050. Soccer is also represents average sizes of humans compare to most sports.
Good thing Muggsy Bogues didn't have that limiting belief.
Statistically speaking your odds of making it to the NBA being under 6ft tall are 1 in 1.2 million.
If your white you probably have a better shot of winning Powerball twice than getting Muggsy Bogues genetics.
Completely wrong. There used to be plenty of white guys in the league who weren't tall, Steve Kerr, Danny Ainge, John Stockton, Mark Price and they played in a time where some of the greatest, most steroid using players played like MJ, Barkley, Ewing, Karl Malone etc. Even Steve Nash completely dominated the league until recently.
If they're not in the league anymore you should look in another (((direction))).
Muggsy Bogues is 5'3". How tall are the guys that you are talking about?

RE: The NFL is dying
There are plenty of white college basketball players who get mad pussy and live like rock stars for 4 years even if they know they'll never make the nba. That's plenty incentive for white kids to keep playing it. College athletes are celebrities on campus, even the bench players have status. I lived on a dorm floor with some football players, the goddamn backups had girls chasing them it was unreal. Just having the jersey and running out of the tunnel was enough to get pussy chasing them.

The lengths that you and other posters have been reaching to blame everything on (((them))) is truly astounding. Props to Kid Twist for actually taking the time to break down a possibility as to why White American NBA players are declining instead of going to RVF's version of "patriarchy". I expect this shit in the Politics and War sub but I guess EE is infected too.
By the way, the converse of my point is true with baseball. In fact, it proves my point. Ever wonder why there are no blacks in baseball now, relatively speaking? Culture is the reason, primarily. Dig deeper.

I don't mean tomorrow but I would say within the next 10 years.
Even the Canadian national team is getting a lot better, it is going from horrible to bad.
Way too short a time frame. The US national team won't be one of the best for at least another 20 years or so, are the kids starting at ages 3/4 now really getting the same quality of coaching and amount of play time as the same kids in the leading football nations? The MLS is a joke league, and will stay like that for the foreseeable future. Why do all the best US players play in Europe? The MLS will be like the Serie A in Brazil- a shit league in a country with a good national team.
Basketball is the most boring sport I have ever seen. It seem like they score every single time that they attack! High scoring sports can't generate the same excitement as low scoring ones such as football, american football and rugby. There is no explosion of excitement when points are scored.
Which sports do the emerging powers of the 21st century play? Well China wants to rule the world in football, so does India but they love their cricket, and Nigeria is a football nation. Yank sports were always too insular and as a consequence they will decline as the US declines. Which other countries even play baseball at any decent level? Just Japan and Cuba right?

RE: The NFL is dying
And college hoops is great, whereas the NBA is boring as hell, no defense, it's a glorified all-star show with too many games and endless playoff series.
The USMNT has plateaued at the same level for the last 20 years, it's not just that the MLS is weak (in fact it's been getting slightly better), it's the whole soccer culture that is whack, with little Timmy in a team spending hours schlepping in minivans instead of being out every afternoon at the local ground dribbling older players. Contrast with basketball, which has a strong pickup/playground culture, similar to the soccer culture you'd find in countries with advanced levels like Brazil or France.

Exactly. The average white guy in the USA is about 5-10 or so. I couldn't understand using the few white guys referenced to prove a point. Especially concerning a league that has been predominately black since the late 1960s. Mugsy Bogues defied incredible odds to just make a team in the NBA, let alone be the skilled player he was.
Whites are the tallest race in the world and in the US.
Where black Americans have an advantage is they seem to retain mobility well above 6'6''. Up until 6'6'' you have lots of whites too, but it's the 6'7'' to 6'9'' extremely athletic wings where blacks have a clear advantage. You also see this in olympic play. Euros easily match guards and centers, but they can't match the athletic wings like Lebron, Melo, PG, etc.

On the contrary college hoops has really fallen off in quality. The ratings for college regular season have absolutely cratered partially as a result. One and done has exacerbated this.
The NBA is light years better but due to such a long and grueling season, players take more 'nights off' if you will.
It isn't that college games have better defense - it only looks like that because college ballers are so awful offensively.
USMNT is facing growing pains currently because there's a gap right now between the old guard and the u20's. Josh Sargent just signed for bremen today. Pulisic is a bona fide 60+ million pound rated teenager.
There is good talent in the 15-20 range in the US right now in soccer.
