Plus, my husband and I are children of missionaries and harbour an acute guilt for the cultural imperialism of our forebears. To compensate, we've raised our children with a deep appreciation of non-Western cultures.

So when Abigail laments the colour of her white skin, part of me is programmed to protest. Is it not my moral obligation to tell her that her feelings of poor self-worth are nothing compared with the psychological ruin of real racism? Girl, everything about Canadian culture weighs in your advantage and you have no right to snivel!

Instead, I feel a sadness settle over me. We thought we were raising the enlightened child of the 21st century. We thought we were doing our part in setting the history record straight. Yet, in doing so, it seems we have robbed our oldest child of something primal to psychological health, something elemental to her well-being as a human being: cultural roots.

I don't know what to say.

The fucked up thing is that the bolded part is actually true. What is liberal white culture? This is something that has actually confused me. Conservative whites (especially those in the south) have an actual heritage, but the white liberals who live in the California literally have nothing. The only things genuinely unique to them are certain brands of SJWism and feminism. These people aren't religious, they don't have any cultural ties to Europe (or any other part of America), and they seem to have replaced their culture with liberal ideology.

I think a big part of this might actually be miscegenation on the part of European immigrants to the states -- so intermixed that they lost most of their original cultures. Whites that call themselves Polish-Americans or Italian-Americans seem to have avoided this, but I think it explains why so many liberal whites seem devoid of any culture whatsoever

Like, what do these people even eat at dinner? I'm Indian, and regardless of the negative aspects of my culture, at least my upbringing was interesting. I have a mythology and cultural corpus to fall back on. These people have nothing except for money and liberalism.

I meet plenty of liberal whites who are nice enough people at first glance, but getting to know them better reveals a shit ton of depression and other psychological issues. I don't think it's a coincidence that this occurs in a population that has completely disowned its own roots.

The sad part is the only white families in a large chunk of Vancouver city proper with one or two kids are Liberal parents like these.
Creates a negative feedback loop at school for these self hating whites and SJW ideology, who group together in the face of a Chinese majority.

I've shared the same feelings as the little girl for as long as I can remember, and I was raised in a pretty conservative home.

Even as an adult, it's still painful knowing that no matter what I do, society blames people who look like me for all the pain and suffering in the world, that society does not want me to have any sense of pride or self-worth, and that I will never have a place I can truly call my homeland. Really though, what are you supposed to tell a white child when they say something like this?

I think this is why self-improvement is so important to me. If I can't be proud of my heritage (or even be 100% sure of what flavor of white I am), at least I can find pride in overcoming challenges and achieving goals.

I'm not sure how aggressively white people are actively discriminated against from a legal standpoint, but the sheer amount of negativity directed towards white people in the media and pop culture (usually from other white people) is ridiculous. White people still control most positions of power in this country but I feel like the community as a whole is suffering. White males are 35% of the population but commit 75% of the suicides, white people are bombarded with race-specific messages telling them how to act, and every other white person I meet comes from a divorced family.

I don't find it a coincidence that most mass shooters are white. The nature of a group's bad behavior is largely dictated by culture and circumstance. There's a reason that most religious terrorists are Muslim, most people taking shits in the street are Indian, most violent gangbangers are black/Latino, and most mass shooters and libtards are white. A group's bad apples are actually a pretty good diagnosis of its problems.

The hilarious thing is these self-hating liberals are actually the most racist people I've ever met. All the genuinely racist shit that's happened to me has come from liberal whites. Their self hatred and various other problems really seem to fuck them in the head.

I'm calling BS on this idea that white America (or Canada) has no culture of its own. As a white American, I've never once felt like I'm missing a culture.

I enjoy football (the kind with freakishly huge guys in pads and helmets).
I love shitty processed foods.
I have way more living space than anyone really needs.
I am aggressively pro freedom (particularly freedom of speech) and individuality.
I've had friends/acquaintances from a zillion different ethnic backgrounds.
I love air conditioning.
I work out religiously because my daily life doesn't require any physical activity.
I enjoy the outdoors and giant open spaces.
I drive almost everywhere I go.

Sure none of this stuff was passed down from my ancestors, but it's still my culture and I proudly own it as such.
